Exploround GPS Exploring Game

Exploround divides a map by square grid into tiles and shows and remembers visited tiles. Exploring new tiles leads you to new places in your surroundings that you have not seen before thus making your walking, dog-walking, jogging or running more interesting. Discover hidden streets or trails in your neighborhood you were not aware of. Flags randomly placed on nearby unexplored tiles serve as hints for further exploration and yield bonus points when collected.



Collected tiles are used to activate specialties that measure your progress and improve your profile. Specialties in current version:
Reach: go far - furthest explored tile in given direction
Density: explore thouroughly - side of largest square with given coverage
Collector: collect flags, get 4 flags in area instead of 2
Navigator: counts tiles and flags collected without map for at least 5 minutes
Teleport: ability to mark current location as explored even if it is not connected to explored area
You can compare your scores with others on leaderboards.



Always put safety first, look out for traffic, terrain and other dangers before looking at a screen of your device!



Concept and Rules

Area. When you first start Exploround you need to create an area. Current location is set as a center. All future exploration has to start from this area (Exploround currently supports only one area) -- not necessarily from the center, but from a location (tile) which was already explored.

Session. When you start exploration session new tiles you visit are marked as explored and counted. When the session ends explored tiles are added into a bag. Total visited tiles (includes tiles explored in earlier sessions) are counted only for the record and do not have any effect.

Flag. Three flags are placed in your area, not far from already explored tiles. Flags are visible on map as blue markers. Collecting a flag gives you 10 bonus tiles. New flag is placed at new location shortly after session end. If the flag is in inaccessible location do not worry -- uncollected flag is moved after 14 days to another location and it will never reappear in the original location.

Specialty. Using collected tiles from your bag you can activate specialties -- various measures of your progress. They are usually organized as a parent specialty, e.g. Reach which is a sum of its subspecialties, in this case Reach north, Reach south etc. The parent specialty has to be activated first but it will not measure any points until one (or more) of its subspecialties are activated.

- make your walks/runs/rides less boring by taking you to new places
- measure your exploration progress to keep you motivated
