I don't care for phone or video calls, just messaging. Please don't force these features.

U70%

Looks promising Please add sent message synchronization between linked devices and fix the device linking. I already wasted a couple of usernames because "account migration" was needed but never managed to finish it.

Does not work

Be sure to limit background data for this app in your Android settings after installation *especially* if you're not using the app regularly. Not sure if this is intended behavior or not - I may file a bug report on it as it consumed 16GB of mobile data in a month.

The desktop application app seems to work well tho I haven't fully test it all completely on the Linux version, the Android version seems to be very similar but one issue I ran into was trying to add devices to my account which would crash the Android app.

It did not started on Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Not creating account.

U70%

Everything is starting to come together nicely. It just needs message synchronization and a backup plan for transferring accounts to a new device for when the existing devices that are logged in are non-functional. Some issues could be solved by creating an optional server application for Windows and Linux PC's that would manage message synchronization and offer a backup authentication method.

Doesn't work, unable to receive or send messages or request... ... diagnosis: useless!

U70%
by U####:

Annoying to set up, user names and passwords are a barrier to entry for most. It then spends all of its time with account problems it's unable to connect. Trying to send a chat request is mostly broken and guess work as it doesn't make it clear if you've added someone it not. I do hope that it gets fixed we need an open source alternative to whatsapp free from Facebook, but it needs to be easier to set up and use

A good app that can connect from one device to another. Best of all, it's absolutely free. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for SIP account or doesn't even feature to add a SIP account on Android. SIP is suppored on the app for Windows 10. Anyway it doesn't look fully support for SIP voice solution on mobile.

By the momento i tries the app si tu voice call and video call and it goes on excellent

U70%

Blew through data after Oreo update. Not even using the app and it ate 150 MB over two days.

T70%

Interesting app, voice calls seem to work fine, but with video calls the video doesn't work, just audio... Tried on a galaxy s7 and moto z both running latest updates (7.1.1)

U70%
by U####:

Insecure garbage. Does not do peer to peer, requires signing up for an account on third party server and requires microphone access just to start up. Uninstalled.

Calls have good audio quality. I haven't tested video calling yet. IDK if a text message I had sent my mother will deliver, because I don't know if she's online, but I thought she would be today. There should be a way to send voicemail, like recording a message and delivering when the recipient is online. That would keep to the P2P nature of Ring. There's no method to send image, picture, video or audio files. Push To Talk would be amazing as it's not common in open source applications, but it's very convenient and sought after by people who've worked in construction and miss the days of Sprint PTT. There's no way to tell if the recipient is online. Wire and Riot.im seem to be much more complete, feature-wise. You have a long way to go before people will find Ring useful. Its only edge over the others is a familiar phone calling app interface, and familiarity is what is needed for family to adopt Ring, so I'm glad you have that.

Great Open Source App!

U70%

Great app, even though it still has some rough edges. It currently eats the battery, is not very light on traffic and I can not find an obvious way to change the password for my account. Otherwise please keep up the good work. It's already a great thing.

If I wipe my phone before making a backup I lose the account for good. :/ I have the SIM card, I have the username and the password, but I can't restore my account. Keep it in mind before making it your first messenger.

I really love Ring's design philosophy, and it seems to work very well. I have been able to test out its basic functions. However, it uses huge amounts of battery and so I can't recommend it to anyone. I understand that this may be an effect of the p2p design. Maybe the phone charging and connectivity state could be detected and certain p2p functions enabled or disabled accordingly? I really want this to work!

Wooohooooooo! Multi devices support! Now need group chat. 5 stars for bringing us this good stuff.

I was initially very frustrated, because the migration of my IDs wasn't working. But just to create a new ID under Android seemed to fix that. And under Linux, a lightning-fast update from the Devs fixed the daemon binary. Now, all I'll need for full stars, is an actual video call, that hasn't happened yet.
