The principal focus of mathematics teaching in key stage 1 is to ensure that pupils develop confidence and mental fluency with whole numbers, counting and place value. This should involve working with numerals, words and the four operations, including with practical resources [for example, concrete objects and measuring tools ].

At this stage, pupils should develop their ability to recognise, describe, draw, compare and sort different shapes and use the related vocabulary. Teaching should also involve using a range of measures to describe and compare different quantities such as length, mass, capacity/volume, time and money.
By the end of year 2, pupils should know the number bonds to 20 and be precise in using and understanding place value. An emphasis on practice at this early stage will aid fluency.
Pupils should read and spell mathematical vocabulary, at a level consistent with their increasing word reading and spelling knowledge at key stage 1

KS1 maths has teamed up Maths4UK (www.maths4uk.co.uk) and soon students will be able to store their test score on UK's leading maths practice portal www.Maths4UK.co.uk.

The content is great but the pictures and type face are tiny as are the buttons. Could be improved a lot by making it twice the size.

This is one of the better apps we could find but it would be made even better if there were reports to track progress

My two kids are glued all day solving the quizzes.Their skills have improved sharply and its worth the money. I would recommend 5 stars!

Y70%
by Y####:

The app looks good overall however the "Next" button is very small and the choice option buttons are small also. Could you make them wider? But most annoyingly there are so any spelling mistakes - "recongised", "quater" are just I picked up in the first minute. Surely there's no excuse for not running spell check through?

A great app but would be improved by a simple history graph per subject. My daughter records her own results in a notepad. Its good for them to see that over time and with more practice their results get better.

For example some of the shape tests will ask for the child to choose a rectangle. If the child then picks the square they will be told that they were wrong even though that is a perfectly correct answer.
