Detexify LaTeX Recognizer

I used to like this app a lot. But lately it's been acting very weird. Every time I try to get it to recognize a symbol, the app randomly closes and returns me to my home screen!

However recently it has been unable to connect to the server every time I try to use it. When it did work it would have deserved 5 stars.

This used to be the single most helpful app on my phone during my undergrad years; now it fails to connect even after uninstall/reinstall. Big disappointment.

It was an excellent app, especially if you are a university student—like me—who is learning LaTeX. However, it doesn't seem to work currently: displays "can't connect to server". Thankfully, there's a new Detexify app (by Olivier Marty) in the Play Store with a more modern UI, no permissions and that works offline; it's awesome! Not sure whether or not it has any connection to this one.

Connection problems make this app useless. It was a very useful app.

While the browser version is functional and useful, this app is neither. It cannot connect to its server and the developer has seemingly lost interest as this app hasn't been updated in about 6 years (at the time of writing).

This app was incredible in the past, but now never works because of server errors. Shame.

It used to be a great app, for some reasons it is abandoned (both the paid and the free version), so sad.

Always shows network connection failed even when all other apps are functioning superbly. Would give zero if such an option is there

This is most prob the best app on my phone, I use it more than actually making phone calls! Works perfect!

It works quite well, and it is definitely faster than looking through lists. However, it would have been nice if it gave us an option of downloading sets of symbols, say "Download Maths", "Download Smileys", etc., for faster offline mode. (This would have been easy to implement as this software as it is stores symbols in cache anyway.)

This was a very cool app. But now I'm about to reinstall it, and I see it wants access to my calls? No thanks.

App does not work anymore. Just says "there was a problem with the server connection". Seems like everyone else has the same problem too based on these reviews

Quite a useful app, recognized all of the symbols I tested it with. Will come in handy, a lot faster than scrolling through documentations.

It doesn't work. It fails to recognise anything showing an error message "cannot access the server".

Encounters a problem while accesing a network every time. "Simple and useful. Must have for every latex user! When I started to create latex documents I used it a lot, now it helps me find rarely used symbols. It is hard to believe that it's free!"

Shows error message. 'unable to connect to server. Try later'. Would change review if starts working.

Can't you delete a symbol if you draw it the wrong way? Otherwise its good.

Was incredibly useful. The website still works but unfortunately the app hasn't functioned for some time now so there is no point downloading it.

This was awesome until it stopped working. I can put up with the ui being for smaller screens, but when it just plain doesn't know how to find its server, it becomes utterly useless.

It allways says: "There was a problem with the server connection. Please retry later."

Apparently the server is down, and so the app does nothing anymore :-(

This used to work spectacularly, but recently every time I try using it, I only get the error message "There is a problem with the server connection. Please try again later", which renders the app useless.

Seems not to be working anymore (could not connect to server) . The website is great! Please, please, please make it working again! (if you have any more time to spare please also make a higher resolution version). Will buy the support version as soon as it works again...

This was perfect when I first downloaded it and needed to look up latex symbols quickly. Like everybody else, though, I'm only getting server errors now. If it worked again I would change my review to a 5.

This is one of those apps you didn't know you needed until you installed it. Works amazingly well.
