Tymer (Unreleased)

Tymer is a research tool app intended to collect information on smartphone behaviour and ask surveys relating to mood and lifestyle choices. All research participants will be assigned a unique participation code in order to activate the app. For further information on this study, please refer to the information sheets provided at the experiment briefing, or contact us: tymerapp@cardiff.ac.uk.

Features include:

•  Answer surveys relating to mood and lifestyle choices, delivered to you through standard Android notifications
•  You can keep track of your progress in answering the surveys through the main app interface
•  Pause participation in the study through the pause and resume buttons, in the main app interface

Permissions explained:

•  "accessibility service" - Required to allow Tymer’s background data collection operations to run.
•  "run at startup" - Required to allow the app to restart itself when the device turns on.

•  "full network access" - Required for checking whether a network connection is active before sending/receiving anonymous usage data.
•  "stop the device from sleeping" - Required to allow for some background processing, this is only used where necessary and only for seconds at a time.
