Zendo secure messenger for Android
Zendo is a mobile messaging app that ensures private communications between users (text messages and photos for now, with more formats on the way). You exchange encryption keys in person, so it is like a digital handshake – an exchange of trust and friendship.
Zendo is secure, anonymous, easy to use, and free.
Secure – users exchange one-time pad encryption keys in person. Unlike other messaging services, no server is involved in the key exchange, so there is no “man in the middle” who could potentially read or copy your messages. The Zendo app encrypts each message before sending. Your messages are secure in transit, since only the receiver’s Zendo app can decrypt the messages. All communications within Zendo stay in the Zendo app by default (including photos), so nothing is stored in the cloud.
Anonymous – we respect your privacy and do not collect or track any personal information about users or about conversations. We do not upload your contact list to our servers. Since you do not provide your personal information and nobody else can read your messages, your Zendo messages do not form part of your permanent record on social networks.
Easy to use – exchanging encryption keys with your friend is simple – you get together in person, each of you taps one button in the app (“Display” or “Scan”), scan the code on your friend’s device, and the keys are securely exchanged.
Free – we want to build the world’s most secure messaging platform and encourage widespread use, so we are not charging for the app and not collecting any user data to “monetize.” In the future, we plan to add optional premium features for a fee.
Hasn't been updated for over a year, has development ceased?

Finally done right. Key exchange only in person, people can complain all they want about convenience, get crappy telegram if you want that. No servers for key exchange is ALWAYS the most secure. Great job devs!!!
Cant even send keys..looks like the only way to ever to use this app is to be right with the person to scan QR code? That makes alot of sense ..I can just talk with the person! -10 stars in my book until the developer at least responds to major bugs in this app
Everything working as expected. If the app really is using One time pad, it's far more secure than other apps like Textsecure. Only one important thing is missing : the possibility to add a password to lock the app. It's nearly a deal breaker for me.
No issues so far. Interface is neat and simple. Delivery and read notifications are a huge plus. Messages delivery is instant. I would appreciate if you add the option to delete messages from both ends. It's time for an update though
Wonderful app and idea using OTP, but could the developers give a little more detail about the connection, does it use SSL, and does this connection use perfect forward secrecy too? If there was a FAQ or some more information about the implimentation of the security I would give it a 5 star rating..
This is awesome ... I have started to share with friends and they love it
Great little app! I get the reason for in person key exchanges, but another option at your own risk would be convenient.
Using a pseudo random generator to generate a OTP is not a real OTP. This is no more secure than using a whiten share-secret as the key for symmetric encryption. One nice thing about this app is sender verification is not necessary as the sender and the receiver have the same key. One question remaining. How are they going to make money?
No crashes, delivering messages in real time
Cool
As a chat app it works fairly well, but I would note that it doesn't seem to support gifs and for some reason does not signal to the keyboard app that it should capitalize the first letter in each message.
No issues so far. I would appreciate if you add the option to delete messages from both ends
Just a simple fix: the word 'Agreeements' is spelled incorrectly on the main page. Two 'e's would suffice.
The app won't start on my phone (Galaxy S2, Android 4.0.3) with error: Zendo was not able to create encrypted database. Your device may not have enough free space available. I have 1,2 GB free of system storage and 8,4 of USB storage free, with SD card of 2 GB completely empty.
The idea of one-time key is great, though I have no clue on how to verify it, but practically need to have group chat functionality while keeping one-time key security... that's challenging but would be perfect if so.
On LG P880, running Android 4.0.3 it cannot launch and comes up with "Cannot create encrypted database". I have 8GB internal storage free.
The concept behind the security protocol of using one time pads is genius. The only thing is how easy it will be to get people on board. I wonder if the OCR would work over Skype or other video communication.
I love the app, it's very fast and stable. The learning curve is a bit long, please work on educating users a bit more.
1st world wide release am part of you.
Cool
Good for sending sensitive information like passwords or just chat. NSA has no chance.

Was getting "Not enough space to create encrypted database error" on older Sony firmware. The lastest android update fixed that and the app works fantastic.
