RepeaterBook for Android
This app is really all you need for finding a repeater. Updated often and easy to use, it's the one you want. However, if you're done with the app, it continues to use Google's location resources and closing it doesn't mean it's gone. You have to force close it or it gobbles your battery. Back to 5 stars if they fix this bug please on nexus 5 and 7. Edit 1/8/17: Big updates since the original review and it works perfectly now on those devices and the 6P, and would give it 6 stars if I could.
I would be willing to pay for this. A free app that provides search functions or local information. With frequency, offset, physical location of repeaters, and ctcss tones, plus the ability to send in update requests. Absolutely awesome.
Just downloaded this and programmed my radios. Excellent app! All the repeaters around me ready to go straight in! Thank you!
You can't go wrong with this app. Easy to use an well thought-out. Developer thought this one through, great job guys. Don't leave home without it!
App now working very well, thank you for improving it. Upgraded to 5-star.
Great app for us travelling hams. New search function rocks and the updates keep pouring in.
Closes out while scrolling past 41 miles out. If you are only searching with 25 miles, that great.
It's a great app very easy to follow
Easier to use than before
This app is WAYYYY better than the crap being pushed by the ARRL, RAC and others. All the features you need and FREE to boot. Kudos to the developer!
Finally now, with a search feature, rather than forcing auto-locate or finding a grid square, this is an app I'd pay for (well, a few bucks at least). Easy to sit at home and find repeaters in a destination city and program a memory bank.
Now can manually set search location. Can use to jump back and forth between 2 locations like I have to. Easy to update now. Can use grid squares too!
Excellent app. Use it with FT100D when mobile & FT817 and FT 897 when portable. The search facility has made it much more useful when travelling as I can preprogram repeaters into the rig's.
Very easy to use in the car.
produced by obviously passionate enthusiasts! devs should be commended
Great tool for hams on the road
I love the ability to lookup repeaters in a certain radius of what your current QTH is or you can put in a gridsquare. Very useful for when travelling. Offline capability is very handy to have when looking up local repeaters or other repeaters when data coverage is weak. Entries are nice and large so I can easily tap them with my fat fingers. The search function is super handy, especially when I'm not in cell service. -- AD0JA
The best app available for finding repeaters in an unfamiliar location. I initially had trouble with the install because I had not deleted all the older versions but with assistance of the author, I removed all the old versions and the new version immediately installed.
Great to have a FREE (off line) repeater app that covers the world ! Loving the new search features. Why pay for less ??
Makes this useless
Works great, gives fast results based on your current location
Ham radio repeater lookup database
I use this app all the time when I travel. The new search feature is now working well on my Nexus 5x.
Every start
The new search feature works great on my 2nd gen Moto X.
My go to app when on vacation. Even at home, I use it. The new search even has made it better!
Thanks for sell the work out in top this app. I'll be publishing a video about it soon. Best 73
They have made some progress and great improvements
It's great and response from the maker is very quick. THANKS
Not sure why you NEED a Blue Cat dongle. Was hoping it was going to work with my standard Bluetooth dongle that I use for HRD. Need to spend $60 on a piece of hardware that costs about $5 to build, and you need to order it from overseas. I would be far happier to pay for the software and use a standard Bluetooth device, than wait for a unit to be shipped overseas that is overpriced. Also would like to put in a location so that when I arrive there, I know what repeaters I should have programmed into my radio.
The app is nice. To bad it didn't work with cheap eBay Bluetooth CAT adapters. I would pay the trending app price if I could use my eBay adapter which had the same $5.00 dollars worth of parts.
Still no map feature. Choosing location requires you know the grid square you want to search. Can't choose by city or zip. Gives only a very imprecise bearing to repeaters. Should give corrected magnetic bearing.
Excellent for a free app! Database seems up to date and is great for traveling or being on the road alot. Disappointed however that the remote control capabilities only work with their overly expensive bluetooth adapter rather than the one I have or one of the other dozens of them out there that are inexpensive and work with many other ham radio apps with no problem, so you can't even test the CAT capabilities if you wanted to. If it weren't for that I'd happily give it five 5 stars.
The best Android repeater guide available. AND always free. BlueCAT is wonderful. More accurate than the paid for version endorsed by ARRL.
Works great, active support.
This app works better than the arrl app.
This kicks the ARRL's Repeater Directory app clean into last week. So much faster with more accurate records. Very impressed with the functionality and ability to indicate potential repeater candidates for the person you would like to work at the far end of any desired IRLP, EchoLink or D-Star path.
RepeaterBook along with the Blue at interface switches my ic7000 (works with other radios as well) directly to the repeater frequency, sets up the shift and the CTTS tones simply by touching the repeater name on screen. It makes it possible to drive and still use the repeaters. Many years ago the shift on 2 metres was always the same and most of us could whistle at 1750Hz. These days it would be difficult and if not impossible to do on the move. Add to this the convenience of having on screen the repeaters
Unable to get location fix. Can't use it anymore. Even with GPS turned on. ... It's been several version updates and still doesn't work with regular GPS. Seems to require Google Location Tracker.

A unique and thoughtfully designed app that provides detailed information that really enhances the enjoyment of our hobby. The issue with the duplicate city name not having an associated state name in the geo-search has been resolved. Thank you for the prompt attention and your interest in adding that capability. A "can't live without" app. Bravo!
