Zap-Map: EV charging points UK for Android
Help! Since the update I can't get the app to load charging point which makes it kinda pointless! I have signed in and selected the type of chargers but no points! Help!!
I've changed my rating from 1 star to 4 since I can use the app on my Redmii Note 4 :D Only issue now is that if I scroll too fast the chargers disappear. Scrolling slowly, however, shows all chargers in map. Minor issue. I can live with that.
Invaluable app. Current version doesn't allow me to enter my EV model within the "Your EV models screen". The dropdowns for the make and model of the EV are not filled and therefore will not dropdown and nothing can be selected. UPDATE: I re-installed my phone and it's working fine now. 5 stars!
If app goes into background it loses all the charging points and won't show them again until it is closed and restarted
This is a great app for EV drivers in UK. Live availability data really makes a difference. Also good to see so many user updates.
Brilliant app for EV drivers. My go to app to plan long trips.
Works when polar and the others have crashed.....
Well, it's a must-have app if you're going distances in UK in an EV. **If charging points fail to load - try going to Google Play Store, My Apps, press 'Start'. It's always worked for me!** >> Zapmap Admin - is this a clue as to what's going wrong with pins not loading? << 4 stars because of one unadvertised pain: distances shown to a charging point are 'as the crow flies'!! Most helpful! Needs to be made clear they is not 'as the crow drives an EV!!
Love the app, but... I wish, I could check the live status of the chargers if it's being used, or not before I make my way to it, maybe it's just me being thick and don't know how to look at it properly - that's 1
Was down for a few hours due to a server problem. Now working fine so changed my 1 to a 4. They replied to my feedback and informed me of the problem so great. So use to polar never working i assumed this was going the same way.
Whats happening since Update. Oneplus 3t. Slow loading wont allow me to login. Wont reset password.. Such shame Updated 20/062017 All good now and thanks for prompt help
Was good but now have to login every time and charging points often don't load. The perfect example of an app that has gone downhill instead of uphill. Such a shame.
Doesn't work since update. No charge points show on map even after applying filters. Cannot enter EV model as blank fields are shown. What a shame it was an excellent app.
Great app that aggregates all UK charging networks in one map. Main networks now also show live statuses and app provides ability for users to send and receive on-the-ground info/feedback in real time. App is a must have for EV users in the UK and ROI.
The app I first go to when planning a long journey in my EV, the live data is very welcome. I'd love to see a universal payment system integrated into the app like PlugSurfing have done in mainland Europe.
Unable to set up vehicle. Can't find chargepoints. Used to be good app sad.
Used to work all ok. This version isn't listing any charge points now though?
A pity, does not work well on Sony X Compact. Does not zoom normally. Use online version.
This is the best for all the network chargers view in one app. As of today 28-6-2017 the app works.
Works for me
Not working
The best app when looking for EV charging in the UK. Massively improved and faster than ever. Thanks Suggestions: - connector type filter by vehicle / default presets- include a social factor like Waze with points to encourage activity & up to date info - I like the free parking filter however if it is possible a non dedicated car park filter NCP - Parking rates link parkopedia - navigation.
Hey guys nice update and I'm eager for more live data. But I really need the app to remember what my last filters were; besides the fact it isn't defaulting to my Renault Zoe plugs and power but also not remembering when I'm telling it to only show 43kVA and 22kVA between app starts. Good job guys, just needs this little upgrade
Essential and go to app for EV newbies like myself. Would be great however also to have some kind of offline mode as most info unavailable if no data signal!
Nice quick turn around on the contacts issue. Why on EARTH does this need to read my contacts? No thank you.
Great! Getting better.
Much better presentation. Like the live integration with Polar and Geniepoint.
Much better. :-) It's a bit sluggish when fetching the points and doing a map move/zoom, but usable now. Could do with implementing some threading to make the GUI smooth. It's currently jerky on move/data fetch.
Why is it so hard for app developers to include a landscape mode?
When upgrading to the new updated version on loading it would stop when initially loading. Problem Solved, you have to clear the ZapMap app Cache and it loads ok, however surely this is something the update should do or instruct to remove the previous version first.
Update on v2.0.6 Beta. App no longer functions / can't get past the welcome screen (a bit like most of the E-car charge points in Northern Ireland) unless you reset the default text size on your phone to small.
Could be better as not all points are shown.
As a Map (and only a map) it is a 5 star. However that's pretty much all it is good for and there are other applications that function as a map *and* other things. I tend to use ZapMap as a first hit for information, and Open Charge Map for when I am desperate(it seems to have more obscure places included). You probably also need PodPoint and Ecotricity apps to actually activate the charge points when you get there. Can't say it does much other apps don't do other than have a friendly interface. But then a friendly interface is a nice thing.
On Galaxy S6, android 5.1.1 app crashes every time. During "Data loading". It use to work fine for last few weeks, but stop working today.
On the whole I've found the app very useful, I use it whenever I'm making a longer journey to plan stops and check the status of chargers etc.
This is THE most accurate map of charging points in Northern Ireland, much better informed than the offical e-car site. We have "found" a number of public charging points on zap that are not on the government sponsored map ! The status of points is MUCH more accurate. If I had to make a wish it would be a journey planner that bypasses known faulty chargers... Oh and maybe some sort of a callout feature to the community if a charger hasn't been reported on in over a month.
It's just too slow to place the locations on the map. It can take up to 30 seconds. It's not clear when it's finished so you're never sure if there is a charge point in the area or its just not finished drawing them yet... Fire your developer.
Very useful. Have relied on it a number of times. Allowing user feedback is very handy, given the varying condition other drivers can leave the chargers in. Glad we have it.
This is a really comprehensive collection of information about ev charging stations and is invaluable when planning a journey and when you are away. The information contained about each station is often more detailed and relevant than the individaul network's own such map, even down to prcise details for finding the station within the car park or wherever. Thank you Zap-Map!.

Edited to say that after months I now can sign in, hurrah! So for now all appears to be well, thank you. Can't sign in, even though my user name and password are correct, meaning I can't leave updates on the status of chargers. The app often needs closing and restarting to properly display charges on the map. All this is frustrating but when I'm in a situation of needing a charge point, finding one out of service, needing an alternative, I need an app that is speedy, reliable, accurate and allows me to update other drivers.
