Yousician - Learn Guitar, Piano, Bass & Ukulele for Android
Sorry, you either pay 100 dollars or you are stuck with a useless app. 10 minutes per day is just too limited, even for me that I almost have no time to play. The app used to be good weeks ago, now with the new update its just too strict.
It was awesome! I play the electric guitar and in just 2 days I learned more than I did in three months! Also where I live it wouldve costed me $165 a month to get guitar lessons while this only cost me $10! Truly a great investment for all who are trying to learn the guitar, uculele or piano.
Why can't I play without feedback after the free lesson anymore?? It's really infuriating. If it didn't have glitches and sound problems, I'd get the premium version, but it's not worth it with so many problems that you haven't fixed in over a year. Very dissapointing.
It's crazy helpful but You have to pay $10 and Sadly I don't have credit card but the 7 day free trial was amazing. It improved me a whole lot with the Ukulele. Yousician if your reading this may you plz give me a nother lil free trial lol. Thanks for making playing music so easy.
Lags like crazy when I try to play in practice mode. It also registers background noise as notes being played. I passed a lesson in a quiet room without playing a single note.
One problem I see is that the teacher keeps referring to the strings backwards. On a ukulele, the G string is the "bottom" string; A is the "top." And you move "up" as you move toward the sound, and "down" toward the tuners. Should just explain what seems odd to a newbie instead of teaching them mistakes.
Sadly I have to give it two stars. The app was heavily advertised to me as I'm looking for a useful app to learn to play my Manjolin. I didn't think it was a good shot, but I figured you give the algorithm the benefit of the doubt. It fell short.
You need to fix the mic problem, for some reason the sound sounds distorted and it wouldn't pick up my guitar, despite it being tuned to a t,l. It is not a problem with my phone
At first it was a little decent and fun app to play around with (Guitar). Then they introduced the lesson feature which was neat until they started putting the same lessons from the previous lessons- it was all just the same thing everytime. One thing that I liked was that you were still able to play songs (without feedback) even when the free lesson time ended, but ever since this update it REMOVES that option to continue playing which is a complete bummer!!!
Now the technology of my device has more or less reached the ambition of this app, congratulations to the devs for a great quality app. I have used it for piano and uku, my playing has improved on both. Still a bit expensive to subscribe but worth it.
Was probably a 4-5/5 star app before they removed the option to view songs without feedback when your lesson had finished. The removal of that feature makes the app seem more money hungry and less fun/useful
Definitely getting your moneys worth, this app is a God send. I've been trying to learn bass but lost motivation. The app sets goals for each session breaks down everything for you.
Love yousician for learning the guitar. Especially appreciate that the app is continually being updated and improved. Prolly only scratching the surface on all the features available. Is there a YouTube channel for tutorials? Really enjoy the tailored lessons.
By far the worst music teaching app ever. First you're doing simple strings and then it goes into all this complex stuff at a high tempo and its hard to keep track. Would not dare waste my money on this awful app. UNINSTALL
I love the concept, but I'll play the right note on at the right time on the guitar and it will mark it wrong. It does that far too often and it's very frustrating. I don't know how to resolve this.
Recent updates make this entirely useless. Lag is unbelievable. Is this win95? You can't play along because your processor is constantly trying to catch up from the U.I. hogging all available resources. Asus Zenphone Max should easily be able to handle this garbage.
This is the best app ever! Don't be convinced by the people who said it was a horrible app, they probably just don't have the capacity for learning an instrument. I've been using it for a week and already know nearly 10 notes on ukelele and I am playing songs you hear on the radio! Best app ever! I've tried every app out there and this is THE BEST. Happy playing!
Was 5 stars until today. Right now it's just a paid app, and a really expensive one at that. Before, we could simply play the songs without going for the lessons, now they blocked off everything unless you pay for premium. You basically have only 10 minutes in the app now.
Took me a few days to find my way around the app but now I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I've recently paid to upgrade so that I can have longer practice sessions. Well worth the money but great that there was the option to try it out first.
Currently, I've bought my new guitar and don't have any private teacher. But Yousician is doing great to me????! Good Job! Help this 13 yr. old boy(me) to master in guitar! Thanks Yousician.
Wow! I'm a advanced guitar player and I've taught guitar too. This app is the first thing I would suggest to a complete begginner. And it's also a very good practice and song learning tool for more advanced guitar players.
I like the app. It's ok. I can see why so many people find it useful. I wish there was more tools for beginners though. If you get stuck on something -- for me it was playing difficult cords on guitar -- the app puts you into "practice mode" where it slows down the song. Sometimes this is helpful, such as when I can't switch my fingers fast enough. However, when it comes to cords, the problem isn't about speed but more about form. If you don't press your fingers down the right way, the cord won't sound right. I was having such difficulty, that the song slowed down past 25% and ended up getting frozen. At that point I had to force quit the app. Also, the "free week premium" doesn't seem to be free. After getting bombarded with pop up saying I should try it out so I could be "the guitar player I allways wanted to be," I decided to try it. However, the app requires that you enter a credit card number to pay for the premium account before it lets you get the "free trial!"
DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP! It is a big rip off and the microphone can't even hear you. I was playing ukelele and I kept playing AM7 but when I went to play a C it wouldn't work. So I tried a AM7 note and the app said that was a C
Edit: as soon as I gave this app a 5 star rating, it stopped letting me practice without feedback past the "free" lesson time. I used to be able to practice more without it telling me if I was doing it right/wrong past the allotted 10 mins. I couldn't progress in level doing that, but I could at least solidify what I had learned. Feeling let down. :(
Absolutely love the app. It helped me relearn guitar and rekindle my passion. The only bad thing is it's been glitching a lot lately! It has trouble loading the songs and when I try to play it'll freeze. If they fixed these glitches and didn't cut you off after the practice time then it would be perfect! Makes me not want to buy full version if it's not going to work at full capacity.
Yousician is great for learning techniques and exercising your fingers, but not great for learning songs - it's a bit like tring to learn city streets by using a gps to navigate about: you don't learn efficiently.
ABSOLUTE JOKE. THEY CON YOU WITH THE FREE TRIAL BY MAKING YOU THINK YOU PAY A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION OF €10 WHEN THE FREE TRIAL IS OVER BUT THEY CHARGE YOU AN ANNUAL FEE OF €120. DISGRACE
Hi. I loved this app but i am not able to practice on it after my free lesson time is over. Even without the feedback! Can you please help me?
This was a great concept. The app was really helpful. For about ten minutes. Now, I can't get the microphone to pick up my guitar unless my phone is right next to my guitar. I cannot sign up for the premium version because it is too expensive for me to afford right now, so I am stuck with free. I am not getting near enough practice time to make any progress and I am very disappointed in what I thought would be an amazing app.
This app has been amazing! I haven't felt this successful with an instrument since being in school band class. Even in the free mode I feel like there is a lot to gain from it. In the end the membership isn't that pricey either which makes this all the more doable. Way cheaper than most private lessons locally. Totally fun too. For those skeptical, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try, who knows you might fall in love with it too :)
I've tinkered with the piano all my life, but never got lessons. I've struggled to read music and resigned myself to memorizing bars to learn a song, only to have it disappear if I didn't play it every day. I'm learning fast with this app, and think that if I keep practicing I'll finally learn to read music fluently! I'm very excited about this app, and encourage anyone serious about learning an instrument to try it out.
I really enjoy the app. It is very effective. I have only had it for a day and I am already playing songs. I only wish to have more free practice time, I go through it really quickly. Also It keeps saying I don't have internet when I have strong connection. Please fix this! It is an amazing app though. I look forward to learning music! ????????????
The application ripped me off. Without any warning I was shocked that they took 170 $ from me as annual subscription. A money that I really needed since am going through financial trouble. Advice: when ever you sign up, just up subscripe to not be shocked with no warning by next year
Was a 5 star app until today. Imagine my surprise when I find that I can no longer play songs from the song library when I don't have lesson despite doing this many times just without the feedback. Disgusting money grab. I will not be paying money to get premium (like I was going to do) to play a handful of songs that are actually relevant to the music world which users actually had to make because Yousician don't. Absolutely sickening.
Was gonna start Violin, thought maybe Guitar would be easier. Started youtube videos to begin and just boring and not helpful. This ad popped up, took the free lesson and trial and immediately subscribed! Amazing program here, and super fun. 3 days later im jumping chords, playing basic riffs. Just simply awesome. Practice and the grace of God ill be playing songs in a month at this rate.
Don't get me wrong it's a great app but... when I was trying to learn guitar I would spend so long tunnning my guitar with the tuner on the app, but if I used my own tuner it I would spend like 3 minutes tunning. The same thing would happen with my piano, I would play C but it marks it as D#
Was suggested to me and highly advertised for an app to learn piano. I couldn't even get past the tuning section because it wouldn't recognise the notes. It thought D was a C# and G was a high D or that my A was a low B. Skipped and it stopped after 5 notes asking me to play a note I'd already played 6 times but no matter how much I pressed it, wouldn't recognise the note. Waste of my time.
Very effective app for learning the guitar. One problem: in the free version, after your 20 minute lesson was over you could play songs without feedback however, after the recent update, you can no longer do that so playing the guitar using this app (the free version) is limited to just 20 minutes.
I have had a guitar for many years. Like most people, I learned a few songs then put the guitar down and only picked it up occasionally. With this app I am excited to pick it up every day. The app teaches in a fun way and I'm actually learning more than repetitive notes and chords. The app tests your ability to begin with, so all player levels can learn plus as a bonus it matches you up with actual songs that you can learn that are at your playing level. GREAT APP!!!

Mediocre app at best. Pro: decent at teaching you to play Con: doesn't really teach you songs. Pro: it has an auto transcribe feature to turn any YouTube feature into a playable song. Con: it's terrible and doesn't work. Pro:... No more. Con: the sensitivity sucks without your guitar plugged in. Con: they just changed the app to block or severely reduce the free trial. Con: their customer support sucks. Con: their subscription service malfunctions and blocked me from purchasing the paid function. Not impressed.
