How lucky am I? First, I get to spend 20 years living my dream job as a sportswriter, and covering World Series, Super Bowls and the Masters golf tournament. Now, I get to help people buy and sell homes, which is even more rewarding.


In both careers, I've been able to enjoy this without leaving my hometown of Columbus. I'm now in my ninth year of real estate -- all at Coldwell Banker Kennon, Parker, Duncan & Key. I've been fortunate to achieve some awards, include Life Member of the Circle of Excellence. But the most meaningful to me was when my company recognized me for the Golden Rule Award. Ethics and integrity mean more to me than production numbers. If you treat people right, work hard, and stay on top of this ever-changing business, the production will take care of itself.


In these changing times, I've developed an additional specialty -- dealing with shortsales. What''s that, you say? A shortsale is a transaction in which the seller''s lender agrees to take a loss at closing in order to make the deal work. So if you know of anyone who needs to sell their home but doesn''t have any equity and the resources to make up the difference, please have them call me. Oh, and let them know that confidentiality is extremely important to me.
