Master Yang teaches you the meaning of every tai chi movement in a one-on-one private tai chi class. Tai Chi Chuan is a kind of moving meditation with ancient roots in Chinese martial arts.

Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming is a world acclaimed master of Tai Chi and Qigong, and he personally guides you through a series of easy-to-follow Tai Chi movements. Tai Chi, or Taiji, is short for Tai Chi Chuan, or Taijiquan, which translates from Chinese to “Grand Ultimate fist”. Tai Chi is an internal-style Chinese martial art that can be traced back to the Chen family, the Daoists at Wudang mountain, and ultimately to Shaolin Temple.

When practiced slowly for health purposes, Tai Chi is a type of Qigong. Qi-Gong means "energy-work". Qigong (chi kung) is the ancient art of building the body's Qi (energy) to a higher level and circulating it throughout the body for rejuvenation and health. Some Qigong is practiced sitting or standing still, while other Qigong can be a kind of moving meditation. This gentle Qigong exercise is a highly effective way to reduce stress, increase energy, enhance healing, and generally improve your quality of life.

Qigong increases the quantity of energy in the body and improves the quality of your circulation through energy pathways, known as meridians. Qigong is sometimes called "acupuncture without needles."

Similar to yoga, Qigong can stimulate the entire body deeply with low-impact movement and develop a stronger mind/body connection. The slow, relaxed movements are widely recognized for their health benefits, strengthening the internal organs, muscles, joints, spine, and bones, and developing abundant energy.

Qigong can be effective in helping people with insomnia, stress-related disorders, depression, back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, bioelectric circulatory system, lymphatic system, and digestive system.

I've been a ymaa student while I was still living in Europe. Since there is no school where I live now in the US I haven't been able to do much without the DVD. As I also don't have a DVD player anymore these apps are the solution for me. Dr. Yang explains each movement step by step and even shows the application of them so you get to understand the meaning behind it. I really like being able to work on my form this way and I'm happy they made this app. I do have problems downloading some videos (even on fast Internet and sufficient space on my devices) but I'm able to stream the videos just fine so I can still follow. I do have two suggestions: 1) could you make it an option to download the video on a memory card please (as for the videos I was able to download, I couldn't pick that option, it just went to the device) and 2) the subtitle color (white) on the white tiles... Perhaps make them another color? :)

Free to download but cost to unlock videos for 10 bucks. Looks like a good well developed app. But its a hustle to make money. And the price to unlock a video is crazy. Plus its only one app with other apps to download plus the download took forever. Not my style. Good luck.

Having attended seminars with Master Yang I can safely say that this is as close to a lesson with him as you can get. Compared with the Taijiquan DVD (bit more advanced) this is a great introduction app.

Was a big download for only an introduction. I thought there might of been one or two lessons on the free version so one could decide if they wanted to purchase the full version but there was not. There was only a formal introduction. Very disappointed.

Only free history/philosphy and demonstration videos. You have to pay $10 to get any instructions. Demonstrations don't show if someone is a good teacher or if their teaching meshes with your learning style. VERY deceitful title.

^^^I have the instruction video at home and it is very thorough, but this blocks all instruction. I definitely recommend purchasing the content, though. Really, nothing worth while is actually free.

(Charles Hernandez reviewing) I Had the distinct privilege of taking a few classes lead by Master Yang & was thrilled to download this for my wife. I have almost all of Master Yang's books & dvds! He is truly one of the absolute best there is! We miss having him here on the East coast, & know how fortunate the West Coast is to now have his academy there! I can't recommend strongly enough any teaching aid offered by this Master as his tools are always very thorough and informative for the viewer to follow!
