Note: This application does NOT work for android 3.1 and above. It only works for OLDER phones
since you are locked out of your phone, in order to be able to install this application
your phone must either have internet connection or have usb debugging already enabled.
OPTION A:
if your phone has internet connection use your PC to install this application from
Google play.
once the application is installed on your phone you can use one of the following three ways to
activate it and reset your lock screen's pin or pattern:
a) use another phone to call your phone (hung up after application is activated)
b) plug your charger
c) reboot your phone
which ever method above you use, the "Active device administrator?" screen should appear.
select "Activate" and then select "Unlock Screen Lock".
if unlocking was successfull you may uninstall the application (use the application's option)
since it is of no use any more.
OPTION B:
if your phone does not have an internet connection you may be able to install the
application through a usb connection but only if usb debugging is already enabled on your phone.
if usb debugging is on (or you are not sure about it) then try the following procedure:
a) download and unzip the three files from the link below in a new folder on your PC

b) connect your phone to your PC using your usb cable.
c) open a command prompt and change to the directory where you installed the above files
d) type the command
adb devices
if usb debugging is enabled on your phone you should see the serial number of your phone
displayed by the command above. if no attached devices are found then you can not proceed
to installing the application.
e) if your phone was listed in (d) above, go to Google Play and purchase the application.
f) email us your Google order and we will send you the application's apk file.
g) save the apk file that we sent you to the same folder as above.
use the following command to install the application to your phone:
adb install ScreenUnlocker.apk
h) follow one of the 3 ways in option A to activate the application and reset your lock screen

I would think that an email would be sent directly to the account of the purchaser, because that's logical since I only have 15 minutes from the time of purchase to determine if the app will work. As requested in the instructions (f) email us your Google order and we will send you the application's apk file.), I forwarded my Google Order and requested the .apk file anyway, though. I have less than 10 minutes to see if this app works and still have not received the email. This email should be sent in a timely manner as time IS of the essence in this situation.

Just install it and use one of the three options and the lock is gone. Saved me a factory reset and loads of time.
