Storm Radar for Android
Visually stunning, accurate with a excellent u/i. Without doubt all the information one may require to keep abreast of the weather. There is no audible warning for National Weather Service alerts on this app or the other WU weather app, a "blemish" on an otherwise excellent application. In addition, no details on storm tracks; been this way for couple of months. Your inaction is effecting other developers. Please fix............
This has replaced the regular Wunderground app for me completely. I'm way more interested in storms and the way the data is collapsed in hourly and daily forecasts seems to be the way the original app should have been designed. Popping into the full screen radar on load and seeing all the nearby data is just fantastic. It doesn't hurt that the app is super quick and lean. Great job.
I truly miss the Intelicast app that Storm replaced. But I'm getting used to this and use it daily. As a sailing instructor for ECSailing, a good weather app is critical. This one has a lot to figure out, but once you get it how you like it, it's great. Missing one star because they did not include the forecasted surface map in the app... I have to go to the website for that.
Was awesome but now can't click on storm tracker analysis squares and get any information. Just says no data available. Here in Oklahoma I always rely on storm to be able to track time and distance to the nearest town including all around me. Plus being able to see hail probability, storm heights, wind data etc is key to knowing what's coming. Hopefully it gets fixed.
The wind speed is never right for my area. This morning the wind speed was 20 with 25 gusts. My storm app said it was 4mph with 0mph gusts. What the heck it's like this all the time. A little help please. Cause other than that it's pretty good. I live on the coast and fish alot so I really need the wind speed to be accurate.
April 2017: App won't recall my location at launch; I have to pick from my location list unless battery-intensive location service is on. Just let it start with the last-used location! /// Storm is one of the few Android apps with future Doppler radar. I moved to it after Intellicast (same developer) dropped predictive radar. The Weather Channel app has it buried under ads and click bait. I wish Storm showed hourly humidity, for planning outdoor exercise, especially in summer. (The Intellicast website shows this.) Also, would like ability to pause the radar loop.
Sure liked intellicast a LOT more. I absolutely hate the low-resolution radar display, nothing says accuracy like a 3 year old's watercolor painting. I did like the ios's version for lightning, time will tell if Android offers any comparison there
Let's begin with the name. 'Storm'. Could the name be any more elementary? Intellicast sounded far more 'intelligent'. For that reason alone I stopped recommending it to my friends. The app is not a smooth as it was before the change. I use an S7 and it still chunks along. Graphics at the bottom of the screen will not disappear every time after viewing. Whoever thought the change was a good idea should be selling used cars.
***UPDATE April 23rd:enhanced radar NOTworking, storm track info not available, no temp in status bar... Please fix these! Also, add description of changes with each update!*** Ok app, but IPhone version is GREAT!! change the storm icons to those present on older version of main WU app.(meso, tornado, thunderstorm, etc), And add option to change radar tilt and radar type (level 3,level2, composite velocity, tdwr, etc.) Thanks!
Overall good info in app. Future radar short time frame. Biggest thing negative is its making up cities. I have it setup to use current gps. It's just using major streets around and putting state behind it as the location. Only when your around the core of the city it correctly puts city/state. Big fail to me. Makes me wonder how accurate other info is
1. The app controls are not intuitive. 2. Data forecasting is always changing and is never dependable. For instance, this A.M. the current conditions radar showed a large rain front overhead but the future forecast radar showed no indication. What good is an app when I can step outside and obtain a better prediction than the capability of the app.
I have used storm for quite a while. It gives all the information I want and need in an efficient package without the extra junk that a lot of weather apps have. However, recently storms no longer show information when I click on them, and it has frustrated me greatly. If they fix this and get it working again, I will update the rating to 5 stars.
I have a show stable/farm. I'm outside everyday I and my animals depend on this app for temps, wind (and direction), rain, lightening, traveling conditions and safety. Storm is an exceptional weather app. There's no exaggerated hype like I've found in other apps. The hourly forecast is super handy too.
I have used Storm on my iphone, but the same app for Android is lame. Many of the features in IOS version are missing here. Storm track data does not show up. It is almost as though the developer got about half done and quit.
This has everything you could ask for. Tap each storm track thats blue yellow or red and get 4 more storm specific data boxes about the storm.. .... Update: 3/1/17 -Something changed recently. I have no storm details avaliable. Now, storm track details will NOT display from the individual storm upon tapping. Still waiting for customer service to respond to why? its been 6 days and still not even a follow up from them
This is a good weather app. Tons of options, a good radar. I can definitely nerd out with this app. Unfortunately, it seems to be causing intermittent phone lag to the point of me being unable to use my phone for 5 to 30 seconds. The screen freezes and no input works. As long as this app is not installed, everything is fine. I'm on AOSP March 2017 update, Nexus 6P. What a shame.
It's severe Storm season. The Storm tracks still have zero information. Not good for a app called Storm. Last update, February? Let's make a deal...fix this radar, bring it over to your sister Weather Underground app and put this one out of it's misery. Concentrate on one.
This is a great app to use. Very few buy in adds, a little learning curve but very easy to use once all setting are understood. It updates no matter where I'm at, easy to add cities and remove cities as needed. I will never use a different weather app. Best ever weather app available today.
This app works better than most but has one annoying flaw. When looking at the map during a storm all the roadways and points of reference disappear under the storm making it hard to zoom out and still identify your location. I have tried adjusting the settings but in order to make it work I have to add features I don't want. Intellicast is still better.
Still has issues. Sometimes it shows accurate information and sometimes it's like it's guessing. What gives? I use this to keep tabs on my PWS when away and for the most part it works fine but at times, it's like it's a generic weather app getting it's information from someplace hundreds of miles away. Until this is fixed, I'm removing one star. I can't believe all the complaints about not being accurate. Are people really that stupid? Unless you have a PWS at your location, then shut up. The weather is never the same in every location. Even two blocks away. It shows my personal weather station's data without flaw. Also, the radar seems to be faster. For my wishlist, I would like the temperature to be exact and not "rounded" when using PWS data.
I really like the cool features like wind streams and lightning strike. There needs to be some more widget options/sizes. It seems to have an issue getting my location and updating, from time to time, which causes a huge battery drain. All in all I am going to give it a shot for a little while. The push notifications do not seem to be working.
After waiting 4 months for a usable App we get Bug Fixes, which did exactly that, fixed up the App with a few more Bugs. After numerous "unfortunately the App has stopped" errors or the App totally freezing, we give up. Intellicast for this? What a Joke. Don"t waste your time with this App, It's now become just about unusable. What a Mess. Devs, you should be ashamed to put your names on this. Well behind competing Apps.
Not bad but the only time lapse loop that works is radar. All other loops just give start of the hour and zip to the end of the hour. No 5 minute intervals like radar. Or they don't move at all. Fix and I change my review.
After sitting in the rain and looking at this radar showing clear skies above, I noticed that the radar image was 10 minutes old. Contacted customer support twice asking for an explanation/key for the storm track symbols, no response. Intellicast was so much better, smoother radar images, more up to date and accurate. Deleting Storm app.
Very beautiful and intuitive weather app with useful alerts. Desperately needs one or two additional widget options. It only has a tall blocky one, that while pretty and informative, doesn't balance well on home screen grid.
Theirs an old saying "if it's not broken, don't fix it.". You are updating it until it's worthless. The temp in the statice bar should correspond to the temp in the app. I can change the stations but the temp in the statice bar doesn't change and I can't find a station showing that temp. You kept updating WU into Oblivion now you are doing the same to another used to be great app. From 5 stars to two. Great improvement if you are shooting for one star.
I am very happy with this app. I was sad after my old Intellicast app informed me that they are shutting down. But they recommended to try the Storm app instead. It is very helpful, the alerts are informative, and the radar is great. All in all, a wonderful weather app, and I highly recommend it!
Very good app. Only thing that would make it better is being able to select an alert tone. Right now it just is the default msg tone. Is it a message or a weather alert I should be paying more attention to? Add this feature rating would be a 5.
I really like this app. Only one small problem. I'm not sure how they get their place names. It shows that I live in Stokes and work in Klondike. Neither of those are correct, or even places that exist in my state. The weather info is correct, however, so it's only a minor annoyance.
Being able to pay to remove ads is really important. I work in information security, incident response and critical infrastructure protection. In addition to the myriad concerns from ad-stalking, ad traffic interferes with app data transfer and performance. In this circumstance, ad traffic interferes with emergency response. I hope the developers will find a way to restore the option to pay for an ad-free version because this is one of the best -- if not the very best -- storm apps I've seen.
I've used this app before for personal storm tracking, I'd have given this higher rating if they hadn't gotten rid ad-free version, especially since I've purchased a subscription for Weather Underground and it can't be used on this app too. Highly annoying.
This app has improved since its introduction. The weather info has been accurate within reason. However, seeing storm tracking icons with no information once opened is not helpful, is a nuisance on the low side and might be dangerous if depended upon in a bad weather emergency.
Almost perfect weather app - and charges accordingly.Wing flow is good addition- enabling more exact spotting of severe weather. It is difficult to read lowhigh readings but fronts are clearly marked. now to integrate my PWS into the system.
I don't know what has happened to storm but it now constantly crashes and causes system hangups on my tablet AND phone. Getting alerts used to be much better. Please fix!
There is too much clutter when trying to view the radar. I want to see ONLY the radar and not all that other garbage on the screen. Want the dew point on the widget. That "feels like" temp is a useless POS.
It used to give details about storm cells, now it constantly says no details available. Please help as I truly used this feature!! It worked all last spring/summer and then stopped before this spring. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you for your help!!
"Rating" comes up with past tense: "Loved it." THAT'S wrong!! I 'LOVE IT!' THE BEST wx app that has it all on ONE screen, rain, winds, front lines, temps, etc etc. Now my go-to-1st wx app!
Overall the app is great. The only issue for me is that the closest station to my home location is one of those personal weather stations, & it gives very erratic & inaccurate temperature info.
I'm leaving this app. Intellicast was far more superior. Right now the app says it's 92° & that I'm in 2 different cities, both being WRONG-ONE doesn't even exist-based on the zip code I provided. Landscape view no longer exists. I can provide more if app owner would like to know more. I also have screen shots

Again, after what - 5 YEARS - Weather Underground has fallen short of an acceptable weather widget! Do you people have any intention of creating excellent apps or are you just a lot of hot air?! The font on the widget is much too small to be comfortably readable. Even when I resize the 2x1 or 4x1 to largest size, the fonts keep their original size! Amount of info is ok. No real inspiration to keep this over-blown marketing gimmick. You want a reference for an excellent widget and app? See Elecont.
