The Caravan for Android
Bad user experience. This is just pictures of the magazine zoomed out 10 times to fit a phone. You have to zoom in every time, and scroll both horizontally and vertically in order to read. If you have a small device, its a real pain. The view flickers when moving to the edges, adding to the frustration.
Not formatted for mobile... You have to zoom in and out perpetually... Wasted my subscription .... Please let me know when a proper mobile app is introduced. I will revise my rating.
Caravan is famous for its long form journalism (reportage). Unfortunately, reading anything more than a few pages on this app is a nightmare. The app doesn't follow any of Google's design guidelines, and is ugly. Magazines can't be cached for offline reading. Table of contents doesn't support jumping to a particular article. The layout has not been optimised for mobile. It features the same two column layout you would find in the print version.
I subscribed with all the enthusiasm and now the app is crashing everytime I open it. I have emailed support . It took them almost a month to respond. But they fixed the issue by releasing an update. I am very happy with the customer service. I am increasing the stars from 1 to 2 just for the customer service. But the app is still clunky. The pages take a long time to load. All the pages of a particular issue cannot be downloaded in one go for offline reading. That way one cannot read this magazine on the go, if you don't have internet connection. This app is just a scanned page version of the magazine. I wish they could format the pages such that they were much easier to read.
I subscribed with all the enthusiasm and now the app is crashing everytime I open it. I have emailed support and no response so far. Very disappointed. Please refund me my subscription of $10
Not at all friendly

Dislike the two column version of the magazine; for even a phablet that is not enough size to comfortably read. I am happy to buy subscription, but will wait until these design issues can be fixed. Note that some existing magazine subscription services also suffer from the same problem, Magzter is a prime example. In contrast, check out the site of even FirstPost for better readability, or The Economist for better readability, caching, and therefore portability.
