This is the Android app for WindowsCentral.com. (Formerly WPCentral and WMExperts!) C'mon, you know you read us. A few of you might have even hacked Android onto an HTC HD2 at some point. How great was that phone, right?
Anyway. Here we are. All the stories, editorials, reviews and everything else you get from our site — now in a handy Android app. Plus you'll get:
★ The latest from the blog. That means news, reviews, editorials - everything you can get from WindowsCentral.com, we've go it it here as well.
★ Widgets for the home screen and lock screen.
★ Comment on stories. We know you have an opinion. We know you like to point out typos. Now you can do it easily from our app.
★ Tip us to news stories. Get a spy shot of an unreleased phone? Have a story you think we need to see? Send it straight to us from the app.

APP PERMISSIONS IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Here's why this app asks permission for certain things, in plain English:
First off, we're using the Android 6.x Marshmallow APIs, which means you you might be asked to allow the app to do something — say, access your SD card — while you're using the app. That's a good thing!
★Photos/Media/Files & Storage: These two permissions are used so you can upload images and the like to our forums. They're also used for downloading our podcast and from our wallpaper gallery.
★Wi-Fi connection: This helps us better serve our award-winning content to you. It's used for analytics and to make sure nothing's going to kill your connection or anything.
★Full network access/prevent device from sleeping/view network connections/set wallpaper: Gotta have network access to use the internet. Sleeping has to do with playback, and wallpaper is for setting your wallpaper in the wallpaper gallery.

This app is awesome. For the Windows' Central staff, your audience is already multi platforms users. We use Windows, Android and IOS operating system in distinctly all at a time for differents reasons and approaches. Thank you for your open mind to share windows information with different platforms users. I have Apple devices (iPods, iPads, iPhone 6), Android devices (Samsung Note 3, Note 5, Samsung Gear, TAP A Note with S Pen) and of course my lovely Surface 3 and 2 others MS laptop for my family. Ever since switching from Windows Phone it's been great to still have this app to follow along with Windows/Microsoft news. However, I would love push notifications similar to the Windows app (rather than the widget) and photos don't show up in articles on here. Fix those things, and you've got a perfect 5-star app!

I just changed phone from W10M to an Android device but I still want to be updated with news about Microsoft, Windows etc. Good thing there's a Windows Central app on Android! I really like the interface especially the night mode.

App never automatically updates articles! I want to start by saying I love this app on my Surface Pro 3 and Desktop PC, and up until recently, my Windows Phone. I recently swapped to an Android phone (OnePlus 3) and duly installed all my favourite apps and MS services. I have found that whilst this is still the same quality app I use elsewhere, it will never update unless I physically empty the app cache through settings. I am now using Nougat 7.1.1 which has made no difference.

It is surprising to see how slowly this app will load an afternoon's content (maybe five articles) vs. the Android Central app loading 19 days worth of content in the same amount of time. I'm finally uninstalling this app and will be relying on the far faster Windows 10 version.

I only rated 3 stars because I'm a fan of WC but the app is really annoying. Refreshing of the homepage is a serious problem. News always have to reload, unlike in windows phone where you can read preloaded news with pictures.

After the AC update I'm very glad to see the black backgrounds making their way to the Windows Central App too! And even though lately the website itself has been just a dumpster of Minecraft articles and delusional editorials about WP not being dead when everyone knows that it is, there are still some nice articles there about Windows and Xbox which make it worth the read.

Its a good app. The problem i have is that it takes 2 sometimes 3 minutes to load new stories. Doesnt matter if its on lte or wifi, it takes forever. Fix the loading problems please.

Garbage app, articles never updates. I am on Pixel XL, I reinstalled couple of times. Works in the beginning then again stops working. I just uninstalled now for good and will just use the website

Used to love this app on Windows Phone. Now on android it takes way too long to load new news. Sometimes it doesn't at all. It should run as well as the Android Central app, but it doesn't. Really needs an update. I wouldn't even mind the ads, similar to AC if it refreshed faster.

I had to uninstall this app because it got all SJW political. I want tech news about Windows and Microsoft products I own and buy...not love letters to Obama and hate for our duly elected President Mr. Trump. How about no politics and sticking to tech?!!
