Google decided to secure the setting this app modifies; only system apps can change it now. You should get an error if you try to install it on jelly bean or later.

In theory, this would let you control exactly what gets turned off and what doesn't when you turn on airplane mode. Android defines cell, bluetooth, and wifi, and device manufacturers can probably use more if they want.
In practice, though, this setting is almost nothing like what the docs say. On the Motorola Droid 2, the only constant honored seems to be wifi. Bluetooth is always turned off, though I can manually turn it back on after airplane mode is engaged.
In general, you will just have to check and see what works. This tool is intended mainly for developer types who want to see how the value affects what their device does when switched to airplane mode. I can make no promises for how it will work from one device to another. (Just like with all of my apps.)
You have to go to the normal settings screen to actually toggle airplane mode. (Once I realized how little this value actually seems to control, it didn't seem worth it to build in actual airplane mode toggling.)

Using an old device on wifi only, this app does exactly what it said it does. No cell standby now and less whingeing notifications about missing sim card. Reboots work as well. Thanks!

I use my Droid X2 99% as WIFI device only, so i leave it in airplane mode and then re-enable Wifi. With this APP, i can toggle airplane mode essentially turning on/off Mobile Radio without touching the WIFI. (Leaving WIFI enabled). Absolutely Glorious!

I'm going to Afghanistan, and this is just what i needed. I can turn off cell reception to save my battery and leave Bluetooth on for my game pad.

I'm a regular traveller to the US and my bill is always sky high because on my Captivate because you can't use wifi in airplane mode. I just tested this and it works GREAT!! You just saved me hundreds! THANK YOU!!!

I have an old retired Inspire HD which still works great as a general "smart" wifi-only device; it allows me to browse the web, check email, play music in my car, etc, all without draining my primary phone's battery. It has no associated service plan, and thus does not need the cell radio active & draining the battery (and it drains a LOT when turned on). This app I consider an absolute necessity. It allows me to use my old retired phone MUCH longer between charges without having to sacrifice the utility of wifi connectivity. Thank you for this app, wParam.

Like others said, I had to reboot for Bluetooth to work. Other than that, this is the perfect app. Great job and providing additional functionality to the Android OS (without root!).

The only one after a few days of looking that allows me to rurn on flight mode and control BT radio. I wanted to turn on wifi and BT on airplane.mode. Could.not.until this app. Would like to see widget for main.screen, but not necessary

I have been seeking an easy way to turn off the cell radio in my Samsung Note without turning off wifi. I learned that I could turn on airplane mode and then turn wifi back on. Not particularly quick or easy but effective. With this app, I basically do it in one step! In conjunction with the Airplane On/Off Widget app by PotaLand, I get to avoid having to press/hold the power button to do this. Hurrah!
