About DSP Audio Filter
The DSP Audio Filter is a tool that enables you to filter frequencies from an audio spectrum by using your cell phone’s microphone.
This app was originally programmed for Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators to remove unwanted background noise and improve SSB and CW signals (Morse Code) but it can be used in different other ways.
For Example:
-Bird watchers can use it to filter out higher frequencies and eliminate street noise or other disturbing low frequencies.
-Musicians can filter out a spectrum of specific instruments.
The DSP Audio filter uses a freely adjustable lowpass and highpass filter which allows you to select specific filter frequencies and bandwidths. A waterfall visually displays the incoming audio spectrum to better identify the wanted or unwanted frequencies. You must use a headphone to avoid feedback effects.
Ham Radio Operator’s: Just place your phone’s microphone close to your radio’s speaker and listen to clear audio in your headphone.
How to use:
DSP Audio Filter uses a waterfall to display the incoming frequency spectrum. With 2 sliders the cut-off frequencies can be adjust. The areas which are covered by a grey blurry layer are cut out and they will not be passed through to the headphone. All other areas will pass the filter.
The DSP Audio Filter can be used with 4 different sampling rates (22050Hz, 16000Hz, 11025Hz and 8000Hz) which can be set in the settings menu. Unfortunately not all devices support those sampling rates. The DSP Audio Filter will check for the supported sampling rates and only allows the selection of the supported sampling rates.

This is the first version of the DSP Audio Filter.It has been tested on several Android devices and has performed very well. However, since we are not able to test the performance on all 150+ Android devices it might not work on some devices. If the DSP Audio Filter doesn’t work on your device you can uninstall it within 15 minutes for a full refund (this is the time frame given by Google and I am not able to change it). If the 15 minutes passes and you are not happy with the DSP Audio Filter, email me as soon as possible at info@wolphi.com. Please include your name and the model of your phone in the email. I will then refund you the money. It is important that you include the model of your device. I will try to find the cause for the malfunction or include your phone model in a list of “not working” devices.

This little app actually worked quite well.. I laid it on top of a k2 with all filters turned off. However through my headphones I was able to go very narrow to effectively filter out adjacent cw signals with the dsp app. Great!

Excellent at what it does, but what it does not do is stay running as a background service when my screen goes to sleep or when I switch to other apps. It's still a pretty cheap investment for experimenting with sound filtering to see if purpose specific hardware would be right for your application.

A good app that allows you to filter sound from MIC and listen it with a minimal delay. Missing only customization of waterfall, the rest is very good.

I used a headphones/mic splitter adaptor and a cable to plug my yaesu ft-817nd directly up to the phone in an attempt to use this app for its intended purpose, I.e. ham radio, and at least on ssb, it does nothing to improve the signal to noise ratio. It does process the sound, and all functions of the program seem to work with my Samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket, but it simply does not make faint signals any clearer or easier to understand. Admittedly, I have not used it for CW.

This is great app. During our induction motor testing I could filter bearing noise from electrical noise. Well. You have such a large scale. If you could zoom into couple khz instead of 20k, we could identify each sound on scale. But again, this is great app for my HTC vivid. Please improve this app.

I will experiment to see if the filter can have positive results with Tinnitus. Mine occurs 24/7 around 5800 Hz sometimes bearable otherwise unbearable!

I find this app very useful in listening to my beehives to find out about their health. Very nice functionality. The developer responds quickly and effectively if there are any questions.

This is the tool I wish I had when I was stuck on a ten hour flight with a whine in the audio system. Note: to apply this tool, having a background in frequency analysis helps.

All this is, is a software based variable Bandpass/Notch filter which is great for filtering out QRM on the edges of the signal you're trying to hear, but does nothing for QRN. If it does I haven't heard a noticeable difference. Still this can cut out a lot of the noise which makes it useful for older radios that lack any kind of filtering. Currently doesn't work correctly on my EVO Shift, but works great on my old G1. 4 stars if it starts working right on the Shift or adds QRN filtering. 5 for both.

I didn't think it was really a digital notch / bandpass filter but thought it's only a couple quid. LOL it is and works realtime not on a recorded file! Put the bandpass to a slot at minimum Herts with a 100 Hz width and put it on your chest where your heart is. Mesmerizing listening to heart with no other sound. Use it now to keep an eye on unusual noises from my marine diesel. Thanks man I owe u more than £2
