Q: I want to run Nmap myself from a terminal. Where are the binaries?
A: The binaries are (usually) saved in /data/data/com.wjholden.nmap/bin/.
Q: Is this a GPL violation?
A: I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think so. My sources are freely available and also licensed by the GPL. You are free to modify and redistribute my code provided you share those changes back, IAW the GPL. Free software is not always zero cost.
Q: Where is the source code?
A: Distributing source code along with Android applications is a bit impractical. Please download the source code from https://github.com/wjholden/PIPS.

A: This is NOT an official release from http://nmap.org, this is simply a front-end that calls to a precompiled Nmap binary.
Q: Do I need root?
A: No! You can use this program with or without root, although there are a few advantages to having root. I've seen a few problems with -O for Operating System fingerprinting (this would happen on desktop Linux as well). Non-root users will usually need to use the --system-dns argument.
Q: Will this work on x86 processors?
A: No. You are much better off using the official Nmap builds for x86 systems.

This is a good attempt of getting nmap on Android but this app does crash a lot. Only a few scans will actually work. Maybe one day he will get it working 100% but os fingerprint scans don't work and I am not sure its worth the money... No wonder Fyodor wanted the developer to change the apps name and icon! J/K. :-)

SGS3, Jelly Bean I am rooted, but UDP scans error out. Changing the screen orientation cancels the scan (so don't tilt your device too much while you're scanning) and there's no way to determine scan progress. The app doesn't give the capability to cancel a running scan. The status window cannot be cleared. This is a very poor product lacking basic functionality. The developer should be ashamed to collect money for it. Update: 8/9/2013 - Still no support, app crashes frequently.

Looks like a nice App. Doesn't work on my Atrix: Error detected at runtime: [1] Segmentation fault (core dumped) ./nmap --unprivi Marketplace says that "This app is compatible with your AT&T Motorola MB860" . . . or not.

Stupidly oversized. Installs as just over 3 MB, then 'verifies licence' and grows to over 14 MB that doesn't reduce when moved to SD.
