Dragon+ for Android
Bad interface, huge downloads. I don't get why it takes a few minutes to download each issue, and there's no cancel button once the process has started. Each issue also promise you free stuff that have already expired.
I'm ambivalent about the content but considering it's free and I occasionally find something interesting I don't feel like I have a right to complain about that. Based on content alone I'd give it a 3 or a 3.5. For me the problem is the user experience. The interface overly complicates straightforward content delivery. That the app is unusable while content (issues or free pdfs) is downloaded is mind boggling. That there is no option to download in the background makes no sense to me. While it remains free of course I'll use it occasionally, but only on days I'm feeling incredibly patient.
I enjoy the content, and appreciate the work put into bringing these issues for free. However, I've not once been able to download one of the Best of DM's Guild adventures. The download always fails.
The content is ok and I don't even mind the download aspect, but the thing doesn't run well. It freezes...a lot.
Love the app but even though I can move it to my SD card, the massive downloads go to main memory. Very bad practice. Fix this and then 5-stars.
Update: I installed a different version and it launched despite not having the Location permission. It's a decent little app that improves over a pure Web UI. The content hasn't been amazing, but if you're D&D nuts and looking for something to read, this is a good option. There's no reason for a D&D news app should require permission to access my location and then fail to load when I don't grant it.
Dnd friend recommend this app. I remember the magazine and thought I'd give it a try. I've read 5 issues already and I'm still working my way back. I really dig it.
Great App! New to D&D and I'm the DM, so this app is great. :) Free Mag that would cost 5 English pounds. Thanks D&D you rock.
Half of this app is links to Facebook, as a non Facebook user I find this app fairly usless
The app keeps crashing on android system and hangs pretty often. Great content but all in all unpleasant experience..
Very poor feature, dated interface, very little to no option. Basically just a newsfeed, I was expecting more from the product development team at WotC.
This app is awesome! I didn't know Dragon+ was free!
Love this app!! All the freebies are awesome!! The last best of the dm guild was awesome! You get up to date news. Just really amazing and glad I found it. Helping me with my games.
Sent a push notification.
Useful, like flipping through a magazine with included hyperlinks.
Crashes... alot
Its nice
This is nice if you want the comic or if you are the person this is truly aimed at. I am not, I am a player and I want an app geared toward the players. This app is garbage if you want to have all of your character sheets at hand in an easy official app that stays up to date with the current books. What we want is character sheets, spell lists, dice rolls, and gear management to start. Wizard's fails to provide digital resources for its players and dm's while giving us apps like this. Give us playtools
I started reading Dragon+ a few weeks ago and I've already read 3 issues cover-to-cover and am halfway through a 4th. The articles are all interesting and well written. Even the articles I didn't think I would care about were enjoyable and I'm glad I read them all. The app itself is easy to use and navigate. So easy to pull out and read anywhere. I highly recommend this app and plan on encouraging everyone in my d&d group to read this magazine.
It's a pretty great app. It delivers lots of interesting news and inspiration and the articles are well written. I would personally just like a few more tips and such for DM's but otherwise great app. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A MOBILE CHARACTER SHEET. Seriously I don't know why people are complaining about that. There are plenty of apps like that, this is a newsletter, community involving app.
Excellent app, I am happy to see the return of dragon magazine in a digital format. I was a long time reader since the early 90's and was sad when it went on hiatus. I am happy to see high quality content and articles in each issue. My one gripe, please bring back Dungeon magazine. Dungeon+? Keep up the great work!
A replacement to the old Dragon magazine is a great idea. The app is fine to navigate. I didn't experience the long of load times others are describing. I found the writing to be decent, but not outstanding. Everything improves after the first three-four issues which are overwhelmingly dominated by what are basically adds.
The interface is clunky, layout unsatisfying, doesntnseemed to be designed for a mibile device, it's slow to load each issue, I assume from file bloat on the website end. Honestly I'd rather read this using my tablet browser but pop-ups every time I touch the screen using the browser get very annoying, very quickly. Now it seems the website is even unusable from my PC anyway, really bad user end design. I'm just hoping someone with more time than me will scrape the data from their web page and make a readable PDF of each issue.
This app is almost impractical to use. It's slow, and clunky, it does not allow for pinching. I do not like squinting to try and read it. Why not just make Dragon+ a pdf? It would be so much better.
I would rate this app as unusable right now. Just for the fact that the app takes 10 sec to start and then minutes to download each issue while you can't do anything else. It needs some love to be worthwhile, please improve :) I want to read.
People are stupid they obviously dont understand that this is a dnd news / blog app. This app is pretty good; it keeps us updated with news and articles written by WOC. There are some good reads and a few articles featuring maps which look amazing.
For any Role Playing Fanatics out there, i could not recommend this app any more, its amazing and it has the best usage of the android system for reading articles that i've seen so far, definitely amazing!
I love the content on Dragon+, the articles are excellent for expanding your enjoyment of DnD. The problem is app is so slow and clunky, it you switch to a different app to multitask the app closes and you have to go through the slow opening process again. There is so much promise in Dragon+ but it is a shame the app is terrible.
I enjoy the issues but it is annoying to have to reopen the same issue each time the screen goes black. Not very good for a pick up and put down read. Content is great!
Could use more information. Mag downloads seemed slow getting them to view on my phone using WiFi. Had to stop cuz took too long.
Opened properly once, that's it. Now complains about internet connection being 'unstable' and refuses to go further
My only real complaint about this app is that the downloads are done in the foreground. It would be nice if one could read the article about this month's adventure while downloading the pdf for example.
If you eat, sleep, and breath D&D, chance are you are already ahead of this app in terms of fresh content. However, for most passionate fans this is the perfect way to get all the news and ideas you want. Form and function without being too self serving.
This app takes forever to load, and when it finally does, it's mostly ads for other D&D products. Terrible as it is, I'll stick to the website.
As someone who had a subscription to Dungeon magazine many years ago I can appreciate what this is. It's a high quality supplement to a D&D player that can spark the imagination, improve your gameplay, and inform you of what's going on in D&D. The stories and artwork are top notch.
I wonder if the downloads can be permanent to peruse later or do we keep re-download ingredients everytime I want to read up on a specific month issue.
Content is fine, if a bit sparse. Please make the downloading of issues with every update or new issue stop, though.
That this shares the name Dragon with its fine precursors is a shame.
I think a DND app is a great idea to link all things DND on social media together. Although, the integration of the magazine is an utter fail! UI for mag is irritating, lacks quality, stiffens readers desire to really get into the magazine which is in no way a magazine. The app should just be informative of all things DND and the magazine should be downloadable as a free or paid PDF Magazine. Wizards - you got 5e right but mucked up your so called "magazine!" Its weak, lacking a pleasing reading experience. You can't go wrong with a PDF mag to download & take on the road. I feel like the magazine is held hostage inside a dungeon called Dragon+. Extensive forum searches revealed the majority of core base dnd fans have no love for this new format. Its a bad business plan to over look this poor app with such a great 5e product. Your current market relies on both your hard copy guides and web presence. One weak web presence (app) can turn off the younger future fans/consumers that will be entering your market in the next few years. Don't turn them away, their first experience will be by the web, not a hard back book as I did.

Great app for staying up to date on D&D. I really like the bits of fiction that they sprinkle in with some of the stories to add to the lore of the D&D realms. However, the performance issues prevent this from getting 5 stars. Often the downloads take too long and there is often lag between page switching.
