News Alarm podcast alarm clock for Android
Good app, but if the orientation changes then it restarts the podcast. Very annoying.
Doesn't always download the podcast. In fact some don't work at all. But it is still nice to wake up to the news and get a handle on the state of affairs before getting out of bed. Although a bad news day does precipitate a hunker down under the covers until it passes.
Can't add my favourite podcast I have to choose one of your favourite podcasts misleading description
This app *could* be just what I'm looking (and willing to pay) for. But I wish that when you snooze, it keeps your place in the podcast and the next alarm after the snooze resumes where you left off. As it is, I end up waking up to the podcast's intro 5 times. Eh..
As others have said, it's a great idea and it works well, but the particular choices of podcasts available are not interesting to me. If the app were to offer the option to add your own podcasts, this would become a star app.
Good concept but effectively useless since you can't choose your own podcasts.
Would like to see darker colors for UI and more choices for podcasts
Simple and useful
Seems like a good idea, I can't add podcasts that I want. I can't add streams either.
I need to 2 alarms to wake up so this is great and helps me
Downloaded it for the npr podcast but getting protocol not found errors
I love the idea of this app but for 5 stars, let me load an OPML file so I can customize the podcast list myself. To use podcasts as alarms on Android. 1. Download Beyondpod 2. Select a few podcasts 3. Once episodes are downloaded, create and save a new playlist 4. Save playlist to homescreen 5. Download Appalarm Pro 6. Create new alarm, and select home screen shortcut 7. Choose your playlist and you're done. 8. Get creative with Beyondpod smart playlist function.
Got this app so I could wake up to NPRs 5 minute news. It doesn't sync with NPR so it's just a regular alarm clock.
Doesnt sound, hard interface
Two issues make this unusable for me: 1) when I have bluetooth speakers connected, it plays out of both connected speakers and phone speakers. This is too annoying to tolerate. 2) Raises the volume automatically and this is not configurable. Why would the app designers assume they can better judge an appropriate volume than the user?
Is there any reason you can't let the user customize ANY RSS feed, rather than having to choose from your list? If customizable to any RSS feed, this app would be great. Otherwise its limits make it unusable to most.
It works well. Won't load the freakonomics. I just really really wish it had NPR Planet Money. :)
Great app if like British News, Public News, or Joe Rogan. Desperately needs a way to add custom feeds. DESPERATELY.
These are someone elses favorite podasts, not mine. Can't add your owm choices.
It's the first alarm clock that wakes me up within a minute (I get up and sit in front of my tablet listening to the news). It's perfect for me. Thank you very much for the app! PS. Would be nice if there also would be a possibility to add your own source for pod casts, but it's working super as it is now as well.
I know it's probably easier said than done, but this app would be great if it allowed the user to select any RSS feed. Aside from that, I have no complaints. It's a great idea. I just had a specific podcast in mind, and it's not no the list... For the record, it's the Majority Report.
This alarm used to be fabulous, and now its stopped downloading the files and just plays terrible techno music instead. I've tried to Uninstall/re install. I'm very upset.
When I originally downloaded this app it was just crashing but the developer quickly resolved the issue. Overall the app is nice to have and the only one I know of with this feature to download podcasts to play. it is definitively worth getting if you want this sort of feature. Few features I would like to see improved is snooze is able to keep your place in the podcast and not restart, a clock widget to accompany the alarm.
Wake up educated. Know the major headlines of the day before you get up.
Feel safe that your data isn't being compromised.
I love this app because it's reliable and doesn't use a computerized voice, but it really needs more content. The BBC Newshour feed is the only real news feed, and that's more Europe news than US. Why not expand the app to allow RSS feeds from my favorite podcasts? I'd much rather hear business or US news from the Wall Street Journal or something. Great idea, needs to expand.
Been looking for app that could do exactly what this one does and wake to a podcast. Thanks for that. While I had news in mind, I would like other genre options such as a daily devotional. Are there any enhancement possibilities to allow the user to enter their own RSS URL or are pre-installed choices the only possibility for this to work due to some code limitations? If so, would you consider a duplicate app that has prebuilt religious devotionals choose from? I think the market would support that effort.
This app allows you wake up to a concise up to date news summary. Set the alarm and set the podcast to the NPR Hourly News summary and you will be woken up to a 5 minute summary of important world news that updates hourly. There are a lot of other podcasts to choose from as well, including a two minute BBC news summary. This allows you to be more informed at the beginning of each day and is not as annoying and repetitive as being woken by the same song or tone each morning. It is one of the best apps I use
Love the idea but it won't load the content for NPR or BBC news. I am connected to WiFi.
This app is so cool! I just wish I could choose any podcast rather than being limited to this fairly short list.
Perfect for waking me up with a short news podcast. But the app doesn't seem to have a backup plan for situations where data isn't available. It'll just crash, and the alarm won't be set. A big problem for an alarm clock app. There should be at least a ring tone back up in this situation.
Why on earth is this app limited to to a tiny corner of the podcast universe? It's like selling a TV that can only tune two channels. Waste of time.
It's very annoying to have to calculate and select a day of the week every time you set an alarm. You should provide an option to set alarms that are day of the week independent. It would be really useful for people with irregular schedules.
They should allow custom podcasts, but they have some good ones.
Good app, but if the orientation changes then it restarts the podcast. Very annoying.
I've been looking for a straightforward app to wake up to news and this one is just about perfect.
Thanks
Great app
