Platter's Wine Guide for Android
Doesn't seem to work, besides what everyone is saying in the reviews. It sent me to a website to create an account with password. After doing so and clicking the appropriate link in the email received, it immediately says "your subscription has ended". Most useless app
It does not look as if the developers mind a score of 1.9. Looking at the other reviews, I have to ask the question why must I spend my money here. I had a beta version of this app (free) and I though the interface was frustratingly clumsy.
I would've loved it if this app was good but it is not. It is crap. I don't mind to pay for quality, but this is hard to navigate, to search and the scanner doesn't ever work. R150 in the water.
App is only a rental and having paid the full price, you only get to use it for a year. Buy the paper copy ... get a much more user friendly version and you still get to use it more than 12 months after having invested your money in the information.
Misleading. Not free. Subscription service. Rather charge for the app as a once off fee like the Sasol birds app.
Not free - as is claimed on the Play Store.
Site said the new update for 2017 is availible but there is no place to download or do the update. Please help!!
Title says it all
Paid for app, but ratings have not been updated for the last couple of years
Absolutely no updates, no current info, a waste of R175 for the very old app
Says free to download but you can't use it until you subscribe (R175). Then you're forced to pay and subscribe and the "label scan" function does not work! If I'd known that I would not have subscribed in the first place!
Vivino absolutely free and world wide collection
Crashes, scanning never works. Lots of searches turn up nothing.
Not sure about iPhone, but the Wineries near me feature crashes the app on Android.
Downloaded, couldn't subscribe via the app and try it, uninstalled.
WAY better than the web interface. Well done! Two points: 1. Proper error messages. "Something went wrong" tells me what I already know and nothing more. 2. IP was designed for flaky connectivity and so should software. The basic functionality should be available off-line after initial user verification. It's easy to limit access (and encrypt the DB) using the device ID and also place a limit on the number of active devices. Just think about how to deal with upgrades & exceptions without getting swamped.
1st attempt to find a wine failed. Please do not include the app as free. Be honest upfront and indicate it costs 175. What is the position on previous vintages? Is the app only able to show current versions?
If you want an example of how not to do signup this is it. Sure it is fine if you're already subscribed but for new users this is atrocious. You'll only see what you are subscribing to and what it costs by the third step.
The worst registration I have ever come across. It says my email addresses don't match! Want to see a Screenshot? Pathetic!
Thought it was suppose to be free for android users for 1st year, but since my first time trying to login it said my subscription expired...
Free to download. Paid subscription to login...
Great app.
Easy to use

Just installed. After being a Platter's book user for years ( got books back to about 1986) it's great to have it always with me, I have often ended up shopping and would have loved to have a platters with me - now I can. Seems functional enough, no hassles with registration or use. As a prolific app user, I just find the R175 to be the most expensive app I've found, considering that to be a yearly amount, and the producers are saving hugely on print and distribution costs. If it were more affordable, the convenience of the app would make it a 4* or 5* app. IMHO if it was priced around R100 or under per year, there would be a lot more buyers. Will be using it for the year, and see if it's worth it.
