BooksApp for Android
To lend a book to someone, scan it (or open it from the list), press "Lend book" and select your friend. When a month has passed, you will get a notification to remind you where the book is. If you have a book you want to recommend to a friend, you can do that over SMS, e-mail or Facebook etc.
You can organize your books into collections, e.g. "Favorites", "Reading now" or whatever tickles your fancy.
Finding more books is trivial. You can search for books by the same author or publisher, or books dealing with the same subject, all without typing a single character. Saving any of the matches to your phone is just one tap away.
You can export books in two ways, either as a spreadsheet—which you can send to anyone—or to Google Docs². The spreadsheet is a CSV (Comma-separated values) file that you can open in any spreadsheet program. You can also send the file to other BooksApp users, both Android and iPhone users.
Importing books is done by opening a CSV file from an e-mail or from the file manager.
BooksApp exists for iPhone as well, see www.books-app.com for more information.
Happy book organization! :-)
BooksApp is open source and released under the Apache 2.0 License

¹) Should the book not exist amongst Google Books vast amounts of books, you can always enter it manually.
²) Google Docs export requires Android 2.1 or later.
The barcode stops working after each book. It doesn't give my books thumbnails unless I add them through the search options. It could also do with a way to access the same account on other devices. A way to link to Facebook or goodreads could be interesting.
First of all, I can't get the scanner to work. It never finds a book, and I always have to search by title. Plus, there were 2 books so far, that I had to use a different publisher and publication date, because the one I wanted wasn't available. That was disappointing. Everything else seems to work fine.
Its the best app I could find. Tried others & didn't like them. I changed my rating because I found out you could search foe the book if scanning didn't work. All around really is best app.
I was very excited to get this app. It stopped working on my first scan. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and it did the same thing. I'm using it on a Motorola RAZR M or rather trying to use it. I'm very disappointed with this app I was really looking forward to using it as I have 100's of books.
The app is good for its purpose but I have yet to figure out how to add a second copy with the same ISPN/title. I had one student check out a book and another brought the same book but a different copy and wouldn't let me check it out to her as it said copy was already lent out. How do I had a second copy?
Every time I scan a book the app closes down. I'm so disappointed because it would be so useful for my classroom.
thank you wigwam labs. i can keep track of books i've read, or want to read. comes with a scanner as well as ability to organize. if you made a pc version so i can keep in case lost phone would be the cherry on top!
I was super excited to find this app, except it never works!
Is there any way to add the ISBN number search. As a teacher using scholastic books the majority have the ISBN number written but not as the barcode. Would be amazing to be able to search the same database already used by inputting the ISBN. Thanks thanks thanks!
I cant find the import/export feauture... with that it would be a 5 star app
It keeps "unfortunately bookable has stopped" everytime I scan and it only uploads the scans half of the time! I would love this app otherwise
I seriously love this app. I work in a used book store so I'm always checking my stock to see if I need a certain book for my home library. I only really wish I could use this on on laptop. I need something comparable to booksapp for my pc.
Made my job much easier. ..now if only I could figure out how to import and export....
It's easy yo scan but some features (like manual ISBN additions) would be great. Also, taking a picture from within the app instead of only selecting pics from the gallery would be faster.
Out of around 140 books new and old it scanned 70. I could understand it being unable to scan old books and just new but this isn't the case. It is super inconsistent. It scanned 4/5 old Aliens books, but only 1 out of the Percy Jackson series all part of the same set. It scanned 3/4 maze runner books even though they bundled in the same set. One thing that would make this infinitely better for me is the option for it to go straight to camera when manually giving a book a picture.
At first I was upset because I put all my books into this app (over 250) and then couldn't find the way to export to a spreadsheet which is the whole reason I wanted it. But I found it! If you have a Samsung phone (I have galaxy note 4) hold down the button you usually use to close open apps (the button to the left of the home button). A menu will come up with the export feature. I love everything about this app now!
Love how simple the app is to use. I would like to ask for a cloud option or an email link, for when you change phones or need to backup your collections. But making a collection is easy, and lending is as easy as find a contact. Very well done app.
Will make the job of listing down all my classroom books easier!
Would be great if we can checkout the book to our students using this app. Maybe adding a feature of typing in the name would be beneficial for a lot of us instead of it reading my phone contacts.
Would give it 5 stars if you can import lists of books already and if it can also search Amazon and eBay half for more books
This generous response now makes this fine app almost perfect.
I have been able to keep track of all of my books with this app BUT I agree with the other woman who said that the app needs a way to keep track of multiple copies of books. My only issues are that you can't make changes to the order of the "Collections", you can't search for an ISBN number (if the book doesn't have a barcode or it has been covered, you have to enter EVERYTHING by hand), and that when I finally switch phones, there isn't a way to save all of the books to another phone or tablet.
Great app, perfect for book lovers and lenders! Now free of ads and pro limitations (thanks wigwam!) Only glitch is inability to remove old lending records.
I has holding the phone to scan for 2 minutes and it can't read the barcode for Harry Potter. Darn.
Excellent app. Makes documenting books so much easier. Easy to use and scanner works well. Ability to categorise books into read and to read and can even add your own categories so i was able to mark books as sold :)
Cannot backup books if changing phones. Very poor. seems all development is now for Iphones only..

One of the better book catalog apps on the market, but exporting a file is not enough because you can't capture book covers in a CSV file. You must have a way to back up your data including the pictures and this is instantly a 5 star app.
I love this app. I appreciate that the app has its own scanner so I don't need to download a separate scanner app just to scan my books' barcodes. For books that have to be manually inputted, I wish there was an option to find/import the book's information & cover from the internet. Also, I haven't tried the lending feature yet but it looks like you can only lend to your phone's contacts? How about a manual name input option there? A version for the iPad to use in the classroom would be greatly appreciated!
i wanted an app just like this it has all my books saved and even lets make note of who i lend them to
It doesn't scan books properly and you can't work it right it sucks
It made easy work of cataloging and tagging all of my books! Wish list: It would be even better to have the same AP for PC, easy print and share an interactive catalog with friends.
I was looking exactly for what this app promises but was unable to find how to export to Google Docs. My phone is Android 2.1 or later and there just isn't any way to do it. I've googled for help but there is nothing for this android app that shows what I have when I downloaded or instructions to get this to work. Very disappointed.
I really like this app, is easy and quick however, I cannot make a "series". there is no logical way to create a series even though it is a feature!. There really isn't a help feature that has helpful information. I think it is in the right track and would love to see it becoming much better.
Love this app. Does what is says and I love the way it is set up. However it needs copy button instead of sending as a spread sheet. Would also love to have this on my laptop computer. But over all a brilliant app
Exactly what I was looking for. Thought I had to scan all books, but search function is easier to find and save books with pics! Love it! Thanks!
It's a cool app for cataloging my books. Especially my daughter's books, which I can never remember. The scan doesn't work, however, and manually entering all of them is a pain!
Scanner works really well! Huge database of books available! Very user friendly interface! Wish it worked with Goodreads.

I have been using this app for several years and I have thousands of books organized through this free service. I couldn't be more grateful! I am a teacher, so whenever I am lesson planning, I refer to my books app to know what books I have available for the topic that I am teaching. Also, when I am book shopping, it is so easy to pull out my phone when I can't remember what books I have and don't have. Thank you!
