iBird Yard Plus Guide to Birds for Android
I love this app and use it everyday. But the problem I have is it is real laggy on my btw LG G6 phone. It takes 1-2 seconds to go to different windows or screens and to play the sounds. Please optimize this app to work faster. The Audubon app doesn't have this problem.
Wish I could store the database on my SD card, like so other apps I have installed. But other than that it is great!
I love that it lets me look up the different types of birds that visit my feeders. I also love to call them.
Great resource
My first bird app. It helps me identify birds at our feeder, but then, I find a wealth of information organized in the different categories, like range, sounds, habitat and behavior, etc. The photos really back up identification using the art work. The only problem - I find myself spending more time on the app than I planned!
iBird's Cloud Sync solution has issues - good luck downloading the database; I have given up. Unless you do your birdwatching from the kitchen window, you are going to want the database on your device. That should be the default. Moving on to Sibley ...
Excellent app for novice birdwatchers. I love how by just closing a few characteristics it helps you pinpoint the exact bird.
After using the Audubon app I realized how many of our local birds are missing from this app.
My favorite bird app for identifying common backyard birds.
Very good for casual bird watcher. Provides lots of information on common birds.
Great for Central Florida winters when the birds come South and even better for the rest of the year.
Many calls for each species. Good descriptions of calls and pictures for identification
Being handicapped, I get great enjoyment by being able to sit back in my recliner and watch the birds feeding at 2 feeders strategically located outside my windows. This application along with iBird Pro are excellent tools for identifying and documenting bird sightings.
If you live in North America, this app easily replaces the pro version at an excellent price. Rare birds are included, too. The song/call recordings are mostly perfect, and all real. Just don't expect easy ringtones here.
Finding the right bird is so easy with this app. The search filter allows you to narrow down the bird you're looking for super easily. I tried the free lite version for only about 3 minutes before I realized this was exactly what I was looking for. First app I've ever paid for, and worth every penny.
New to birding, seems like a good tool to identify with. Biggest problem is my inputting bad info due to lack of birding technicalities.
This app is perfect. It's so much more informative and easier to use than a paper field guide. There are so many features, including a "similar birds" feature that helps ensure a correct identification. I LOVE this app!
Love it! Jam packed with info. Great photos and drawings etc. Bird calls excellent!
Works great on HTC tbolt. Maybe some day could have a search by region feature?
Very informative in its small capacity. Most common birds are present. Would like to see an expanded library in the future. Thank you.
Love it!! Itd be perfect if it had a Shazam-type feature where u could it have it listem to a bird call and tell u what kind of bird it is.
When playing birds sounds i get a whining noise which doesn't allow sound
I like it but the only bad thing about it. It forces to close a lot
I downloaded iBird Yard Plus several days ago, and I must say I am duly impressed! The downloading and syncing was flawless (I chose the "sync all" option) and was completed in about 5 minutes. The first thing I did was to sit on my back porch and try out the "call" feature. I chose the Carolina Wren call and I was utterly amazed that in less than 30 seconds I had two wrens on my porch within 3 feet of my chair. I have tried this several time since with complete success. Learning the "search" feature is a little tricky and I have found that the descriptions must be very accurate, particularly when it comes to size. Obviously there's a learning curve here. I am completely satisfied so far and most especially with the $.99 price. So much so that I just downloaded iBird Pro to take advantage of the $2.99 anniversary price! Will review it in another post after I have had time to check it out.
Fun, easy to use, and good imformation.Delightful way to get to know more birds.
I had a very high hopes for this app and was excited to snag it for. 99 instead of 9.99. I feel like I wasted my money. There are very few birds in the list and they are not separated by region or species. It's just an alphabetical list. The only reason it got 2 stars from me is because the bird calls it does have are excellent. It didn't have what I was looking for, I would be really angry if I had wasted 10 dollars on this. As it is I wish I could have my 99 cents back...
Good photos and descriptions. Very clear sounds. This is a good learning tool for anyone interested in getting to know birds.
So great to have this app handy...on my phone...I just grab it anytime I see a new bird or want to refresh my memory about an old friend. Was able to share all about crows, complete with audio, for my 2 & 6 year old nieces!
I love everything about it except that the bird calls randomly stop working and I have reboot my phone to get it to work again. Would pay anything to have this work properly! Droid X2.
Sound won't work after 4 or 5 bird calls. They say its because they haven't updated it yet. Its been weeks.....still waiting! .
I love it! Very useful and accurate
Great, easy to use app. I use of daily. I live in a wooded area so is great to be able to quickly I'd all the different bird calls I hear.
Outstanding. Haven't seen anything I didn't like. Exceeded my expectations.
Best I have ever seen, so much information.
Phenomonal app. Should add a search that determines what birds range is in the location your standing to narrow down the possibilities.
I love it. Pics are beautiful. Eazy to use. Sounds are clear. Great buy at $.99
Fun, useful, and functional app. Not as comprehensive as a birding guide, but not as expensive either and vastly more portable.
Even a tufted titmouse came down to check out the sound coming from my phone (a tufted titmouse). Only negative I have found is that the hooded warbler is not in the data base, and yes it is in the Audubon bird field guide. Over all am well pleased with it.
I am not a bird watcher, But love the app to figure out which birds I hear to remind me of God's blessing. It has a favorites group, so i went into range for the first bird and put it into my favorites if in my region. Thus, created a smaller region list quickly by going to each bird. Highly recommended. Sounds are awesome and matches my local birds.
