About Wilderness First Aid

The Wilderness First Aid App is a handy, quick-reference guide with easily accessible wilderness first aid step-by-step guidance. The use of technical terms is limited, providing practical approaches and comprehensive explanations. This system-based, easy-to-follow guide assists the first aid provider to care for most minor and major wilderness emergencies, from cold and heat concerns and blister treatments to high altitude illness and lightning injury prevention—and much more.

Typically the most challenging decision in the wilderness is when to evacuate a person, and each section has detailed decision-making steps to inform you of when to be concerned, and when to get out. Filled with full-color artwork illustrating techniques and procedures and downloadable for access off-line, it is handy for travel into extreme environments. The Wilderness First Aid App is a must-have for every back pocket or backpack.

Font size is a big problem and one should not have to get a magnifying glass to adjust the font and follow and non-intuitive instructions to adjust. Otherwise this is an excellent app with good information that could save a life. I reported the font problem a long time ago and just reinstalled on a new phone. Ridiculous that it hasn't been fixed.

This app on the Nexus 7 is very difficult to read. The font is extremely small. You can however enlarge the font but you need to go through the process each and every time you launch this app. If you were using in an emergency, this could be a major problem. Wildside needs to address this issue. Otherwise it's a good informative app.

Would love to have the content but can't be screwing with a tiny magnifier button in an emergency

The font size CAN be changed. Open the app. At the bottom center push the protocols button. Then at the top you will see wilderness first aid....and to the left a tiny button thats a cog. Push that. Then you will see Wilderness First Aid Introduction. To the right very tiny there are a plus and minus magnify glass button. Press the plus button to get the font to the size you want. Hope this helps. It works. This is an awesome app once you can read it.

The font is too small to read. My estimate of the font size on my device is 2 point. It is possible to change the font for some but not all text, and it is not possible to change the size of bitmaps and icons. Kit does not magnify. Please stretch but maps on expand. Please make font setting sticky. Please use screen resolution in determining initial font size. Please make titles magnify the same as normal text.

App seems great but it WILL NOT let me zoom in on the screen using my Samsung Galaxy S6 soI CANNOT read ANY of it. That MUST BE fixed in order for this app to be useful at all in any kind of emergency.

Looked like it could be good, but completely unusable on Nexus 6. Settings button not responsive. Text way too tiny to read.

I tried this app after reading that the font settings can be changed, but I was unable to open any settings. I'm using the Nexus 6 with Marshmallow preview version 3.

Get a magnifying glass. Click on protocol tab on bottom. Click on the settings cog upper left hand of the page. It may take you a few tries. On the upper right side of the next page ate the zoom buttons. Zooming out seems to saves the changes in the protocol section. The "kit" section won't magnify. 4 stars for making this so hard to figure out.

Like others i'm having trouble making the font size larger. Others have said you can adjust using "settings", but the settings button (three dots vertically aligned) is unresponsive on my phone - can't access anything. I have a Nexus 4, but clearly this is an issue on lots of Android models. It could be readable in good conditions for someone with youngish eyes, but outdoors the glare would make this really un-useable. THESE FOLKS DON'T DESERVE YOUR MONEY until they fix this problem and a few folks confirm it's working. Download the American Red Cross free app in the mean time.

Text is so small I can't read it. I've seen the reviews that day one can adjust text size in settings, but I can neither see the settings icon, nor read anything if I could. I'll continue to rely on my NOLS Wilderness Medicine book in Kindle format.

Great idea, developer FIX THE FONT ISSUE!! Someone typed about a settings menu, none on the version I can find. Tough to read on the sgs5

I have been using this app as a replacement for my WFR handbook, in my pack. I was really happy with this app on my iPhone so when I got the s5 active I new it was a must to purchase. I was so disappointed when I couldn't read any of the text. I really hope that there is a fix for this soon. It is pretty useless to me now. What happened? Please fix this and make it work like the iPhone version. I will gladly change my review to a 5 star.

From the person who rated that the text is to small. You can adjust the text size in the settings menu. Which is the little cog button in the top left hand corner on the protocol tab. Once I adjusted the text size this app has all of the info I would need.
