About Wildfire-Alerts
Every year millions of American are affected by wildfires.
Drought, likely influenced by climate change, is one of the largest factors affecting the spread of wildfires in the United States, especially in the Western States. Climate change has helped spike the size and number of wildfires, as fire seasons have grown longer.
On average wildfire burn six times the acreage they did 40 years ago, while the annual number of wildfires over 1,000 acres was 50 during an average year in the 1970’s, today there are over 250 wildfires per year, that burn in excess of 1,000 acres.
The average length of a Wildfire Season has expanded from 5 months in the 1970’s to its present length of 7 months. Additionally, the winter snow pack now melts on average 4 weed earlier than it did in previous decades. As the average temperature rises more and more land is expected to burn each year, while wildfires are expected to increase in numbers and in size.
Wildfire Alert LLC, attempts to provide its members with access to educational information to assess the risk of wildfires to their property as well as information on how to reduce that risk. However, the most important function of the Wildfire Alert Service is to keep its members notified of active wildfires in the area around their property, as provided by United States Geological Survey (USGS) data bases. Additionally, the Wildfire Alert System will keep them up to date on the “Wildfire Danger Classification” for the lands around their property, as provided by U.S. Forest Service’s Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS} data bases.
Included with a basic membership; the ability to enter one permanent property location. The website will query the USGS data bases for active wildfires within a 100 mile radius of the member’s property location. The member can visit the site and see information on these wildfires along with maps showing the wildfires location relative to the members identified property location.
Also with the basic membership the member can put in two set of email addresses and smart phone numbers.
These will be used by the site to notify the member of any new wildfires detected in the USGS data bases. This notification will be by way of text message to the identified smart phone and email address. The site will continue to send message updates on the progress of these wildfires when new information is available and as long as the wildfires are identified as active by the USGS. The site will also update the members on any changes in the Wildfire Danger Classifications in the area around their identified property as indicated by the WFAS.
Additional addresses can be added by members. All of the features provided for the original identified property location will be provided for each added property location.
Additional sets of email addresses and smart phone numbers for notifications can be purchased.
Historic Reports on Wildfires and Wildfire Danger Classifications can also be purchased..
