WeSwap - Travel Money for Android
WeSwap has been extremely useful on two family holidays. Loading the card and swapping between Eur and Swiss francs saved us money and hassle and meant we had exactly the money we needed. Will def use for our next trip.
I like this prepaid MasterCard because it's free and no monthly or yearly charges and it's very easy to use in Europe. But i don't like this apps because it's very slow when you load and swap your balance. I use weswap website to load and swap my credit.
Well done We swap. Now you have updated the app. Can't see euro's. Totally gone from the screen. App keeps crashing now... must be proud of this one.
You have some major UX failures on this app. To load money with a debit card like Natwest you need to get a code sent to your phone, however, if you navigate away from this app to collect the code you have to re-enter the pin on the app and when you have done this it cancels your load and returns you to the start. This puts you an in endless cycle of not being able to load. You need to get your UX/CX team to test user journeys end to end for all major payment mechanisms
App sends notifications that cannot be disabled.
Preferred the home screen/wallets before the update.
Was a godsend going through europe
Does what it needs to do!
Very good for being in control with foreign currency while on holiday.
Love this easy to use secure way of carrying cash
Brilliant for using world wide
Old version is way better
Bollocks - DO NOT UPDATE . Before updating on 08 Sep 2017 this app worked great. Worth the 5 stars. Now I am 1200 miles from home with a spinning circle that continues to say 'Loading', and a card that I can no longer top up. Fix it or give us back the old version. UPDATE - Now it says that it cannot connect and I need to check my signal. Guess what? I wrote this post whilst having 'no signal'
I'd have rated this 5 stars if it wasn't for the app continuously begging me for a review every 5 seconds. No issues with the card or the app, it works perfectly, but if you want someone to review your product as 5 stars, asking them every time they visit your app and try and do something probably isn't going to help
This app and MasterCard that comes with it is useful, but the exchange rates aren't good at all, even if you're forced to wait seven days before a swap. Exchanging on the street is better in terms of price. The only use I see with this is its access to your bank account giving you access to your own bank money if you're short while on holiday. So it is useful, but not great exchange prices and it takes far too long to change money if anywhere near the prices you get from regular exchange shops.
App is great for giving my son money when he's abroad. I top up the card using the App, he uses the card at the other end. That way I drip feed him cash instead of him blowing any lump sum he would be given on departure.
It is okay. I have had troubles using it to buy tickets online. Two times I was rejected and I had to use my bank account anyway. So probably this should be fixed. Other than that so far so good. I've been using it in Germany and France only.
I had a lot of trouble with the card being rejected for unclear reasons in the USA and so don't recommend it. Also, the interface isn't very user-friendly, it sometimes takes days for a transaction to show up properly and you get charged for every swap. There are better options out there (e.g. Monzo & Revolut).
Doesn't work in the US. I'm sure it's great, but halfway through sign up I got told I couldn't use it. I even read the whole description to check and see if there were conditions to the apps use. Oh well.
Quite a nice application. One thing that does annoy me though is the lack of a confirmation step between entering a cash value to load onto the card and it actually taking payment. The numerical keyboard appears and covers the proposed exchange value in the meantime, which requires you press back to see it. I've hit the tick before in error and doesn't so much as ask 'are you sure' or anything.
I used this app last year on this same phone (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) with no problem but today when I try to load the card with more money I just get a black screen with the logo and a spinner. When I contacted customer services I was told 'there is nothing wrong with your account can you load by a different means'. I had to ask for a bug report to be raised. Only differences I would guess is the android version ( now on 7.0_0005 ) and maybe the app version (4.1).
Using weswap for the last year or so. Generally really handy. Though dissapointed to see that they now charge 1% for even the 7day swap. Still a bit better than you get in most places
Superb app and card used it while travelling in the Usa and swapped when back in Europe updates balance immediately activity lets you check on your spending choice of swap up to 7 day if not in a rush great idea
Used WeSwap in Europe and Australia, worked perfectly for both cash withdrawals from ATMs and as a MasterCard for meals, drinks etc. WeSwap app is easy to use and helpful in tracking your spending in real time plus easy to load & swap currency whilst away on holiday. Good exchange rates and no hidden bank charges either so best solution I've found for spending abroad.
Updated 14th September. STILL PUSHING OUT SPAM NOTIFICATIONS. SERIOUSLY, STOP DOING THIS!!!!! I'VE SWITCHED OFF ALL THE DAMN NOTIFICATION OPTIONS!!!!!
Brilliant card, everything works as advertised. I have used it for 2 years now and I'm now finding places prefer this to cash when I'm abroad. The app gives me easy access to check all transactions. I have no intention of using anything else.
Travelling Europe and Turkey in a weeks time just compared rates to Sainsbury's, only slightly better rates on Turkish Lira but for Euro you are better off at supermarket. Makes me wonder why should I learn different ways and change habits.
The card and website work. But i cannot load money onto the card via the app. I contacted twice via twitter for support. No response and its two weeks later. Very poor service if anything goes wrong but useful when it works
Really Disappointed with the service. The WeSwap did not work in many places and could not withdraw money from most of the Euro Bank.
Cheapest travel money, convenient. The app can take days to show the transactions so it's not so useful when traveling
The only improvement i would make it to make the flag icons bigger and if you recently used one currency have it appear at the top when you go to swap. Otherwise easy to make mistakes if not careful
Very unprofessional, bad business ethics, unapologetic and careless. I receive the card just in time before my flight and decide to load money into it. Next morning, a day before my flight I realise I can't access my account, and an email saying I need to verify my account. This is something never mentioned or warned about before taking my money and blocking access to MY money. It involves sending my bank statements that shows the weswap load transaction. This takes a couple of days to show obviously, and another couple of days to receive paper statements (we're in the digital age aren't we weswap?). Many frantic and frustrated calls and emails to get back my money which take 3-5 days to clear ONCE weswap actually processes the refund. Was left without any money abroad nearly a week because of this. Call centre is LITERALLY useless as they are just middle man advisory people that can't actually do anything. You still rely on emails. Just avoid, and go for Monzo who verify beforehand and charge no fees like weswap.
Great app. Currently in Greece and the card / payments are working well. Exchange rates are mark to market with no fees (if you wait 3 days). Would be great to enable international transfers as well.
Have used this since April 2016 in Greece and South Africa. Next place will be NYC. I've never had an issue loading/swapping money with the app or carrying out transactions with the Mastercard. Really wish it could be used for online shopping or EFT payments
Love the idea as a whole and the app is a great translation of that into a useful tool that can be used to swap money with really low costs between travellers You can also monitor your foreign currency spend and totals are updated almost immediately. Keep it up.
I have used WeSwap in both France and the USA. The card comes into its own when you need a top up your overseas funds and do not want to incur any additional credit card charges.
The exchange rates don't seem that good. Can get better deals online
I would write a review of the app worked, all it says when I try to login, is you timed out, everyone, even after uninstalling the app and deleting all files.
really annoying you can't spend more than £200 or get your money back when you need it

Couple not use it to pay for a foreign holiday in their local currency over the phone. Appears to be because the cards are tagged to auto decline "offline" transactions. Absolutely no way to get anyone on the phone to discuss and FAQ was no use. Had to use another card and switch my foreign currency back to local.
