WestJet for Android
As a former Apple user and frequent flyer for Westjet, this Android version seriously lags behind. Biggest complaint is booking flights. Really link to the website?!? Why am I using an APP? Pretty lazy and if I was working for Westjet I would be firing the developer or programmer! And I am not sure I can verify this portion of the app but is there capability to get notifications of gate and flight changes from the app? How about my boarding ticket? All can be done on iOS. The only reason I still use this app is to see all my flights in one place and be able to use Westjet Connect on board to watch movies. Otherwise, might as well book through website it's much easier. Also, really ruins my first experience with Android as it's quite disappointing to see such sloppy work.
If you book through a partner airline (e.g. a Qantas overseas flight with a WestJet connection), you can't use the app with either your Qantas or WestJet confirmation code, it just throws an error. Nor can you use the WJ website to buy seats. Not a problem with American Airlines or Air Canada connections, and for frequent international travellers, that sort of hassle is a good enough reason to use those airlines.
Was working fine and today it just crashes to a black screen. Terrible.
Meh, a lot of material is just an internal redirect to West Jet web pages. Code share flight times are not kept current. Pretty weak effort for something that is a must install for in flight entertainment.
Just sends you to their web page to manage your booked flights. It's junk.
For several weeks I have been unable to add reservations to the "trips" section. The same error comes up- 'Unable to connect to the Westjet service at this time".
Been flying westjet for years but I can no longer sign in to my account through the app, loads for half a second then nothing happens, been happening for a while
Garbage, wouldn't even update in real-time.
It was fine but a bit slow
I book and use it consistently without an issue

What use is installing an app when it doesn't work? Here's an idea westjet look at options that are easier for your customers. Last few experiences with you guys are getting closer to the service provided by the other Canadian carrier and I'd rather walk to my destination then give them business. Best flight service I've had in the last 2 years in Canada was with Flair and that isn't saying very much!
We made sure to update the app on both of our products (Nexus 6 phone and Sony Tablet) but it didn't matter we weren't able to play any movies. Not the best when you have a toddler that is waiting just for that on 5hrs flight.
Months and still no fix. Media player will not launch anything on Android. It is an interface glitch. Went through it with a couple of flight attendants on a flight back in Nov, had 5 devices between us and clearly discovered it was only on Android (Apple devices played fine). Sent the issue in writing to Westjet that evening. Never received a reply. Took a flight last night (3 months later) and discovered NOTHING"S CHANGED!
Not a bad app, used it when me and my new wife went to Vegas. Wasn't able to stream movies, but worked fine streaming music. My only gripe with the app is that when booking the flight / Hotel, it would be nice being able to book everything within the app and not have the built as a hub to connect to a browser (kind of like Expedia has built their app).
Flight on July 4th with one adult and two children. All with android phones, each with the app downloaded at different times (three months prior, one week prior, and the day of the flight). We could not access any movies for some reason - every time we clicked on a movie, it would say the content could not be played. Finally got a movie working on two of them, but not the ones we wanted to see. Tried rebooting each phone multiple times, turning wi-fi on/off, etc. Nothing worked. Passengers around us were not experiencing problems, flight attendant said no other complaints, had a few suggestions that we had already tried. Needless to say it was a very long flight. We've uninstalled and reinstalled the app on each device for our flight tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a better experience, but will be packing a deck of cards for back-up entertainment. UPDATED: Uninstalled/reinstalled on each device. On return flight, app worked properly on one phone, intermittently (would play only a handful of movies) on the 2nd phone, and would play no movies on the 3rd phone. WestJet response is that it is a device issue; however, no problems with any other apps on these devices.
Latest version installed but it didnt work on my last flights, very dissapointing

This is REQUIRED for any in flight entertainment. The video player lacks pretty much any feature of a modern video playback software. Not sure if a glitch or a "feature" but while in full screen, often a single tap exits the movie and you have to fumble along trying to relocate your spot in the movie...
I was looking up flight times and cost on my phone. Battery was low so I accessed my laptop to make the reservation, the cost of the flight I wanted to book was over $100.00 less on my laptop search than my mobile search. What a rip off
The app disconnecting for me during the flight. It took 30 minutes for flight connect to appear. Things are just going by wayside on westjet. They were really good they are now okay.....i guess still better then air Canada
Ridiculous, I tried to add a bunch of flights, but it doesn't permit me to add more than one flight, after which it refuses to connect to WestJet commodore 64 based booking system. Uninstalled, reinstalled, same problem. Bit of a joke.
Worked for viewing in flight movies. Wish I knew to update it while still in the airport. Didnt have much data left to download things.
Constantly won't update and search flights. Has error of unable to connect to westjet server so I have to go online every time. Waste of time.
I downloaded this app for an incoming trip. It worked fine up until a couple hours before my flight, at which point it would no longer display my boarding pass...literally the only reason I downloaded it.
Update June 22, 2017 - the app still sucks. Still can't use it with my phone. Westjet - you and I both know you are better than this! What a disappointment. In July 2016 I went on a very long flight out to Newfoundland. Our flight had Westjet Connect - problem was that it just wouldn't work! The TV screen on my phone would go blank and nothing would appear. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was new technology and they were probably working the bugs out. NOW, we're at the end of March 2017. Another long flight. I download the newest version of the app, fire it up, connect to wifi, etc, and same problem. None of the movies and none of the TV shows worked. I tried several. The note on the screen was 'unavailable, try again later' or something similar. 8 or 9 months later and the issue STILL hasn't been fixed. On top of that, I browsed the content that was theoretically available. Though the movies and TV shows looked good, the live TV options were awful. I had the in-seat TVs on one of my two flights and it worked perfectly. I guess we'll see if things get fixed before my next westjet flight in June.... but I'm not going to hold my breath!
I see other users have similar issues with Samsung/Android, can't pause without having to restart the app
Terrible. Was flying from Vancouver to Calgary and app said we were over Lagos. No entertainment and the news was a week old.
12th July 2017. Well, read plenty of negative reviews and thought it was just technophobes whining. Nope, this app is absolute pants. Tried it on 4 devices, nothing. Rubbish, pantaloons. However, it did keep me entertained during the first hour of the Calgary to JFK flight as I tried, in vain, to make it work. Why don't they tell you before you board that you need the app on your device in order to access the entertainment? Because you can buy internet time on board to downlaod it! Why doesn't itnwork once downloaded? Because you can rent their device to view it! What a bunch of shamelesss gougers! On the bright side, they've turned the experience of flying into a sunshine bus tour. Instead of getting on with the business of giving flight safety info, theybstart encouraging everyone to cheer if theybare looking forwards to going to New York. Then they give out the safety info in some jaunty little rhyme. Oh Lord, take me now. The dumming down of society is almost complete. Tacky.
In-flight entertainment simply does not work. Garbage app. Has the look and feel of a high school coding project.
App unable to view any movies or shows. None of the videos loaded except for live TV. Horrible experience.
The last two revisions were a step backwards. In previous versions all of my flights booked online at your website showed up in my future flights list. Recently, I booked 10 flights online and not a one has made its way into this app. I shouldn't have to use the + sign to enter each leg manually. The strange part is that all of these flights show up in my tripcase calendar. Maybe you should download the flights from their database.

Well known for its incessant clickbaiting, this airline will DOUBLE its prices from the ones it quotes online once you click to finalize your booking. If you complain about it, they'll mark you "4S" on your next WestJet flight and you'll be subject to "secondary screening". They claim it's random. I've been "randomly selected" six times, and only by WorstJet. Then they'll stuff you on a 737-600 which is basically a flying school bus. And no, I won't "call you" or "email you" to discuss it. You just need to smarten up. Don't fly WestJet. Just don't.
