WeSpeke Chat (free)

How can I use the app if I do not have a Facebook account and cannot get one? This seems to be a huge flaw in the apps software which should be fixed. It is a mistake to think that the whole world has access to Facebook. Waiting weeks for a reply via email for a manual add in also is flawed.

I have been using WeSpeke for a few weeks now. Here is my conclusion: Good concept, but it could use a bit more work. It gives you an opportunity to connect with people if you're wanting to learn their home language. You CAN connect with people who GENUINELY want to help you. I have one pen-pal because of it. However, I was recently contacted by another chat user who left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I am attempting to learn German and an American overseas contacted me to befriend me based on my personal photo. After some time, he mentioned he only contacted me because of my photo, but he wanted to get to know me better. After a few days of polite chat, his conversations became sarcastic and insulting. I'm married, and this came up in conversation because he didn't bother to read my bio. He insulted my husband and mocked my marriage. I abruptly ended the conversation and had him blocked. I've spent more time these last few weeks warding off men who are only interested in flirting online and calling me various unwanted pet names than I have talking to people genuinely interested in learning a new language. I will no longer use this service, and am moving on.

Have to have a social media account. Good idea but no way to get in. Slow!

It's very slowly

The app is too slow. Every switch to a new conversation loads for far too long

The app is soooo slow that it wastes my time.

This app was a great help few years back. Now its completely inactive.

This was my best app for languange exchange before your last update , just all profiles when i view them , the page is blank !!!! I am so frustrated

This is a f**k app.. Waste my data to download and never open. Stupid spam and crab.. Dumb head developer

It's just a chat room, with students of various languages. Some of them will chat with you, and some of them won't message you at all . it's not a video chat or audio service, just typing. I was looking for video chat or audio to converse with the other people and they didn't have it.

Download it and get harassed by endless gross men.

this app is a hoax, if not by the administrators then by the members. I joined this app looking to maintain my abilities in foreign language and not ONE person responded nor was the app helpful in any way to finding suitable matches. it was a waste of time, space and money.

I love the concept, but I've experienced many problems with the app itself. For example, any time I switch back to the app (like when I have to look up a translation), the conversation page reloads. Not that big of a deal, but it's slightly annoying. Also, if I am trying to edit a message before I send it (choosing a different word, etc.), the message gets completely messed up. Not sure how to describe that, but it's a major inconvenience​. Lastly, it would be nice if pressing enter didn't send the message, but it's not that big of a deal. Otherwise, I really like the ability to speak with native speakers and help each other learn, and I look forward to the addition of audio and video functionality in the future.

Please fix buffering problem and if you could add audio and video call facility

Yet again another language app where I'm constantly contacted by people who do not speak my target language. Please make an option where it blocks messages from those people. My inbox is crazy and I've only just made my account 15 minutes ago. I want to learn DUTCH and help them with English in exchange... Not help everyone in the world with English! I don't have time for that as I already teach English at a primary school. These people are wasting my time. Furthermore, I see potential.

*takes a deep breath* the voice recorder sucks, only works a fourth of the time, the pictures never send, the chat constantly skips up through the chat, can't send files, the pictures you ARE able to send get opened in crappy quality, the audio messages you actually receive lack the ability to rewind fast forward (so if you get a 4 min audio and you really want to hear that word the person said at 3:35, buckle up because you have to hear the whole thing again) also fuzzy audio.

I was hoping to practice a few different languages but it seems that you're only allowed to be fluent in one language and can only practice one other one at a time. Seems like it would be a very simple fix, as it is I'm not sure it's right for my purposes.
