Seven Heroes 1971-৭ বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ

The Bir Sreshtho (The Most Valiant Hero), is the highest military award of Bangladesh. It was awarded to seven freedom fighters who showed utmost bravery and died in action for their nation. They are considered martyrs.


As a Bangladeshi we all should know the true history of our liberation war of 1971. Anything about liberation war 1971 is incomplete without these seven names. They are the greatest hero of our nation. Most of the people of Bangladesh don’t even know their names. We try to accumulate their life history and snick pick of their bravery in 1971.
The “Bir Sreshtho medal” awared is the highest Awared in Bangladesh. The “Bir Sreshtho” is a military award of Bangladesh and it is the highest military award of Bangladesh. In 1973 Bangladesh announced 7 freedom fighter as "Bir Sreshtho" for their suprime secrifice in the liberation war. The “Bir Sreshtho” is similar to “The American Medal of Honor” or “The British Victoria Cross” award. “Bir Uttom”, “Bir Bikrom” and “Bir Protik” are the other three bravery awards.

The Bangladesh Gazette on 15th December 1973 was declared "Bir Sreshtho" award. In the liberation war 1971, millions of people lost their lives, millions of people injured, millions of people lost their property, millions of people lost their home and millions of people were subjected to untold miseries. The seven "Bir Sreshtho" are Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Mohiuddin Jahangir, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Hamidur Rahman, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Mostofa Kamal, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Matiur Rahman, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Munshi Abdur Rouf, Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Nur Mohammad Sheikh.
