Anchor watch is a position logger, SMS alarm and sound alarm and it monitors the device's current location and informs you if the location of the device changes too far away from the set anchor. In that case, it will sound an alarm and optionally send an SMS.
Please know that the performance and accuracy of the Anchor watch application depends on the hardware and software of the used device. If you have bad reception, please move the device to a location that has better satellite reception!
Because this application uses GPS to monitor movement, it will consume battery a bit faster than normally. We suggest you charge your device while using the app, although it's not necessary and the impact on battery life strongly depends on the device used! There is also an advanced option to set GPS update intervals which might greatly improve battery life.

If GPS doesn't work, please bear in mind that it might be a hardware issue, as some devices have trouble getting a good GPS fix! We cannot do anything about that, nor can any other app.

Some device types have problems with some parts of the application, such as not providing proper GPS provider or not allowing the app to send SMS. Since those are per-device issues, we cannot guarantee to support each one.

It worked perfectly one night. But two times a row it has lost my anchor state and just tells me to set anchor again when checking the app. Feels pretty unreliable. I guess it's because it loses Gps signal. It shouldn't throw away the state with no warning. Also it's better to resume the state if the signal comes back

Set anchor according to custom. Went to sleep, dog tired. 1 hour later SIREN blasts out. Gather wits and head up on deck sure enough, we're drifting for the shallows. Reset anchor off back to bed for a good nights sleep. Thanks. Very reassuring.

This version does not support position logging in the free version. The pro version does not run on my phone (Nexus 5x with 7.1.1). Please roll back the last changes. It still does not run on my phone despite your assurances.

Like this app better than others tried, mostly for effective and clean user interface. Limited usefulness to me as my tablet's GPS fix is poor, not the app's fault. It would be nice to be able to key in anchor coords, otherwise I have to hit the button right as anchor is dropped...and then if it drags before it bites, there's no way to have a true anchor position for centering the swing circle.

Helpful, if it didn't have false alarms occasionally. The false alarms have become intolerable. The reported position is inaccurate, despite the location on the phone being set to the highest accuracy. The position reported by Anchor Watch is off by about 30' compared to the highly accurate GPS used for navigation. This app is unstable.

Upgrade and pay a couple dollars for the better version, it's worth it, helped me realize we dragged anchor a few times, now with bigger anchor and this app my trips ashore and sleeping are worry free

In the past I've found my vessel drifting into the shoals on the pamlico sound, but this is the ultimate fix. Its as good or maybe better than a crew member on night watch. Love it

When selecting feet it works but the notification remains in meters. Also the alarms don't play as alarms. They play as media. So if you have your music playing quietly through Bluetooth the alarm very quietly overlays the music and you'll often barely hear it. Real alarms like the calendar app don't have this problem. Also the fact that location logging has been reported to fill up memory and crash is just sad. So instead I use Geo Tracker which works great no matter how long I let it run.

Downloaded it last night as we anchored in a quiet anchorage. Unforecast near gale force winds blew up during the night. I was very grateful to be rudely woken up by the anchor alarm when we'd dragged 80m... and even more grateful to confirm we'd dug back in and hadn't moved any further. Will certainly download the full version as the anchor history would have been very helpful last night!
