Bihar is located in the eastern part of India. The state is surrounded by Nepal in the north, West Bengal in the east, Uttar Pradesh in the west and Jharkhand in the south. The economy of the state has grown at around 11.95 per cent during the 11th Five Year Plan. Jharkhand is the only state in India to produce coking coal, uranium and pyrite. The state is also a leading producer of coal, mica, kyanite and copper.
The average gross state domestic product (GSDP) growth rate was about 9.4 per cent between 2004-05 and 2011-12. The state provides investment opportunities in sectors such as mining and metals, power, infrastructure, manufacturing and food processing.
