Weather - The Weather Channel for Android
Thank you for listening to our requests. The app is much better. now.
Saved locations aren't loading. Please change the search layout back to the way it was.
I've tried them all and I can FINALLY say TWC is the best!! It had its issues for the longest time, but they seem to be resolved. You won't get faster govt alerts. Just yesterday 5/1 a Tornado Warning alert sounded on my phone simultaneously with my in-home weather radio. RealTime rain alerts are extremely helpful as well. (Just fix the double notification of news alerts - I only need to see it once
Absolutely essential for Road Trips. Great for fast real-time alerts in your area and up-to-date radar coverage. While traveling across country, a massive severe T-storm crossed our path. This app possibly saved us from running straight into it. It's a Must-Have!
I just got the Galaxy S8+. I had the S7 with MM OS before this and had no issues. With the S8+, the Weather Channel gives me a black screen 3 time out of 5. The only way to clear it and get it to work when this happens is to flush the memory. This usually happens after I turn data back on after it's been off a while.
Update: You have serious issues with this app: settings aren't saved. I can only assume there is a conflict with this app and weather underground. The real time updates doesn't update. The wrong town hours temperature is still in the notification area hours after leaving. I'm going to use the other app since it works. I use this app while driving to be notified on upcoming weather events.
First, my location doesn't show up on the radar screen when I have GPS turned on. (Galaxy S4) Second, the feedback system is terrible. Mobile users shouldn't have to thread through several applications, only to find that you accept feedback only from computers. The reason you're getting this feedback now is because I thought of using the Play Store, rather than trying to work through the apo itself, not because I was directed to do so by the app.
We need to have an app. Like this in texas we are in tornado alley just sayin i live in northeast texas and with this app.will help my family look out for bad weather our Elect.will most of the time will go out and our phone is the only thing we can get though with thank you
Radar map: Removing the blue dot showing my location is wrong. Absolutely need to keep the blue location dot! Without it, I can't find where I am at while traveling! The new wind and movement triangles need to be a seperate layer - then it will be a good idea. The radar map being easy to read is incredibly important during bad weather while traveling. It was easy to read until this recent app update - I would have given it 5 stars, then, not now. The radar map is too difficult to read, now.
Overall, not bad. The 2 issues that I would like to see addressed: 1) Having to sort through every city in my search history to look at the one or two I might check more regularly. There should be an option to save favorites or something. 2) Ongoing temperature notification turns off randomly. Very annoying.
Widget is always blank lately. The 1x1 widget appears blank now most of the time, since 2-3 months ago. Sometimes touching it will make it refresh, but most of the time that does NOT work so you have to completely remove and re-add it to your home screen. This started happening on my old Galaxy S6, it's now occuring on my new S8, and it's been happening on my g/f's S7 also. I liked this app's widgets better, but I'm tired of seeing nothing, so I'm uninstalling and moving to Weather Bug.
Some of the new changes are not helpful. I too have to wait for data to show up for my forecast. The storm tracking circles on the radar can be turned off, but the next you are in the app, they are back. I would like a widget with the time. I use another weather widget since it has the time too.
Clean and simple and I almost never see any adds. Favorite feature that I have yet to see on any other weather apps, the UV index! As easy as I burn I can quickly see how long I can stay outside before seeking shade, major kudos there! I just keep a simple widget, tells me what i usually want to know, 1 click on that and within a couple of seconds I've got the UV index. Plus it's free.
Glad to see the direction of travel icons back. Would like to have an option to temporarily dismiss them. The major problem I still have is that when I pinch the screen to zoom in or out the screen floats wildly. I'm using a Motorola Z Force Android.
The older versions were much better and easier to use. This newer version has too many ads and not as user friendly as previous. Just because there is an update doesn't mean it's better! Newest update as of 4/19 claims that it has resizable widget. This is not true on my LgG5
The forecast is hardly ever accurate except for the temperatures. Sunny is cloudy, storms is sunny, severe storms rarely are pridected as good as other apps. The overlay can be laggy at times and the menus are not too user friendly. This app use to be way better! What happened to the location marker and when there is storms, tornados you use to show the wind speeds on the radar but don't anymore...
This new version has the worst weather map I have seen in years. There was nothing broken in the previous version. Weather maps went from 5 to 1 rating. Why not let the user decide to play past or forecast? Why not show the user location with a clear tag on the map? Please fix.
Edit: thanks weather channel for fixing the hybrid bug, the app works great now :-) This app was great but suddenly my app no longer lets me have the units of measurment I normally use. I have it set on hybrid usually to get celsius and mph wind but it keeps switching back to metric which does the wind in kph. For some reason it lets me use 'English' which is also useless to me because althought it uses MPH it also uses farenheit... it is really frustrating.
I am uninstalling this app because I don't want to be forced to watch videos of limp children being hauled out of flooded cars...all I wanted was to check the forecast for tomorrow and now I feel sick and shaken. Why is this stuff on a weather app. Don't want to see alligator attacks and car crashes....is this really what we have become
Widget still broken. It won't show any weather data until the app is launched after a reboot, and the refresh button on the new widget fails to work 100% of the time. In order to find out anything, I have to launch the app. Period. AT&T Samsung S7 on Android 7.0. App is absolutely useless for a couple of months now due to this bug. Might just uninstall so it doesn't waste space or use battery.
Used this for years, it used to be great (apart from adverts) until last update, now the units of measure keep switching back to fully metric even when hybrid is selected, this is frustrating as windspeed generally is in MPH in the UK Update on this issue, this has now been resolved, thanks. Back to being a great app , but would be better without so many adverts
I do not like the fact that you force the storm tracker on me every time I open it. If I wanted it on I would turn it on. Sick of having to turn it off so I can see the radar. Dumb!
The ads are far too intrusive and annoying to use this app. Also, they cost me a $350 irrigation pump since they seldom send out crucial freeze warnings anymore. Their freeze warnings were very accurate a few years ago but this app is now pretty much completely useless.
After last update the blue dot location icon is gone. Showing users location on the radar map is essential for those who work outside & monitor weather. Thought I had found a replacement for mycast...guess not. I'll keep looking.
Too many ads from KROGERS and others, when you choose not to see an ad it comes back anyway. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS APP FOR WEATHER...EVER!!!! I am uni stalling it as soon as I'm done with this review!!!!
Hey, that extra layer for "storm cells" you added is not only annoying, it deletes the purpose of the radar since you CAN'T even see it now under the "storm cells". And, yes, I turned it off...and it automatically turns back on as soon as you exit radar. PLEASE FIX
Great app as always. But hey guys needs alittle updating. When opening app up its always says no data at first than app opens up just fine. Friends tell they see the same no data than it opens up. Tune her boys :)
This is my absolute favorite weather app. However...there is a bug lately concerning the videos. Every time I try to watch a video, it is grey and pixelated to the point that I cannot see anything. The sound is fine, which tells me the video is playing. I just cant see it.
No more location dot on radar map. The stupid circles and arrows block out the radar visibility. I hate it now. I work outside and need a live radar app, so, I guess I will have to look for a new app.
Very disappointed that you're not letting us use mpoints anymore, I along with many others, will be removing your app! Honestly, that is pretty much the only reason I use it, plenty of other weather apps out there, that are much more accurate!
The new radar update is terrible! It no longer has the blue dot showing you your current location and the radar is covered with stupid directional widgets. I want to know exactly where on the map I am and if I want to see the direction of the storm I will click play... Please change it back!
I used to love this app, but ever since my phone updated, it never reads or it takes forever. I just get "No Data" which is extremely annoying considering where I live, it snowed 3 days ago and is supposed to be in the high 70s this week. The weather changes rapidly here and I would really like this issue fixed and have to stop searching the internet for a reliable source.
Used to really like this app. Now has forced storm tracker on radar. Turn it off Everytime you look at radar. Should remember preferences...Annoying!
Overall a decent weather app with great features. 3 stars because there is definitely room for improvement. The app is a bit advertisement heavy. Widgets definitely need more information, especially the resizeable one. Some opacity settings would be great, maybe a transparent theme.
This app has been steadily going downhill... The new storm cell arrows are a joke, forecast is never right, future track for radar is worthless...I watch weather channel and it's different forecast than the app!
The last few updates were good, except the fact that the widget never automatically updates anymore on my homescreen. I have to click on the widget in order to get it refreshed. This has been an ongoing problem for a while. Please fix this. I always depend on the widget
I just dropped a star, whenever I restart my phone or my tablet I have to reinstall the widget. It's very annoying! But it is the best weather app out there... I just hope that bug gets fixed. It happens on my husband's phone as well.
It's better with the recent updates. However, with the Play Store version radar doesn't work on the Kindle Fire HD 8, have to use the very outdated Kindle version from the Amazon app store, ugh. Works great on my Galaxy Note 3... Loses 1 star for not being SD card compatible.
It would be nice if there was a quick way to look at the radar map. Instead I have to scroll pretty far down. UPDATE: there appears to be a link to the radar next to current weather conditions (unless that's only temporary due to storms in the area). However I do not like the storm cells layer that is always overlaid on the radar: it blocks the surrounding geography rendering the radar data useless. I did finally locate the setting to turn it off but it is buried and annoying to have to do this every time I view the radar.

Thank you for sorting the issue with unit of measurement in the latest update.
