WD TV Remote

I have been trying to contact WD support for the past month without success about the app not working on Marshmallow. It was VERY GOOD until 6.0 then suddenly it doesn't work anymore. If you have marshmallow, don't bother downloading it, it doesn't work at all.

ETA: dropping a star as it continually stops "seeing" my WDTV. I have to keep restarting the app to detect the WDTV again. OP: It would have been 4 stars but what the heck happened to the power off button??? How do I power on/off my WDTV now? I'm reduced to un/replugging as needed which is pretty inconvenient

LOL poor ruku people this is so much better. Plays everything. This app has always worked flawlessly. You true computer geeks know what I'm saying. Western digital is always the way to go. Specially on hard drives. Of course gen 1 live TV player is supposed to be better don't know what flaws were in gen 2,3

I left my remote to my wdtv at a friends and would love if this app worked. But it is stuck on the choose your device stage. As of now, unusable

Its slow on searching wd tv although first time setup already connected. U need to clear data and run this app again to resetup every time u wan to use this app. Different with the ios version, where the wd tv will be shown connected directly. And also the android version, lack of power button. Ios have it.

Gets the job done on my Western Digital live hub. Navigation is simple and I love the shortcuts to widgets. Too bad that Western Digital discontinued support on the live hub after 2 years. Will never buy another Western Digital due to their product life cycle and screwing customers that are early technology adopters but I like this app and I'm happy that it still supports the hardware.

This app only works once at a time, then I have to uninstall and reinstall again for it to work again. It's a shame because it does exactly what I need to do but this a major error which must be fixed.

Love this app as my real remote is smashed. Is slow to respond/connect sometimes but otherwise can't complain. Would love wdtv update as it hasnt had one in ages. Would be great to see stan accessibility added to the list

I encounter issues with this app once a week where it crashes so bad that I need to restart my phone. Please look into this ASAP. However when it works its an awesome app

Downloaded it last night, worked great! Today, just gets stuck searching. Disappointing! Edit- as soon as I connected to Wi-Fi, it started working.

If you've updated your firmware to 2.0 & are having problems then rollback to 1.6 and you're WD TV Live will run as it should again. As for the swipe app its rubbish don't bother. Thankfully they've brought back the standard controls & I'm happy about that.

Latest "update" doesn't launch past the 'select your device' screen. It can't detect either WD Live TV players that I own. This app deserves ZERO stars.

Any app that forces reboot of your device is unacceptable. It's made even more so when the problem has existed for nearly a year. It's just not good consumer relations when it took almost a year to come up with an upgrade. But still completely disregarding the fact that it has major issues with the Nexus 7 tablet. I am seriously close to never purchasing another WD product. Fix this now.

Was going to give it 3 star 'cos its probably the best of the remainder. Now I find there's no power on/off button, so now I can't power on the box.

Its just another version of the actual remote. Would be much better if I could actually use the keyboard on my phone to type, instead of just selecting the letters using the remote... so tedious!

I hate these swipe controls...Not good for navigating embedded menus. Latest update wouldn't install - getting stuck on "updating". Give me back version 1.1 of this app or at least the keyboard of that version- I was happiest with that version!

I absolutely hate this app. I have to Uninstall it and reinstall it every time I want to switch from one of my devices to the other. Most of the time it doesn't work and I have to reboot every single time I want to do something on it. I've heard this app sucks with android but this is ridiculous. If the kids hadn't broken our remote I would never use this app again. Doesn't even deserve a star.

Install and all works well. Close the app and restart. Screen come up western digital remote and will not load. Can't access any other screen as it takes over and have to restart the tablet. Really poor but works on my Samsung s4 and works fairly well.

Stay with the old version. It's rock solid. I think development for this product has stopped so I don't foresee any fixes for this app. I don't know if it's allowed but I can email the old .apk to someone if they need it. Also, I use a fixed IP so the app always knows where my device is. (App only works once then quits issue).

I was happy to find this app as my WD Live remote disappeared when I moved. However it constantly disconnects and I have to restart the app, often just while going thru the menus. Now suddenly it won't connect at all. I'm on a separate LAN with only the box and one device connecting to it, with no external connection. No reason for it not to see the box. Very frustrating.

If you have lost the original remote that came with the device, then this is an adequate alternative. But it's pretty shoddy and there's LESS control with online content with this app. On the plus side there is a volume control which the hardware remote lacks. UPDATE: A massive improvement on the old app.

Cannot even find connected device. WD so poorly supports all of their technology. The WD TV Live hasn't seen an update to firmware in ages, why should they even bother with their app?

Works great on mobile like Sony Xperia Z series, but on tablet side for example with Nexus 7 there are some problems, the app often crashes on top of the Android UI so that reboot of the tablet is the only fix.

Like others have said, this works fine first time but when you reopen the app future times it won't work. Pretty major error if you ask me. Otherwise its a great idea especially as we lost our actual WD remote. Fix would this would be great.

But I can't even pick a device, it just keeps loading... very disappointed.

Every time I'm going back and forth between the app and texting, the app freezes up, causing me to have to restart it. Very annoying. Please fix. Samsung GS5 Active. WD TV Live. Using AT&T Messages App.

What is wrong with WD not including the volume control in its physical remote control? Really? I still have to go to the Play Store and download your remote app? This makes at least 2 devices on hand just to use your media player. Either your phone or the TV's remote control will go with WD's physical remote. Not including the volume control in the physical remote is simply plain SICK and STUPID! If i have known in advanced, i wouldn't have bought this waste of money!

I like the app now. But it gets annoying when I bring the app back up and it says "searching for wd" after it just worked. I would have to completely close it out then reopen. Other than that it's good now

A good effort but there's a lot of lag between the keypress and the actual execution on the device... and I have a fast broadband.

Used for years successfully on iPhone and iPad but on a Samsung Galaxy S5 it sometimes detects the WD Live box but once I leave the app and come back to use it again it says 'searching' but never finds a device. Meanwhile my iphone still works fine. Frustrating.

I use it on LG G3 with WD TV Live. It is well designed, but the keyboard transmits + instead of space, which is not understood by search, making searches very annoying . Checking the Web, this problem has not been corrected for a long time.

Lots more functionality than Peel provides, but wont reliably wake the unit (TV Live gen3) when its gone to sleep. Guess it doesnt also use the IR Blaster, it must count on the network connection.

Not working at all. Hands my tablet so badly I have to power it off and restart.

Decent app works very well, only issue I am having is that I can't seem to get the services icons to organize they way I would like. Started out fine and as I moved others around it seem to freeze or forget my arrangement. Again overall decent app

Was super happy this installed and worked right off the bat with my Samsung galaxy tab A. After being done with it, I came to use it again the next day and the app comes up freezing with a black screen. Wtf? As others stated, you must reboot your tablet to get back into the os. I would gladly pay for this app if it worked lol. Too bad.

Terribly sensitive controls, can't select first time on s4 or nexus 7. Terrible update, but player is finally recognized again. Update may 2015 - controls are better, but app loses connection after a couple minutes and needs to be closed and reopened.

An update ruined my using Peer Remote with my WDTV. I thought this was answer got all excited liked having volume control, but no power button ??? Really?! ErrROAR!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have to uninstall the app and reinstall it again, just to open it. If I simply open the app from it's icon it just gives me the splash-screen and doesn't open. I'm unable to get to my home screen, so I reboot, uninstall, reinstall, and hope it opens. This is the same for my Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Acer Iconia Tablet, and an old Nexus S. :(

Wont find device wd dissapointed me. They dont support their stuff so no more wd for me.
