My Cloud for Android
We have android as well as IOS in our household. We have had My Cloud for 2 years, and all devices are able to connect whether at home or on the road. Some times it does however take a minute to connect and if after waiting it is still unable to connect a reboot will fix that. Recently I was on vacation 1200 miles from home and I was able to download TV Shows stored on My Cloud and watch them in my hotel room at night. My one gripe is that My Cloud does not confirm to you when you copy a file from your device to My Cloud. Incidentally WD Sync which connects My Cloud to a Wndows computer is flawless and fast.
The most frustrating remote client I've ever used. Seldom works away from my home network which makes the mycloud storage much less useful. Western Digital really needs to overall this app to improve its connectivity.
Such a clunky app. Filenames are so truncated you can't work out which file is which. Made worse by large font and the app bring portrait only. There is absolutely no way to see the full filename. The screen layout is fixed. All in all a usability nightmare. I suggest WD take a look at other File Managers to see how it's done properly.
The app does not allow me to view my pics! I have been working on this app for one week now... Countless hours! I can see all the photos there, however they do not open up. I'm seriously considering taking this hard drive back.
The layout of the window forces truncated filenames... now it's worse because they decided to increase the font size. Fire your UX designer! UPDATE: after spending an hour on the phone and sending them not only screenshots, but video of their product not displaying correctly on my Samsung tablet, they admitted that it is indeed a problem. Then blamed my tablet for their poor coding. And even tho i took the time to bring it to their attention, they won't fix it.
App is so unreliable, hardly ever works, says cloud server is down when it's clearly not. rubbish app. uninstalled it and reinstalled and selected login and it's frozen. can't as my stuff at all now. might sell it had enough. Update still terrible does not even connect to the cloud box. Also why would I need to configure port forwarding on my own network It just doesn't work.
Not bad, but no progress bar when uploading files and no confirmation when the files have uploaded from your phone or device. Paranoid all haven't copied over and have to waste time having to rechecked if they have coped individually. No option to move and remove old files over from phone they just copy over leaving existing files. Some thumbnails upside down when uploaded from phone even thought the video is the correct way !
Why this app doesn't work in the same way like on iOS? Uploading pictures directly from gallery doesent work witch is the basic function...(pictures end up in download folder in wd app)...need open the app go to destination folder on hdd and then choose pictures(app doesn't allow to sort pictures while choosing to upload) and upload.
Useful app. But needs a lot of improvement such as enabling direct copy from pen drive to My Cloud and vice versa rather than routing through internet which is a very costly affairs in countries such as Indian Auto back up should be made optional with option to switch off. Even when switched off it starts back up now. These things nerd to be attended. Regards
Every time, when i want to open files remotely. It always says Remote access disabled (970). I dont know, what it means phone has internet but not connecting to cloud at all. Please fix it or else it is useless saying my cloud. Thanks
It would be nice to be able to screen mirroring photos from photo viewer to Android TV (or other devices) like Google Photos. The share-a-link feature does not seem to work, the app freezes.
The device does what is says on the tin, but access via anything other than windows feels clunky. Would like to see a better user interface, something similar to what's been given to MyCloud Home users.
WD My Cloud. Most awkward thing to try and set up. Supposed to be simple...yes, if you have a degree in computer programming. Think it can go in the bin and I will get a standard hard drive to back up. Can't set it up properly or link devices and the device itself keeps disappearing from my desktop!! Also when you setup a device and put in password on the desktop it does this ok. When you sign in from a mobile device it tells you it's the wrong password (which it wasnt) then when you reset the password it states you must have capitals and numbers yet when setting up on your desktop it allows you to do so without having capitals etc. How can this be? Effectively it lets you setup an account on the desktop then blocks you for wrong password when trying to access from a mobile device!
Working as it should just have to know how to, first I thought by reading some bad reviews it might not but there is no problem at all with moving files where ever I am home or away also sharing. Now I use it as my personal backup when I need to without any hiccup.....
Worse app and nas ever ,even the support sucks. I have a lg g5 and for nothing would the automatic photo back up work . as for the tech aupport your better off talking to a tree. Better off going with a qnap than this rubbish device
Backup works so-so with my android phone: sometimes immediately pics are saved sometimes not. Omits directory structures and just dumps things as they go. No idea how to put the device to sleep from app level when i need to reset the whole network. Creates folders for no apparent reason. Unclear how to select what should be backed up like which files/groups of files/folders etc. Overall - many gaps, limited functions - good for 2min apple style presentation, but less for a regular user.
The best thing you guys can do is stop paying for storage. Get yourself a WD My Cloud device and download this app on all of your devices. The app works great. I'm really enjoying it and I have the beauty of knowing I won't lose any of my photos or videos. And also I don't need to pay for a subscription from a cloud ???? service as this belongs to me
Why can't I see any information about the cloud drive? Amount of space available, etc? Continue to have issues with the app not uploading files until after I open the app. Why can't it just work like Dropbox?
Hey Devs, sorry for the review but it does not work anymore with Chromecast. I was enjoying this functionality to play movies directly from my Chromecast but now it's just a waste. Your support is much appreciated. Thanks.
Spent a weekend installing and setup users. Could use a easier interface. 3tb my cloud. Uploaded 100 jpg, worked ok. Uploaded a few thousand family pictures, now it is a mess, can acess the pictures but cannot view them, get a cannot access files error. Seems to have a lot of issues. Almost more trouble then its worth. I have not worked with anything this slow since windows 3.1 Time for a rma.....
The application still needs a lot of work and optimization. Automatic backups don't work smoothly. If a folder has many files the application just "freezes" loading and it's not super user friendly and intuitive. Implement or a initial file disposition or some kind of lazy loading
It's a really useful app. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is lack of thumbnails for stored photos. There when remote accessed from pc, but never through app. Shame particularly as it is for use . By a photographer.
Works good for the most part. Occasionally videos don't stream well. Updated my firmware last night and had to uninstall and reinstall the app. It screwed up the streaming.
After a shaky start some 5 years ago when the initial software / firmware was poor (unreliable, hard to setup unless you were a major geek) it now just works. Pictures upload fine from my phone (Samsung A5) and I can easily copy up picture files from my win 10 pc. Just don't let the marketing tw_ts near the product!!!
Pathetic App... Very slow. Can't share link of any file. This app really need to be redone properly.
Every time I try to play a stored video it says I've been disconnected from the network. But I'm still connected. Frustrated
My folder is password protected and still any WINDOWS pc connected to my network seems to access all my filez... !@#$% oh, also i have an external drive usb attached as back up which allows users/anyone on my network to get into. No privicay whatsoever
great...I've been waiting very patiently for 2 years now for this app to be improved so it works reliably with my my cloud mirror and now I just learned they launched the new my cloud home which got me excited but seems that is not compatible with my wd device, and from the reviews seems worse than this my cloud app. this app supposedly has so many features but I can't even get the basic backup to work reliably without having to constantly unregister and reregister the wd device in the app and spend countless hours trying to get it to back up without failing, i guess at this point my dream of this ever working reliably and the hope for a button to invoke the backup and ability to run in the background and back up other directories beyond that camera folder is out the window. think it's time to move on to some other solution.
Sucks. Finds my NAS, I add it, get prompted for login, enter, and told i need to reestablish and to add again (401). Do this gymnastic a few more times with same failing results. This app is as flaky as the device itself. I think I'm pretty much through with western digital products at this point.
Some huchups but ok. Cloud device never sleeps though, so I don't use it much since the device has to be unplugged most of the time. Support isn't helpful.
Such a bad app always shows remotely access disabled. When i wanted to remotely access
Update: on my new S8 it suddenly stopped working. For months i was stuck. WD couldn't help much. Samsung couldn't. At the end i decided to reset my phone. In the process i decided to makesure i backed up phone data with Samsung. I manually did that and took some screenshots of few things so i can restore the phone. At that point WD myCloud suddenly started to work. My recommendation is to try Samsung backup first and see if that fixes the backup issue. After i had my galaxy s5 software updated it doesn't auto backup anymore when I open the app. It used to before. Sort it out WD. I paid a lot of money for my cloud mirror.
It's a great app. It works like a vault for keeping most of the important and valuable items in the device. I'm enjoying using it. But it would a good idea to include the sharing function to locations on the device other than Cloud. Keep up the good work.
It basically hasn't been maintained properly. When I access it with my Android phone, it takes hours to backup few photos. It doesn't let me download the whole directory the processes just fail or don't start at all. They need to work on making upload and download of files faster and easier for the mobile app.
This app requires alot of work to bring it up to scratch. Its very clunky and does not hold onto your settings and also has constant connection problems. It also tells me i dont have access to my own share on my NAS. It needs work from both devs and UX'ers.
I'm generally very please with this app yet Ill always be a little miffed with the lack of Android Wear support for music.
WD should be ashamed of this app. Slow app that works occasionally. Faster to use Google Photos which is more reliable, easier to share and works!
Good products, but app is rubbish. Can't say no more. Bought HDD, but this making me sad.
Makes far more sense for a business than onedrive, Dropbox or Google. I like the app. I was having major business issues with how onedrive operated so I switched to a physical product.

Error 403??? Cant access My passport wireless pro. Connected my phone via wifi ok but using the app to access the drive I get error 403 user does mot have access. Cant even get into the dashboard of the app/drive. Did a Google and see lots about error 403 so obviously WD have a problem because after spending an hour trying to get it to work gave up and took it back. Nice idea but obviously full of bugs as it did the same on my slate.
