About Frames for Android

Now you can use the same scoring and statistics software that many PBA players use!

Frames is a very easy to use scoring and statistics program that was designed for all levels of bowlers, from beginners who are looking for ways to improve, to scratch players who bowl in lots of tournaments.

With Frames, you can:

* List your strike, pocket, carry, spare and single pin spare percentages, plus lots of other stats.

* Display your league, tournament, or overall average.

* Generate statistics by alley, lane number, bowling ball, league, tournament, oil pattern, date range, or any combination of these.

* Track your foot position and target for each frame you bowl, so you can check what adjustments worked (or didn't work) the last time you bowled on a specific pair of lanes or oil pattern.

* Display a list of the spares you leave most, and your conversion percentage for each of them.

* Keep score for an entire team of bowlers at the same time.

While you're keeping score with Frames, you enter the results of each shot graphically, using your device's touch-screen to knock down the pins on the screen to match the real thing. It literally takes only a second or two to score each frame while you're bowling!

For each strike shot, you can also keep track of your position on the approach, your target on the lane, the ball you used, and whether your shot hit the pocket.

You can also visit our web site at www.warilysoftware.com for the following free extras:

* A free demo version of Frames is available. The demo version is the same exact program that is available for purchase here in the Android Market, but it limited to six games per bowler (up to 30 total games for five bowlers).

* The free Frames Exporter program runs on your Windows or Apple desktop computer to view and print your games or statistics, or export your game data to a spreadsheet to do your own custom analysis.

* The Frames Users Guide, available as a PDF on our web site, contains detailed information on running Frames and installing and running the Exporter program.

Frames is the original mobile score keeper for bowlers, originally released in 2003 for Palm OS and Windows Pocket PC handhelds.

The only thing that makes this better than "mylane play" is your ability to put where you stand and your target every frame. I also don't like the fact it won't let you track your handicap. Other than that it is a good app. But not worth $9.99 maybe closer to $5.99.

It would be a much better program if the license was saved on the tablet or phone. Very annoying to have the app revert to demo version when you arrive at the alley without wifi. 7/17/17 could not connect with frames tonight. Please fix the license section of this app!!!

If you change cellular phones it is a big hassle to get the app to function again!

I have been using this app for years and think it is very good. It is missing the ability to track ball speed and it lacks an option for scoring a foul.

Need to add on feature for expenses for the serious bowlers. Money spent on side pots, brackets, tournament cost, ball purchases, drilling maintenance, travel expenses. i used to have these features on an old desktop 10 yrs ago. Very helpful. Overall good app. Update: When deleting a ball you no longer own, it shouldn't delete the game information

After doing the recent upgrade, I was able to use the app only in demo mode. I emailed support and quite quickly received a return email. Great help. Unfortunately, due to my own neglect, I did lose 3 years worth of my son's bowling matches. Thank you, again, for your assistance in getting this fixed for me!

If you delete a ball from your ball list or a pattern, then all games associated with that ball or pattern are deleted. Consider updating to eliminate these programming mistakes to get a better rating. Since there aren't too many good bowling stat apps out there to compete, this one is the best. It could definitely be improved.

I downloaded an update today, and Frames has stopped working. I had to buy a different app as a result. I happily used Frames for several years on multiple devices, so this was very upsetting. Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

Have used this app on Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Android. It would be nice to be able to track expenses (balls, drilling, practice, league, tourneys, side pots, ...) and winnings. Also, changing stand & target is touchy on my Nexus 5 but it wasn't on my NoteII so I think it's h/w related.

I do like the interface for starting position and target. One of the key things that you should be able to do is to view your scores and see the actual pin fall with out having to go through the game one frame at a time. (However, you can see your games with pin fall if you export the data and pull it in using the Frames Exporter. But this should be available directly from the app.)

App has improved, since my last review. Data would be lost, forced to enter the data again due to the app force closing, which occurred when I received an incoming call. Issue has been resolved. Only issue now is I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 & I also can't get to the option menu.

I love this app it helps you so much I just wish they had a win lost stat for match play

M70%

Great app, I would like to see target and feet position stored in memory for each house bowled in and each pattern bowled on. It would be a 5 star app then.

M70%
by M####:

If you like stats, most bowlers do, Frames is the best I have found. It really helps when I practice. By looking at the spares and %, I know what spares I need to work on.

M70%
by M####:

But I'd love it if it had a feature to add a spare ball with a simple checkbox to indicate if you used it on that particular shot.

M70%
by M####:

The developer is fast to respond to bugs and requests, so even though it's not quite yet feature-complete, it won't be long. I don't use all the features because I don't need to track that much about my bowling, but sane defaults makes it work. A few additions (editing for old games, adding "X" and "/" graphics that mirror the Palm version, and allowing direct text entry of position and target for those of us with fat fingers) and it's a five-star app.

K70%
by K####:

Does a great job for the serious bowler. Biggest issue I personally have relates to Spare shooting: a menu setting locking (w/ adjusting it off for bucket leaves etc) in use of a spare ball for all spares would be GREAT. Also would be nice to start session quickly, filling in information later. As for previous comments about pinfall counts & ball changes: with my app, both work fine for me on a Samsung Charge.

I bowl in a PBA experience league so i can learn to bowl on the lanes líke the pros. Its alot of fun. Everyone should try it. Alot of times throughout bowling You at one point have to change Balls. This app doesnt allow you to do that during the game. It also would be great if we Were able to input notes about our game frame to frame. I also noticed that you cannot bring up previous notes or games bowled to view and go over at a later time. Otherwise I like this app. Hope this helps to improve this app.

This is a very usefull app for monitoring lane transition and the physical aspects of bowling. What would be also useful would be to have functionality to track the breakpoint. Thank you for such a powerful app!

Now that its single biggest flaw has been fixed , Frames can be considered a very solid tool for bowlers of all levels. The only things missing from it that I'd like to see are: - a Default spare ball (ideally having exceptions like 2-8 sleepers or 1-2-4-10 washouts which you may need or prefer to throw your strike ball for could be selected and stored); and - a third target marker to mark your breakpoint. intended and actual marks for feet, arrow and breakpoint marks would be a good tool as well.

3.07b does not keep history. I have imported my data and after reboot, the data is gone.

J70%
by J####:

Upgrading back to 4 stars, as the bug for the continuous unload is fixed - woohoo. Now you don't need to worry about having the phone lock while Frames is in the back ground and having to start over again. Now ... when game editing, and notes are back in the code, maybe I'll upgrade again!

1 of the better Market apps. I like strike %s...but i'd like to track stats on my longest string of strikes and how many 3-12 baggers i've thrown. also wish I could track stats on whether i hit my mark or missed it left or right. And lastly I wish i could add notes to frames to track adjustments I make other than target and start position. Add those 3 things and its 5 stars!!!

I've owned frames for my Palm for many years and been very happy. Now after having paid for the android version I've become very disappointed. The new Multi-user "feature" gets in the way of the single user app it used to be. Over 99% of the users are single users and you can't use the program this way without jumping through a lot of harassing hoops everywhere regarding multiuser questions and prompts. How annoying! It's packed full of bugs and peculiar situations and the developer is very slow to improve or has completely abandoned support. Ideas for improvements are pretty much ignored. I've never been so disappointed with an "upgrade" in all my life. It's very poorly done to say the least. NOT RECOMMENDED IMHO. Maybe the developer will bring it to its old successful state some day when he realizes the damage hes done with adding this strange multiuser "feature". If it's not broke don't fix it and now it's broke. I'm now very sorry for having trusted the developer to improve the app as time passes. Clearly Frames has taken many steps backwards and I can't see it getting better any time soon. I switched to PinPal and I'm happy again.
