WalkLogger pedometer for Android
I've had this installed for few days now. I walk 2x's each day. Last night it didn't calculate the mileage and again today. I turned off my phone thinking I was adjusting it. But was the same??? I've had it over a year now, doesn't calculate the miles correctly... When I walk 2miles, it doesn't calculate that.... Not sure what the sensitivety is used for... I did change 1 thing on it last night... Will try tonight holding it rather than in my pocket and see if it updates better... Works perfectly for me now....
Sometimes if I'm out walking passed midnight the steps from the day before counts on the new day. The app frequently says I've been biking although I haven't. And sometimes the count does not add up: same walk done again and again (different day or time of day) can differ as much as 700 steps. That said I must admit that this is the most accurate free step counting app I've come across.
I've used this app every day for two months. It was accurate for a while and then started saying I was burning 5x the calories. Other days it stopped activating all together. It also tends to turn off when stopping for a quick break or sightseeing, and would refuse to reactivate no matter what I did. Uninstalled due to getting a more accurate physical pedometer.
I really like the idea that this one has no special permissions and your information doesn't leave your phone unless you want it too. However, you have to take 10-25 steps before it decides that you are walking and then it doesn't log those first 10-25 steps. If you do a bunch of short treks (less than 20 steps) with pauses in between you can build up a lot of steps that it won't count towards your total. You can manually add steps, but then you are back to counting your steps, which I don't want to have to do. I have tried raising the sensitivity, but then it gives me three steps for every two. The ads don't bother me. They run on a small strip across the bottom and are not intrusive.
Go ahead, brag to your friends. Tell em you did five miles today at work. A fun app to use. It keeps records of all your days up to at least 3 years so you can reference to a specific day.
The one reason I acquired this app was it's ability to tell me how far I've walked within a given time frame. When I walk in the neighborhood for 20, 35, or 45 minutes, I wanted to know the specific number of steps I was taking over the individual distances. No other app delivered that feature.
This app is fine for just logging the steps you take when you happen to be carrying your phone. I wish it allowed me to log other activities, such as dance class, where I don't carry my phone. I hate having to use multiple apps to track things.
I tried a few others and they were unusable for one reason or another one. This one works consistently, at least so far, doesn't use up a lot of battery, and tells me what i need to know. Simple and effective! 5/5/17 update and question for the owners; the appv didn't count my steps a few days this week and i think the data and wifi probably were both off at those times. It used to work without data or wefi. Has this chsnged? If not, what could have made the app not operate properly?
When I first installed this program 2 years ago it worked very well. Then about 10 months ago it became inaccurate to thee point of useless. Could it be that I got a Fixbit for last Xmas?
I have enjoyed using this app. Once I learned how to adjust the plus or minuses for my individual stride I looked forward to using it everyday and seeing my accomplishments. I calibrated it with another pedometer and it was only about 5 steps more or less than the other one at the end of the day. I liked being rewarded the bronze trophies when I walked over 5000 steps. I look forward to receiving a gold trophy when I reach my goal of 10,000 steps. Thanks to whoever created this app.
I love this app, it's accurate and always logs my walks correctly which my previous ones haven't done. One issue was I popped my phone in the pram once and it thought I was on a bike ride (understandably) so watch out for that. Whilst using this app I have pushed myself to walk more and have completed 120 miles in less then 4 weeks and lost 7 pounds :)
I found this app awesome.. The only problem I find is that it records even when I am travelling in bus or train or even when I shake my phone by mistake also... I would suggest you to give a widget istead of notification so dat it becomes easy for me to stop the pedometer whenever I am not walking. Otherwise awesome!!!
This is a great app. It counts your steps for you, especially for someone like me who is just starting out. I would forget to start when I start walking and would never have an accurate reading, but with this app, it counts automatically. Please gives all the information I need. I give a 4 rating because it will not give a monthly summary and their isn't a setting to my knowledge, of calculating minutes and steps.
I've been using this app for over a year and I can attest to its accuracy in counting steps as well as its ease of use. Runs in the background without reading up all of my phone's resources and it doesn't ask for any unnecessary permissions. I also like that it doesn't track and record my movements. Thanks for creating a great app dev!
I don't care what the hell kind of issues this app has - it's the only pedometer around that doesn't want anything with my privacy. It doesn't want access to my location, my contacts, my personal info, my phone records, my photos (why the hell does a pedometer need that),my Google account, my Facebook, my Twitter, my search history, none of that crap. It measures my steps like a pedometer should without sharing every fart on the internet. Kudos for that!
I cannot tell fully whether the step count is correct but I definitely know it's not showing the correct mileage as I know my walk to and from work is 3 miles in total, this app has never hit over a mile. Tried adjusting the sensitivity but the result is the same. Sorry, it's a uninstall for me.....
Since loading it I have been checking my progress daily leading me to try and beat preohigh scores. I was surprised by how many steps I was showing for just doing stuff around the home. I thought perhaps it was over sensitive but checking against a manual count only showed a variance in single digits. That plus the fact it seems to sense when I'm travelling by car means it gets a worthy 5 stars.
It's reporting that walking over 30% more REDUCES calories burned by 5%. Very confusing. Today I did light housework for an hour and then worked in the garden 3 hours, this app clocked over 2 hours of active time with ZERO steps. :-( Yesterday, at MOST sensitive setting, this app recorded 233 steps. Odd, because I walked the dog and went shopping for over 3 hours. Pacer recorded over 12,000 steps. Uninstalling.
Out of all the pedometer apps I've installed, this one seems to be pretty accurate. But, it doesn't update right away. I walked upstairs and downstairs to test out the app, and when I went downstairs to the kitchen it recorded 30 steps, which is about right. My only gripe was when I went back upstairs, it didn't record the steps. About an hour later, I went back into the app, and it updated to 132 steps. Please developers, can you fix this problem, this app would've received 5 stars.
I Used to Love this app.. From the time I get up to the time I would go to bed it would count 7000 to 9000 or more steps.. When I First started using this app i would have given it 5☆'s.. I've had my phone on me all day at work. And it only recorded 132 steps. & No I don't sit at a desk.. I work indoors/outdoors..
The number of steps for each day now starts from the previous day's total and if you reset it back to zero it doesn't show the steps as you walk along. There's no obvious way of correcting/resetting it or updating it.
Good app. It starts up when I start walking and remains in the notification bar for a while afterwards so that I can see how far I've just walked. The summary pages are very useful. Exactly what I needed to get an idea of distance walked every day. No noticeable drain on the battery either.
I used to have a IPod Nano which had a pedometer and it was ok. I thought I would see if there was one for the phone. After a couple of lousy ad riddled apps I found this one. It is awesome and free to boot. Well worth the download and better than the Nike one Apple has.
I really like this app but I don't think it's very accurate. I have tried several and they all give different results. I currently have two installed. Sometimes this one counts more steps and sometimes the other counts more, and the difference is a significant amount. So I think all these phone pedometer apps only give a rough estimate of the number of steps taken.
I use this to help me stay motivated. Not because I am a fitness nut, but because I have medical issues that really try to limit my activities. This way I am reminded how many steps I've taken and maybe I can do more.
It seems to work well enough on my Galaxy Core Prime, but the widget needs work. Ugly and ill-formatted. I would also prefer a daily progress view over the hourly view it shows, now.
I always wondered how many steps I take in a day , couldn't believe it was over 18000! I guess between my job and walking my dogs, it adds up. I have tried a few other apps and they are much the same but this app has a few extras that I like!
At first it was great, then the second week came it failed to reset automatically then wouldn't count steps you took or would subtract steps and distance from what you had after you stopped walking. Wish it would work properly.
All set up correctly (even measured my footstep distance for one step), however 50 correct steps in, this app only measured them as 34 steps. Not sure why the difference? Also, before I'd even started moving, the app said I'd already done 820 steps... I'd literally just installed it! The interface is bad also, very basic and not visually appealing. Very buggy. I'm using Android on. HTC One M8 fully updated.
Does what I want it to do, counts my steps and keeps track of basically how far I've walked. I don't think it's 100% accurate, but neither were any of the mechanical pedometers I've had. It is worth taking the time to adjust the settings if you think it's off.
It was a brilliant app on my old phone but I have installed it the same on my new phone and it only works to 0.01 mile then stops. Very frustrating after last year when it counted 1890 miles I walked in the year. There is possibly something else wrong if so I wish they would sort it out.
My steps were sitting at 1297. I picked it up and walked across the room to my sliding door, and it jumped up to 6500 steps before my eyes in a distance of only 16 steps. I walked back and it said I had walked 450 steps when I know I had walked less than 40. And then jump back to 1297 showed no steps and when I took two steps it went back up to 6541. This is so inaccurate and so full of bugs as to be worthless.
I have 3 walking apps installed and this is the most accurate when going for a walk. I have manually counted my steps over a distance and this one is spot on. I find it not to be as accurate when walking just a few steps at a time (like walking into the next room). Also when I go walking I find it more accurate when I hold my phone vs putting it in my pocket.
For someone who sometimes finds it hard just to get out of bed in the morning, being able to see how many steps I take is a motivation and a blessing. Love this app!
I installed it just to track approximatively my steps. It's not even close. I walked continuously 2h15. And it just recorded 5.000 steps. I am going to uninstall. Thank you for sharing and for your work. I know it requires dedication. But it's not what i need.
It's really good 2 know how many steps or kilometers u've walked. Just @ d begging it seems confusing,bt l8er u get used to it :-)
Good app on the whole, but little man on screen doesn't walk any more, don't know if it something I've done. It's sometimes slow to update. But generally this app is quite good.
Does what it says and the only app that doesn't want access to everything about me!!!! Haven't quite worked out the sensitivity bit but seems accurate and I like the way it breaks the days activities down
It seems to do what it says although google fit and it are never the same but I haven't had any issues with it so far on my nexus 5. I like that it runs quietly in the back ground. Super handy when I was in Europe to find out how far I was walking each day. And its great to earn medals for different distances -makes me feel proud of my accomplishments.

This one works. I've tried a dozen pedometers and none would actually count steps accurately except for this one. I compare it to my Omron pedometer which I have checked which will count to the exact step. These both will count within .3% or better. I also like the fact that you can change the step count. The mileage also comes out exactly. Doesn't seem to drain the battery at all. Compared to one app I used that drained 1/2 of my battery. Now I need to see how accurate it is while driving a car as you don't want to count as you are doing so, but from what I've seen so far so good.
