SMPN 4 KOTA SERANG

SMP Negeri 4 Serang beralamat di Jalan Juhdi No. 20 Serang memiliki latar belakang sejarah yang unik. Sekolah ini bediri sekitar tahun 1960an dengan menempati salah satu ruang di gedung Keresidenan Banten (Sekarang Kantor Gubernur Banten). Perjalanan SMEP Serang sangat pesat dan animo pelajar se Banten terhadap SMEP sangat tinggi. Kemudian pada dekade tahun 1965an, SMEP Negeri Serang menempati gedung Chung Hua melalui perjuangan rakyat. Sekolah ini secara resmi berdiri tahun 1967 dengan nama Sekolah Menengah Ekonomi Pertama (SMEP) Negeri Serang dengan Kepala Sekolah pertama Bapak Somawinata. Sebagai sekolah kejuruan ekonomi pertama di Serang, sekolah ini berkonsentrasi menyiapkan peserta didik untuk melanjutkan studi ke Sekolah Menengah Ekonomi Atas (SMEA).

Seiring dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi serta kebijakan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan RI saat itu, nama dan tugas pokok SMEP berubah menjadi Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Pertama (SLTP) pada tahun 1979 dengan diperkuat oleh SK Kanwil Depdikbud Prop. JABAR No. 030/U/1979 tanggal 17 Pebruari 1979. Jadi dilihat dari tugas pokok dan fungsinya, sekolah ini menjadi sekolah umum yang tugasnya mengantarkan peserta didik ke Sekolah Menengah Atas, Sekolah Kejuruan dan Sekolah Kedinasan. SMP Negeri 4 Serang is located at Jalan Juhdi No. 20 Attacking has a unique historical background. This school stand up in the 1960s to occupy one of the spaces in the building residency Banten (Banten Governor's Office now). SMEP trip Serang very rapidly and the interest of all students Banten against SMEP very high. Later in the decade 1965an, State SMEP Chung Hua Attack occupies the building through the struggle of the people. This school was officially established in 1967 under the name First Secondary School of Economics (SMEP) Foreign Attack first Principal Mr. Somawinata. As the first economic vocational schools in Serang, the school is concentrating prepare students to continue their studies to the Secondary School of Economics (SMEA).

Along with the development of science and technology as well as the policies of the Minister of Education and Culture, then, the names and duties of SMEP turned into Junior High School (JSS) in 1979 with the Department of Education Office of SK reinforced by Prop. JABAR No. 030 / U / 1979 dated February 17, 1979. So viewed from duties and functions, the school becomes a public school whose job lead learners to high school, vocational school and school official.
