About Debbie
“You look like one of your paintings!” is a comment Debbie McCulley hears often. Her use of vibrant color and whimsical imagery is a reflection of McCulley and her outlook on life. “I choose to see the happy side of life and create art that makes people laugh, smile or think about the world in a different way.”
McCulley was born and raised in Montana, moving with her family to Spokane, Washington as a teenager. Debbie has always dabbled in art but it wasn’t until she took classes at The Spokane Art School that she decided to take her talent seriously. She gained invaluable knowledge from the instructors there and was encouraged to pursue her art career.
Debbie’s world of art invites us into her lighthearted perspective of life, mirroring our lives through frogs in martinis, birds morphing into wine or simply deriving pleasure and happiness with her powerful palette of color.
In the past few years, McCulley has found her stride. Her art has been exhibited at Art on the Green in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and in Spokane at Arbor Crest Cellar’s Art and Glass Show, The Chase Gallery and ArtFest. She is the creator of two local art shows, Art! On Broadway and Art At The Bluff. You can find Debbie throughout the year at numerous First Friday locations in downtown Spokane and you can always see her public art on utility boxes in downtown Coeur d’Alene!
