About ScreenOff On Tap
**By far the smallest screen lock app on the Play Store.**
Turn screen off using system shortcuts : long-press-home-button(a.k.a Assist), camera shortcut on the lock screen, dialer shortcut on the lock screen..
GREATLY increase the life of your phone's power button.
This is no ordinary screen off/lock app -
Features:
OFF ON TAP: [Android 6.0+]:
Replacement for Google Now on Tap Assistant - Long press Home button any time to turn screen off. Power button is accessible from within any app and with this feature, so is ScreenOff. To enable this - Go to Settings->Apps->Click on Settings on top right->Default Apps->Assist & Voice input->Select ScreenOff].
LOCK SCREEN SHORTCUTS[Android 4.0+]:
Use these to save a power-button-click when you turn your phone on to see those notifications.. or turning your wifi/bluetooth on/off.. or using the flashlight..
- Camera Action on Lock Screen - Swipe to open the camera on Lock screen. It will turn the screen Off.
- Dialler action on Lock Screen - Swipe to open Dialler on Lock Screen. It will turn the screen Off.
Note:
- Locking your screen using this, or any other app prevents the SmartUnlock to work the next time (just once) you unlock your phone. You will have to enter the pin. This is a limitation put in by Android and is being debated by the developer community here - https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79735#c110

CyanogenOS 12.1 (Android version 5.1.1) here. I simply set my Nova Launcher's double tap (or any other gestures that it supports) to run ScreenOff On Tap, and that will turn off the screen without having to press the Power button. This is a nifty utility, perhaps not something you would pay for as there are similar free apps around, but it serves a purpose & doesn't require any unnecessary permissions. One thing it could improve though, is to unload itself as soon as the screen is off.
