CritDice - Dice Roller for Android
The app is good layout wise and does what it advertises. So far so good. What bothers me is that it seems abandoned. I wrote twice to the support email address but no response. :( And the first try was months ago. Pity, the layout/usability is really good. EDIT1: Okay, thank you very much for the reply! Looking forward to it. :) Will definitely test drive then. EDIT2: You delivered! I bought the payed version now. Looks good so far. Will give more feedback after an evening at the table with friends. Thanks!
This dice roller is what I needed on the gaming table and aesthetically pleasing besides. It covers almost every base, especially in regards to DnD in evey edition, but there are some niche dice effects I need for other tabletop games I can't do. Primarily that it cannot count d10 10s as double instead of a re-roll, esp. not while already modified to accept 7s as successes. But it can be modified incredibly extensively otherwise! Generally fills every requirement I have for dice, I just have some specialty needs. Great intuitive design!
The most simple, flexible, and usable dice roller I've tried. Replaces the flash of 3D rendered physics dice of it's competition with the bang of a simple yet fully featured interface, including categorised favourites. Need to roll 4d20+fate and auto drop the lowest die? Easy. And save that to a favourite roll so it's just one tap later.
Like it enough to consider purchasing the ad-free key. My two peeves, and the reason I only gave 4 stars, have been mentioned by others: history wiped after closing the app, and having to tap twice--once to get the result, and once again to clear the result pop-up before I can roll again. If there were options to save the history, or at least that it will be still there when opening the app; and to be able to tap once to roll and see the result, without having to tap again to dismiss the pop up, that would be nice. The latter issue is the one that I feel is more important... I could live without a persistent history after each re-start. I love the clean, colorful look, and its small footprint and modest use of cpu. I don't need cgi dice. I only have Moto E 2nd gen, and the smaller and less processor-intensive the app, the better.
This is probably the best RPG dice app that I have ever used. I loved it so much that I paid for the premium version. This is where problems started. The premium version has all of the features that I would ever need, but I keep experiencing an error when booting the app up. About half of the time it fails to register that I have the premium version. I end up having to close and reboot the app multiple times for it to register. This app would be 5 stars easily if it weren't for this glitch.
I want to give this 4.5 stars because it's so good, but it just falls short on one minor aspect. I'd like to be able to make multiple dice rolls combined with the exploding and threshold variables so I can roll for multiple mooks in Only War and have it tell me how many successfully hit. Or even be able to combine a successful hit with the damage die in one click. With this I'd give it a straight 5 stars. By far the easiest and best die roller app I've used so far, so I paid for the full version.
This app is GREAT for wargaming, especially for games that require a lot of die rolling. Easy to use and a clean interface. The function that allows it to count successes automatically in the paid version is a huge time saver. Can't say enough good stuff about this app!
It is easy to use and does pretty much every thing you need it to do. It can an roll advantage disadvantage, 4d6 drop lowest, or reroll 1 or 2. I highly recommend this app if you need to do a ton of rolls quickly or are unable to roll dice at the moment.
I love this app. It is a solid dice roller that does everything I need it to do. I have one issue I would like to point out however: the roll history wipes itself clean each time I close the app. It's not a deal breaker; in fact I will likely get the paid version soon anyway. But it seems pointless to have a history log that doesn't at least give the option to save rolls. I'm going to purchase the paid version of this app soon, but in the future I'd like to see rolls in the log saved permanently. Thanks!
Doesn't support any game systems that I bought it for other than D&D. Since two special properties can't be combined (e. g. exploding dice and reroll 1s) I couldn't use it for l5r. Since it doesn't allow keep highest die with two different dice I can't use it for savageworlds either.
The favorite section is so helpful, I have one for every attack, power or spell. I use categories to class these. No more " I deal 4d6 + my level + my bonus + this feat + this stat ...". What would be great though it's the possibility to put categories in folders. Ex: Character/attacks/dice-roll
Does what it says and more. Drop the lowest, auto add an extra number, favorite a dice roll. (IE. 2d6+4) spits out the total, and bolds any high rolls. Pay a little for the app and get more advanced formulas. Totally worth it, and has a very clean UI.
Good clean app. I love the simple feel. Easy to access dice profiles for different games. Roll history. Only thing that's keeping it from replacing dicebag as my goto app is really advanced calculations. IE 4d6 drop the lowest and reroll 1s &2s. 4d6xr1r2
Simple, perfect design. The only thing missing is the actual rolling. It just shows a random number. Boring. It would be nice if it shows couple numbers to pretend the rolling. Still 5 stars since this is of course personal taste and the app is otherwise perfect.
The roll result popups are really annoying, and slows me down by needing another tap to close. Please disable them and show results without the popups like in favorites and history.
i swear 99% of dnd apps look and work like bug-ridden applications from the windows 95 era (especially on android). this one on the other hand has a simplistic beauty to it and works perfectly 10/10 would roll again
I want to make categories with sub categories, idk if this is an option in full version but if it isn't it should be, I could have all the Weapons ready, all the monsters and more (ie, monster>humanoid>goblinoid>bugbear>bugbear rolls)
This helped me out until I can buy a new dice set. I don't know if I will even bother now tho. This helped me play faster honestly I like this more. Tradition tho. Need dice set. But ill use this more anyway
I paid 3.99 to use advanced rules. Waste of money. Would it be that hard to let me add 2 or more rules at once, for example rolling a bunch of d6, re-rolling 1s, keeping 4s or greater? It's totally useless to me I was going to use it for 40k. Also the > button doesn't work at all when making favorite roll formulas. Hate it, would love to have that 3.99 back...
Hey, my friend this is a great app I bought the full version but, I'm not always connected to the internet. And when I launch the app it says There is an error. And it when I press ok it makes the app as if I need the full version. And when I connect to the internet, relaunch the app it works. Could you please fix that.
All the common dice you'd require, does so with speed. No custom value dice option that I could discern but it may be behind the paid version. Free options are plentiful, only withheld options are custom variable keys.
This is great! Just what I was looking for. My one complaint would be the inability to use advantage or disadvantage on rolls, but that's no big inconvenience because you can just roll twice. I love that you can use sound effects for natural 1's and 20's and save regularly used rolls to favorites and even in categories. Splendid.
I love the design and the organization / favorites system. The only reason I'm choosing another app over this one is the other also shows dice rolling (custom colors and materials too). If this one showed the visual of dice rolling and I could double tap or shake to roll I'd choose this.
Great app, but i would like to be able to link my favorites to my google account so i can import them to my tablet. Also, i bought the elite version on my phone but since it isn't linked to any kind of account, i do no have elite on my tablet. I think it is great, but some functions that could be added would be categories and subcategories in favorites. A specific character can be a category, then his stat and save rolles the next set down, then the actual dice roll below that. That would go a long way for organization, especially for running multiple characters or game types. Also, a roll function that only displays a result above a certain threshold. Roll 1d10, keep only rolls above a 5. So it rerolls automatically until it rolls over a 5. Also, an organizer would be good. Select a category or subcategory and habe an option called organize which gives you check boxes next to everything in that category. Items are rearranged in the order in which you check their boxes so we don't have tap move up a hundred times to get a roll higher to the top.
I really like the simplicity of the ui. However, there's always room for improvement and I do find it a tad lacking. If they added a bit more I'd give it a five star rating.
First off, you've got a great app there, congrats. Neat interface, smooth and fluid, very functional. best dice roller I've ever used, by far. I play most World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness, though, and the systems for those games (Storyteller and Storytelling) use a variable number of D10s for all rolls - i.e. the base rule is that the rolls don't "add up", each die that rolls 8, 9 or 10 is a success (10s generally being re-rolled) and you count successes. The setup in the app mostly works - you've got a list of individual die results - but is a bit suboptimal. It would be wonderful if you had a setting switch to make it so it doesn't display the total results, but only the individual ones, larger. Also, order them from lowest to highest and maybe use font styling to differentiate successes from failures (say, normal for failures and bold for successes). That would make scanning the results much faster and easier. Once again, thanks for the great app, keep up the good work. EDIT: Update added the functions requested. Yay! Thanks.
Good app. I would love to see a d0-9 die option or allow to do: d10-1<3 type rolls. If you put a modifier you can't do a count success.
Simple, fast, versatile. Doesn't have unnecessary features that slow things down and reduce battery life. Able to easily accommodate multiple dice of different types. After testing multiple dice rolling apps, this one is far and away the best I've tried. A must have.
This is in my opinion the only good dice rolling app in the play store. Clean, quick, easy to use. And I don't remember seeing any ads! If you're looking for a good app to play D&D, this is it.
Better than most but the pay-for options come included in other free rollers. The interface is clean and easy to use. The results screen requires extra clicking to clear, which is not necessary.
Good substitute for when you forget your set of dice, plus time+math saving features in the paid version. I may buy the paid version, but something I thought it did is allow you to combine things like drop lowest die and reroll ones on the same set, like rolling a bunch of d6s for ability scores
This does everything as described. I bought this for having a quick run through without any animation, but as a preference I like animated more. That being said I like this because it allows me to add sound on a specific roll, but I would also like for the sound to play when I roll, and not just on a certain number. Or to add 1to99 so the sound will play every time I roll. Playing Star Trek Attack Wing, and the sound would add a bit more in depth feeling. Thanks for reading. Edit...Wow! After testing the paid features it does everything I want to do. (I hope the sound request isn't a pain to do) Passing app info to all my gamer friends. Never thought I'd like this as much as animated, but it is Very Solid. Try and buy folks!
This is exactly what tabletop gamers, at least I, have been needing. It's simple, fast, and designed with a purpose. Uou can favorite certain types of dice rolls, and the sound effects are actually quite funny (but still optional). Dang near perfect.
The app is aesthetically simple and clean but still has everything I've needed at my fingertips for when it comes to rolling dice. My only issue has been my rolls: they are exceptionally poor in relation to the people I play with (even while using the same app). I think this is more of a me thing than anyone else (I've got the worst luck out there) and not the app, but it's just something I'd put out there.
While not the most amazing app, it serves its purpose. Unlike most dice roller apps I have used this one has a variety of dice available. If only for that alone I would recommend it.
I previously rated the app negatively due to full screen pop up ads. That has since been removed. Revisited things and I have to say it works quite well for its features. The only thing I don't like is how it doesn't clearly label premium only features for free use, instead letting you hit the roll button before popping up a "buy me" prompt. Otherwise it is a very simple and solid app for dice rolling with tons of features. But in my opinion the price is a bit much for its simplicity.
Exactly what I was looking for. I may be great at math, but rolling 10d8+40 for a disintegrate is still a pain. This app allows me to input what I need and get an answer instantly. I also normally roll really low almost all the time. App actually gives me high rolls on occassion!
Best simple dice roller I've come across. If you don't want gimmicky 3d effects and you just want to roll dice and create macros quickly, this is the app you need. More capable than similar apps available and better looking, too. Worth buying the full version, imo. There are only two features missing for me. 1) The ability to nest sub-categories, for example to have a category for my human rogue and my tiefling warlock, and then sub-categories under each for combat and skill checks. 2) The ability to roll a pool of dice and parse results as you choose. When I roll physical dice for D&D, it's my preference to roll attack and damage dice together. That way, if I hit, I already have my damage ready and the DM doesn't waste time asking me to make another roll. If I miss, I just ignore the damage dice. I would love it if Crit Dice could roll, say, a d20+5 and a d6+3 at the same time but separate the modified d20 result from the modified d6 result.
The app is very easy to use. It's also intuitive when setting up custom rolls. Want a custom roll for 16d3-12? The app doesn't judge, it supplies. The only things I'd be interested in seeing won't impact most players (I don't think): an option for multiplying after rolling and also an "exploding dice" feature. (Exploding dice: every time you roll a certain value on a die, you get to re-roll it and add both values to the total). The app is fine without these features.

The point of using a dice roller app is speed, and that is where this app shines. I can rollers multiple attacks and damage in seconds and total everything up. I actually liked this app enough to support the developer and paid for the premium version. It's great app and I highly recommend it. Easy to use, organize and even speaks the results Edit: I'll be on the look out for the fix. Thank you for making such a great product! I already bought it but if I hadn't I would have bought it now!
