WiFi Keyboard for Android
I have used this app for years and love it! I assign the widget to my home screen and can switch back and forth between swype and wifikeyboard. My only complaint is on my new phone (ZTE Blade X) the widget now takes up 2x2 for some odd reason so I had to put it on the second screen. Has this bug been reported? If that icon goes back to 1x1 i'll be sure to change this back to a five star! Super app though!
Really simple to set up and use! This app works wonderfully! Thanks for making it free! Can I say I love you? LOL! Suggestion: A Paid version includes a mouse pointer on the android device that can be controlled by either the keyboard arrow keys (hold CTRL+Arrow keys) or PC mouse. Not sure if its possible. :)
Been using this since 2012, so thought I'll be doing injustice if I don't write about this. This is definitely one of the must have apps if you spend more time working on computer and you want to reply very quickly long sentences ;-). Very helpful to share content from website, links, etc. Great work Ivan!!
Works great. I only wish there was a shortcut key to emulate the phone's home button (map to F5 maybe? instead of making it do the same thing as ESC), and a shortcut key to lock/unlock phone. Other than that, it's perfect.
Very good functionality, very ugly interface. At least change the status icon, having a red icon in notifications bar is very annoying, you always think something is wrong. if you want I can design an all-white status icon for your app for free.
Typing with it right now. Works perfect on PC. Currently typing using a wireless keyboard in my living room using a PS4. (Which unfortunately can't use arrow keys)
At first I was reallyk confused but I finnaly know how :). ONCE YOU TICK WIFI KEYBOARD: Try to make the keyboard come up. While it's up swipe down notifications tap choose input method Now choose WiFi keyboard :) Just wish Mouse was supported
I used to use 'ezKeyboard', but for some reason it doesn't work on my new phone. This app is much better, cause I can do the input/correction live on the phone. Very Nice Job!!!
No SSL support. Anything you type using this app can be sniffed over the local network. It's otherwise a no-fuss app that works perfectly, but you should probably pass this one up for something more secure.
Many friends are using an app called WeChat to chat and it's only available on mobile devices. There's a website version, but I don't want to scan QRcodes all the time to log in. I personally hate typing on Android and this solves the problem. GJ!
I wish I had even half the experience others posting on her have expressed. The use of the app is easy enough. But on my work machine, none of the solutions ended up with a usable keyboard. I suppose maybe this is not for people on work networks. As those URLs either just hang forever... Or yield a Google search. Sincerely wish it was another way.
Great tool for working on my phone without using the tiny onscreen keyboard. Get more screen space (no keyboard in the way) plus be able to touch type on a REAL keyboard. Great for sending texts (SMS) or using other interactive apps on the phone. I do wish you could "submit" from the keyboard (e.g. ctrl-enter) and interact with the home pages to select apps, etc.
A desktop client would be great for this amazing app. It will eliminate the hassle of command prompt adb and opening a web browser, plus more fuctionality indeed!
It shows connecting to addresses not defined as private network. The first time used was 192.168... which is for home or office use but the second time it was showing other addresses. It might be connecting to a specific server to log passwords etc. Anyway it seems suspicious unless explained publicly. "Remote Keyboard" is a useful alternative.
I was looking for something that could really speed up my text input. The on-screen input methods can work for a whole sentence or two, but not if you´re typing more than that. This app works, but it could use some improvements. Doesn´t work in FireFox, but it does work in Chrome, as mentioned in the brochures. Using copy-paste from the computer has a bad behavior. There are the text snippets that come across with no issue, and there are those that kill all the other previously imput text.
Works great for any typing intensive activity: programming, commenting, etc. My only gripe is that there isn't anything preventing someone on your local network controlling your phone, as there aren't any credentials required for access. I'd love to see an update with auth settings, but it's pretty cool as is.
Wow! Very impressed. I followed simple instructions and I'm now typing on my Android phone using my computer's keyboard. Don't know if there are bugs... but I'm very happy already.
Both the http option and the adb option works well. I am glad that is Open Source. I would be uncomfortable using this otherwise. Is it possible to add mouse support. Would be a nice feature.
Great ease of typing via laptop ......Those who face any difficulty in installation can check the app video on YouTube. ..that would make it easy.
Oh so simple. IT JUST WORKS!! Perfect for expert users who are burned out on other remote apps (buggy, complex, "just 15 more steps, plus install this, then configure that, except/unless this").
I would love to give this app full stars however I am experiencing some issues: * Very cumbersome to switch back and forth between keyboards, it maybe this is an issue with what Google allows you to do.. * Hi-latency on my Note4 - and since there are no diagnostics and latency fluctuates it is unclear what the cause of this issue is.. Will try using USB. I will be happy to give this a higher rating once these issues have been addressed.
Good job done. Do not press F4 before opening the text file in android. You may lose contents. IE is also somewhat supported. Google chrome is fine. IPv6 address doesn't work. But now my money that I spent for purchasing Bluetooth keyboard are wasted as I shall not use it anymore.
The idea is novel and the app solves the major inconvenience of using the tiny on-screen mobile keyboard. Installing the mobile app and following the instructions is overwhelming and seems like a project on its own. I like the simplicity of installing and using "Pasta: PC copy, mobile paste." I would recommend it over this app.
5 star, using it since android 2.3, but i think this can still improve by let us choose which one is the default address show in the notification bar so we don't have to click in the app to check the correct IP
Love Droidmote on my Nexus Player but have you ever been annoyed to no end by a minor missing feature? In this case, it's being able to paste things like stream links into apps that don't open as default with such links. WiFi Keyboard is tiny and requires not yet another extra app on the client side. Pastes things just great and works with 1 keyboard Droidmote and a few other apps don't(I blame the keyboard app as others are fine, but still a bonus it works). Just 1 request: Mark Nexus Player as compatible so I won't have to side load again for any updates. I face no issues with the app and as a bonus, the stupid leanback keyboard isn't popping up every time I click something and Droidmote still works fine with this as default. So this is my new default keyboard for NP.
Wow. Very impressed - nearly instantaneous response, works exceptionally well! The computer interface could use some sprucing up, but I love it. :) Yeah, I really can't stand normal, one-finger typing. /So/ glad I found this app!
The app works pretty well when it connects. However, on both my desktop and laptop, it no longer worked after around 20 minutes. Unfortunately, there are no settings in the app to change the ip address or ports to try debugging it. I've tried uninstalling, erasing the data, deleting the cache, but it keeps choosing the same IP Address and Port which doesn't work.
This program works very well. As a touch-typist, I much prefer using a keyboard to type text messages than my thumbs on a screen, and this fixes that usability issue for me.
Just follow the instructions. And very easy to connect. made a batch file for connecting through USB. Just have to connect the phone to laptop and open the created batch file.. Done. Stay typing
I was thinking about an app like this and your app was already made! Well done! Now it's a matter of a confirm button setting on your PC keyboard to send out what you typed.
Time saving, accurate and so helpful .. Thanks!!!
This app helped me immensely and saved my thumbs as I deliver messages to my Christian groups online and on Instapray. God bless you!
And i am willing to pay for it.
Wonderful App works perfectly highly recommended if you problems with your touch screen
Been using it for a while. Does its job. Those complaining about WhatsApp - go to chat options in WhatsApp and check "Enter is send" box. Pfft.
You can also use this to basically share a bluetooth keyboard from one Android tablet to another, so you can use the second tablet as an additional screen for browsing documentation or whatever, without requiring another keyboard.
Yes, really.
Works perfectly. I honestly did not expect the international keys to work, but they do -- flawlessly. Even text selection and editing is supported. Just realized there is an "edit locally & submit" mode for those who get disoriented when the text is not visible in the browser. Try that one, if you cannot resist the urge to look at the monitor.
I recently had to repopulate a database contained on my phone. Typing on the phone's keyboard is never as fast as touch-typing on a conventional keyboard. You saved me HOURS of input time! Setup was easy and the response time is nice and fast. This was exactly what I needed. Thank you!

I love the app. There is however just one little thing that would make it perfect! When you're connected to the wifi keyboard as the input device, and let's say you move away from your desk for a few minutes, with your device, then you have to switch back to the normal on-screen keyboard. It would be great if this keyboard had that built in too, so you would have the option to input from there. Hybrid. WDYT?
