About vSphere Mobile Watchlist

vSphere Mobile Watchlist enables secure vSphere infrastructure monitoring and remediation directly from your smartphone. With Watchlist, VMware administrators will be able to log in to a vCenter Server or ESXi host directly and choose virtual machines and hosts from inventory to create targeted views of objects and their properties. Remediate directly from the device with power and management operations, and delegation of tasks to onsite colleagues with linked relevant Knowledge Base (KB) articles.

vSphere Mobile Watchlist brings the following key capabilities to vSphere administrators on the go:

EASILY CREATE WATCHLISTS: Search for and select a subset of VMs and hosts from your VMware vCenter Server and/or ESXi inventory to monitor in one or multiple watchlists.

VMs and HOSTS AT A GLANCE: Review the status of selected Watchlist VMs and hosts from your device including state, configuration details, resource usage, health alerts, view of the VM console, and related objects.

DISCOVER: Alerts are linked to pertinent diagnostic information from the VMware Knowledge Base, as well as articles from the Web.

REMEDIATE REMOTELY: Remediate problems directly from the device by powering on/off, resuming/suspending, connecting/disconnecting, or restarting VMs and/or hosts — or for situations where on-site remediation is required, share alert(s) along with recommended solutions in an email to team members back at the datacenter.

vSphere Mobile Watchlist is compatible with Android 4+.

NOTE: A VMware vSphere installation (5.0 and above) is required to use VMware vSphere Mobile Watchlist. Access to vSphere infrastructure may require a secure access method such as VPN on a mobile device. Contact your IT department for further assistance.

Support and tips for using VMware vSphere Mobile Watchlist are provided via VMware Communities at http://www.vmware.com/go/vspheremobile

Please note that support for vSphere Mobile Watchlist is not available through VMware’s telephone support hotline or Global Support Services.

Works great on my Pixel! Easy way to quickly monitor everything.

Finally its working again.... Awesome

I love VMware's dedication to the products, however their Android team should REALLY focus on a new App, a lot of Pro's out there are using portable devices to control vSphere. If you don't have plans for immediate updating at least kill the app until further notice.

by S####:

The bar graphs for VM performance aren't working on ESXi 6.x hosts. CPU and RAM show 0 and storage shows an incorrect value. Detailed historical graphs work, though. Also can't right-click in console. Decent app for quick information, though.

by S####:

WAS a brilliant app, but does not currently support android 6x. As other users have already mentioned, as soon as one tries to perform an action on a VM such as a reboot or even trying to power on a VM results in app crashing. Please VMware, extend support for android 6 and newer, then this app can easily be rated 4.5 star!

by F####:

Since updating my mobile to the latest OS the ability to perform and restart functions from within the app have broken. This was a great app but a new version is required urgently so it works on all the latest devices again.

M70%
by M####:

The most I can do is view information about the esxi host and the virtual machines. Managing snapshots is a hit or miss and the app crashes if I try anything else (e.g. Power cycle VM)

S70%
by S####:

Excellent app for Android < 6.0. After Marshmellow, the app crashes as soon as you try do do any power actions. Extremely dissapointing and not what I would expect from VMWare!

Amazing everything now works on Galaxy Edge 7. Powering, remote console very happy thought this was dead in the water but now can monitor my Esxi 6.5 server in the loft easily

At last. Soooo long time to fix the power bug. Wake up Dell people use tablets and android phones to do monitor their infrastructure on the go.

K70%

Console keeps saying disconnecting and errors out before it even connects. This feature is completely unusable! Galaxy S8+

Y70%
by Y####:

Well shiver my timber, they've only gone and got it working again after 3 Android major releases have come and gone.

by S####:

Useful app for quick VM management. Another excellent product from VMware. One suggestion would be the ability to see which machines are powered on in the machine list under Related Objects / Virtual Macines. Currently have to dig into each machine to see its power state

B70%
by B####:

Latest update still doesn't allow connection to console. Crashes every time you connect.

S70%

App crashes on click start/shutdown button

Getting 'No peer certificate' when connecting via localhost port forward. Need to be able to trust all certificates again. Works well otherwise

S70%

Amazing!!! Thank you. Quick and easy to use and saves time and provides remote access to VM !!!!! Love it

S70%

Yay! Works great again. PixelXL.

S70%

Pixel will not connect but can reach in browser. Allow SSC for clients

Finally VMWare.... Only took a year to fix but well done for finally getting it done

Z70%
by Z####:

Great app, but the console is broken at the moment. Just says to close the error window and try again. Fix this one? Happens with every VM.

S70%
by S####:

VM actions (Power On/Off, Restart Guest OS, etc.) cause the app to crash on Android 6.0 on my Nexus 6p. All of the read-only information is nice, though.

S70%
by S####:

Appears to mostly work in Android 6. Whenever I try to shutdown/reboot a host or VM remotely the app crashes. How is this still not compatible with Marshmallow?! C'mon VMware!

O70%
by O####:

I have been waiting for a long time for an update to the app...but seems like its not coming. Meanwhile i am forced to find alternative solutions for remote management. Shame

U70%
by U####:

While start, stop or reset app crashes on marshmallow. Would be great feature if this works

S70%
by S####:

The major and only flaw right now is that the app force closes every time you attempt to change the power state of a VM. I can't turn things on or off, or restart them. At least the remote console works. That's the only thing this app has going for itself. The most frustrating part is this app is the only app that even offers CONTROL of the VM's as a main feature (YET IT DOESNT EVEN WORK!!!) One star for a functioning status checker, plus one more star for a working remote console.

L70%
by L####:

App was great until lollipop, just got the update from HTC now app crashes as soon as I click on shutdown.

S70%
by S####:

Seems to be a good app but it keeps crashing when I try to send commands to the host. Can't reboot or shutdown etc. Running on LG g4 and Android 6.1

R70%
by R####:

Worked great for a while but since upgrading to latest android (6...) it crashes constantly when trying to power on vm

S70%
by S####:

And nobody ad VMware wants to talk about it. Crashes when stopping, rebooting or starting a VM. Won't bring up console.

S70%
by S####:

Executing actions on the VMs (e.g. shut-down, reboot, etc.) causes the app to crash, which makes the app pretty useless.
