To be honest this is a real good app.. alittle slow on connectivity.. BUT I found the solution... Connect your Vizio TV with Ethernet cable instead of wifi... I realized that the display work more efficient when not connected thru wifi. Dispite my internet being over 70 mb/s download speed.

The main benefit I see of this app is to make sure my soundbar is connected to the internet for updates. It took me several tries over the past month to get it right because it connecting to the soundbar and then to the internet just never seemed to work quite right. then either through an app update or me actually understanding the directions correctly, it worked. Very little to do with the app otherwise without a TV enabled for it, but it's a decent effort.

I bought the TV that has Smartcast, the sound bar with Smartcast and two Vizio Smart Cast speakers and they WILL NOT WORK TOGETHER! Why make products that you can't even use together? Very disappointed in the app and Vizio

I've spent hours on multiple devices trying to pair my soundbar with this app after having connectivity issues. This app won't find my Wi-Fi on step 3 and continues to freeze at the Terms and Conditions page... on all 3 phones.

This app sucks. It will not stay paired to the TV. It just sits there and does nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. It works the first time then nothing after. Same result after each reinstall, works once and that's it. What a piece of garbage. Definitely thinking about returning the TV because without the app you can't control picture or any other settings.

Not sure if it is an app issue or a TV issue, but the first time I go to cast something it always says the connection to the Internet is lost. Even though I can run the test and it says it is connected, my router says it is connected.... I have to repeat the I initial setup every time I want to watch netflix.

Worst app and tv. In less than 2 months 2 70inch vizio tvs have failed and been replaced under warranty I'm on my 3rd tv. Didn't get to use app on first tv. Last 2 tv's have connection issues. My wifi works great on all my other devices with fast uninterrupted connection. Definitely not a wifi issue. My model does not come with a vizio tablet remote. I have to use my own tablet or tv. I have tried multiple devices and this app always has connection issues. Tried uninstalling and reinstalled still same issue.

When it connects to the wifi, it works well enough. I've been having trouble keeping it connected. I have to set up the device rack time I want to use it and sometimes I can't set it up at all. It won't even connect via Bluetooth.

I love my P Series tv. The tablet is mediocre at best, app is OK for those using alternative services, ie. Netflix, Hulu, etc. Really unusable for any thing else. Don't expect this to be an universal remote. Expect to have to make another purchase of another remote if you have a setup like mine. Xfinity, Roku, PC, BOSE, AMAZON Prime. Too bad, they had a chance to do something special and missed.

I will never buy another Vizio product again. Thank goodness I only bought a cheap soundbar and not expensive TV. The app almost never connects to the device without constant headaches. There is nothing like wanting to make a small adjustment to the settings and having to spend 30 minutes troubleshooting why it won't connect. If you plan on spending big bucks for a TV then have to rely on this garbage I'd highly suggest you look elsewhere. If it's too late and you've bought one I'd suggest returning it if you're in the return window. Otherwise hope Vizio makes some groundbreaking improvement on this rubbish.

The app seems to receive a lot more bitching than it deserves. Overall it is an OK app to setup the TV, and the remote that comes with the TV is adequate since we primarily use the TV with DirecTV and DTV remote. Future updates to the app will surely correct some early deficiencies. However, once setup, you can use any cast enabled app instead of the VIZIOcast app to cast your content if you don't like the VIZIOcast interface. The supplied remote with the TV does not have a menu button because the TV does not have an inherent onscreen setup menu like what is in the app to setup color, time, network, etc. But the app was easy to connect to the TV via wifi, and complete the setup the way I wanted. The wifi connection seems to be stable. I didn't try the bluetooth setup. Now that I've got it setup with the picture I want, I'll just use the DirecTV remote. The continues to improve and the firmware as well. Good TV. I have found it much faster to update the TV firmware by downloading the latest version to a USB memory stick and inserting it into the USB port of the TV instead of updating over wifi.

App works as intended. Took a while to connect but I would say people who have connecting issues have crappy wifi. The only issue I have is that the sound is universal on all inputs. My previous Sharp allowed for the sound to be individual on each input. My main audio is on TV but when I change inputs the sounds comes off the mute and I start hearing echos. Don't buy into the negative reviews, app works great and is fast at casting than previous standalone chromecast.

A tech geek. Only connects to Vizio sound bar when I reboot everything. Sooo annoying. If I want to connect and play a song I have to restart sound bar and my phone. Takes 10 minutes! Not easy. I love Google but this kills their reputation. Take vcast and chromeshare or Google home off the market till it works.

I like it. Casting is very cool. I like that it combines several services when looking for a movie. Then shows me all the services that provide the movie or TV show. And then I can pick which one I want to use. I think the people complaining about the app simply don't know how to use it and what it is really for.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. The TV came with a tablet and I also downloaded it on my Samsung Galaxy 6 and haven't had any problems at all. Connected just fine to the TV AND SoundBar.

I think people are blaming the app instead of the Smartcast TV. The app is just the remote; the issue is connectivity with the TV and how it drops the cast about 30sec into casting. Can't watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc. So I'm pretty sure if you've downloaded the app you have some router of device with built-in SmartCast. Just hope whoever you bought your TV, soundbar, etc from has a good return policy. I'll never buy another Vizio product again.

Worst application ever. In an ideal world everything works well, but we dont live in the fantasy land some reviewers posted. This TV just stinks. It loses connection all the time and wont pair again. Ive spent the last hour trying to get it to reconnect but only with complete failure. This is the third time this has happened since i bought it. Visio is complete trash. Im headed back to best buy and gabbing a Samsung. Dont be foolish and buy this tv and try using this app.

I hate how it does not ask for a security pin to transfer the data from the phone/ additional smart device to the TV. My kids have changed what I'm watching in the middle of what I'm watching. This is a huge inconvenience that needs to be fixed. The streaming between the phone and TV overall is good, but a lot of work is needed to make it better. Also is if you pair only 2 specific devices to the TV, this app shares to your other devices.

Worst idea to setup a TV, ever. This app is a huge pile of junk, but unfortunately you have no other choice in setting up your new Vizio TV. Every time you turn the TV off, there's a good chance you'll have to pair the app to the TV again when you turn it back on, which is a headache of its own. I've easily spent 20 minutes trying to connect to my Wi-Fi network in Step 3 with no luck of the TV connecting as well to do a successful pair. Keep this in mind and be prepared for frustration. Do yourself a favor and return your Vizio and get another brand of TV.

This app is absolute garbage, my family bought this tv for 1,600$ and even with our unlimited wifi, the connection kept getting lost. The tablet could not even cast to the tv most of the time... i strongly suggest either not buying these types of tv's or returning it

Works best with a direct connection and not wi-fi. Use individual apps like VUDU, Netflix, YouTube for best results. If you lose wi-fi often, it's likely a router or weak signal issue..

It is crap!! It does not connect most of the time!! It keeps telling me network lost when the WiFi is perfectly fine!! I always run the speed test and everything is fine. Why do you make us use the stupid app to control the TV!!!

It would probably be best if Vizio just came out with a service remote for these TVs. That way you can overcharge on the remote and maybe afford to dedicate some funds to quality development.....

The speaker interface is strange and does not reliably allow to be cast too. It also doesn't inform you when the unit is upgrading its firmware which may be the source of some of the problems.

So far I have been mostly pleasantly surprised by the app apart from some hiccups during the initial setup process. Casting works without a hitch and power, volume and input controls through the app work perfectly (these also flow over HDMI CEC to/from other components). Having picture settings in app is also a great idea as it allows you to tweak picture settings without any overlay on the picture. That being said the initial setup process UX could do a better job of letting you know that is is working on something for while and not stuck. It's not bad but for less tech savvy users I can see how there could be some frustration, especially if on a bad WiFi connection. Certainly it is a much better app than Sony's Songpal.

Trading former remote functions for the new app was a horrible choice. VIZIO tvs limited to the app no longer have the basic ability to navigate USB content. App has some great options for streaming/downloadable content but not being able to choose which video to play or navigate when loading a single file, makes this app a loser. VIZIO, PLEASE fix this simple issue!

Horrible, don't buy a Vizio tv that requires Smartcast. Worked for about a month then started randomly disconnecting a few times, now it does it 30 sec into casting. We have more than enough Internet speed and have no problem streaming Netflix, etc. on any of our other 3 Samsung tvs, laptops, tablets or phones...just this junk of a TV!!! Only reason we bought this is they didn't have a Samsung out of stock...should have waited!

I'm not sure why everyone is complaining so much about this app. If you have a new vizio TV why are you using your phone instead of the tablet to run the TV? I have zero issues casting anything to my TV. It never disconnects it never shuts down etc. Does everyone realize that if you want to cast something besides Netflix from the tablet to the TV like whatever is on the screen you have to use Google home? I have the new p65 and have zero issues with anything. Anyone who is having all these issues obviously isn't using the program or tablet correctly

This is a terrible app that turns a mediocre TV into a non-functioning piece of junk. Before you buy a Vizio TV, remember that this app is your only way to control it and it doesn't work most of the time. Beware the flood of Vizio employees posting above.

I have never despised anything so much on my life. And Vizio CS is inept and arrogant. The latest update makes it IMPOSSIBLE to cast ANYTHING. After I paid for movies to watch on Vudu, all I get is the blue screen. Cannot even see rotating pics. Vizio SUCKS!!!

Continuously loses pairing with the target device, constantly having to pair and re-input. Notification area controls work intermittently and almost never. The guys who built this app could mess up boiling water. 'Device no longer detected' @$#&*! YOU!!! Your stupid TV is responding to pings but not the app!
