About VidAnalysis free

Are you tired of having poor measuring instruments in physics lessons? Then this is the right thing for you!
VidAnalysis is a multipurpose tool: In this app measurement, physics and the actual math behind it are combined. For example you can film the free fall of a small ball or a pendulum experiment with the camera of your smartphone or tablet. Next you analyze the video by marking the object you want the motion to be tracked in every frame of the video. With this information the app creates a time-x-distance-, time-y-distance-, x-distance-y-distance-diagram and adds all values to a list. You can also add your own function to the measured values into the diagrams.
Isn't that cool?

Summarized: With this app you can
- organize your videos for analysis
- choose measuring points for analysis
- set an absolute length as reference to reality
- set an coordinate system and even rotate it
- correct your chosen points in analysis
- display three diagrams, where you can add an function as a model
- display the list of all measured values
- share and save this list as CSV file

I would give it no stars if I could! It sucks! Can't zoom in to select data points, not nearly as good as the Apple version. I already rated it 1 star and it keeps saying 'Please rate me.' Don't install! Beware!

G70%
by G####:

Too hard to align points of scale, once they're down you can't move them, have to go back to the beginning and start over. Nice idea, too many problems

Q70%
by Q####:

Easy and works well

Z70%
by Z####:

I tried using this app to analyze the free fall of a ball (like suggested in the description!), but the inaccuracy of the taps to track an object make it difficult to use and inaccurate.

U70%
by U####:

Hard to use. Can't figure out what to do at each step. Where is the graph?

Q70%
by Q####:

Great idea but way too buggy to use in the classroom. More info on how to use curve fitting would be helpful.

E70%
by E####:

Buggier than an entomological display.

It works well

Q70%

I think it should be more user friendly

Good App

Q70%

I liked this free version so much that i had to get the paid version (loving that one also). Thank you so much! This was a MUCH-needed app for anyone who has to measure distance vs time and do the math. I have had some occasional semi-crashes, but the app seems to recover and let me continue working without losing anything. Perhaps the databases are well designed.

Q70%
by Q####:

It's a great idea, but the tracking is appalling, you really have to click on the object you want to track IN EVERY FRAME. In the apple equiv you just pick the object once and it follows. (I'm pro Android)

This app was terrible.

While it is a good idea, it is very buggy and crashes many times. Video freezes when going frame by frame and during play back. Otherwise 4 stars. Please Fix!

Good to use in the classroom. Thanks

Only played with it a bit but has all the makings of a brilliant app. Would be nice to see an acceleration graph too.

Thankfully I can say, I have been helping to inspire the author to do this great work. Very useful for my teaching!

Was keen to find an Android equivalent to Vernier Video Physics (an iOS paid for app). Two weeks ago, this wasn't it, but the developer listened to suggestions and now it's great. I think it will be even better in the future. Sincere thanks to the developer.

Currently at the GIREP-EPEC physics teaching conference, where Gerhard Rath is showing us how to use this app. Looking forward to use it more!

Worked well in test drop right after download. But am sometimes left hanging with incomplete instructions. But not bad at all. Can definitely use in the classroom.

This doesn't have all the features of other video analysis tools, but it is simple and effective. I'm excited to use it in my physics class.
