Flash Meter for Android
I think I must have tried out all the other light/flash meters, this appears to be the only one that actually works with flash metering. For those who aren't registering any flash I think you need to just simply up your flash output until you start getting results. I noticed that lower powers like 1/64th weren't registering at base Iso's, but if i upped to 1/16 and/or increased iso it works fine.
Just an ambient light app
Just an ambient light app
For Flash, if this worked it would be really good but I am afraid it does not. I suspect the hardware is just not up to it. Firstly it does not detect a flash power of less than 5.6 @ iso 100. Second I put the flash up one stop and the reading went from 5.7 to 16. I am using an S3 and the app users the front camera.
Seems that my Samsung S3 mini screen is smaller than the app. Pity..
What does ". 2" or whater aperture mean? I am used to something like 2.8 or 5.6?
Trying to get the cordless flash to work but no go. I set it in ready mode flash the lamp and nothing happens. poor documentation, is there anything any where that actually tells you how the tuning actually works??
Possibly the only smartphone app to date that does flash metering. Thank you, Mr. Developer...you saved me time and alot of money. Although I may still slowly save up for one of the expensive flash meter units, this app still rocks and I'll still continue to use it!!
I've looked at all the apps on Android for this. What I need is to measure the output of my flash. Seems anything under 1/4 power does not register. I have a Galaxy S3. Not sure if it's because the sensor is not powerfull enough or if it's a coding issue. Sure wish this app would work a tiny bit better because it would save me from spending the $250-$300 to buy a real light meter and it would be one less thing in my camera bag... I still give it 4 stars though simply because it is the only app that does this.
Although i have a digital camera, it weights in at more than 10kg for the hole kit and it whas to expensive to take for skiing and such so i wanted to take my film camera but the metering dosn't work on it... (and if it whould of work it's still a darn old zenit em so it wouldn't of been to unreliable ), this in any case gives me beter meetering for diferent situations than even a good camera Thanks againe !
Just an ambient light app
Tried with studio lights but only seemed to work a meter in front and the f was too low. Maybe not designed for the phone.
Let's be honest, the big attraction is flash metering. As others have already said, it really only works with flash powers of 1/4 and up, and then only at very close range. And "works" is a generous term because, while the app DOES give an aperture reading, the values result in drastically over-exposed photos. We're all trying to save $200+ on a flash meter, but this isn't the answer.
Can you make this work on the new s4 as the hardware should be compatible. All seems ok apart from the flash metering. But great looking app
Brilliant app. Saved me loads on having to buy a flash meter. My only comment is that it would be nice to set which metering you want as default.
Ambient works but flash just stays at rdy and does not register
Flash meter works but at high powers such as 1/4 power and above. Wished it would show aperture in 1/3rd stops instead of full stops. Great app though
Doesn't read flash at all
Works perfectly with my Note2.
