vEyes Vocal Text Reader

vEyes Vocal Text Reader is an application designed to give to blind and partially sighted people the ability to have "virtual eyes" that can recognize printed text through the camera of your Android device and make it accessible via speech synthesis. The application also allows you to save the text for later reference and send it through the main communication channels .

The application is part of a larger project, called vEyes, which aims is to improve the quality of life of people with impaired vision by offering solutions based on modern tools available today. Details on www.veyes.it

Main features of the application vEyes Vocal Text Reader:

• Instructions and vocal feedback for every action performed within the application;
• Changing speech synthesis's speed and pitch;
• Storing scanned documents;
• Opening stored documents calling them by their name;
• Sending documents via SMS, WhatsApp and email.

For devices with system language set to a value different from Italian, application is set to English (including the functions of recognition of English texts).

Please note: the app is still in beta, but was released in version 1.0 to allow the tests to a wider community. Reports of anomalies, suggested improvements, indicating the type of problem which may occur or the proposed improvement , the used device and the version of Android of this device, may be sent to salfi@dmi.unict.it.
