Bowflex SelectTech for Android
I love the idea of this app but I can't get it to work right. As soon as an exercise begins it tells me to hold still till I hear a beep. I do that and then it just keeps giving me a retry. I got frustrated and just put the weight on the floor not moving till the beep and it still won't register. Very frustrating.
On the Back Attack work out the app doesn't allow for alternating arms on the supported bent over row and the cross clean it just bugs out after 3 reps. Other than that it is sort of cool. Fix that and I'll gladly rate it higher.
Music shuts off when you start a workout. Music shuts off every time a new exercise begins. Alert to start stop repetitions is waaaay to quiet. Always miss the alerts. Love bowflex equipment. Have the 1090s and the max trainer M5. Great tools....horrible apps =( BOWFLEX quit letting other apps get customers you deserve. We have invested in you equipment let us invest in your apps as well. I sincerely hope you guys fix issues keeping people away.
For 552s: Thanks, nice list of exercises, albeit with discrepancies between text descriptions and videos. It would be more convenient if it saved your exercise list position instead of scrolling back to the top of the list after viewing the details for a specific exercise.
App has Lots of Potential but needs the ability to use offset weight which I use with both my 552s and 1060s. Also, you cannot see past workout details and have to keep up with previous workout weight.
Pros: * I really like the discipline enforced by having the workout timed and tracked. * The built-in demo videos are very helpful for less familiar exercises. * Nice set of workout routines built-in. Cons: * Program prescribes number of reps, rather than allowing 'to failure.' * Custom programs force three sets of each exercise. Want a full body workout with one set per exercise? Nope. 5x5's? Nope. Three sets of ten: that's what you get to program. * For alternating arm exercises (e.g., one-arm row) or alternating leg exercises (lunges), the program doesn't allow for repeating on the alternate side. * Doesn't allow you to listen to music on the same device. * Only tracks total weight lifted. No record of weight used for a given exercises. Did I use 20 or 30 lbs on last week's lunges? That information is lost.
I bought the blue tooth weights. Total waste of money. I wish I had just bought the regular ones which are almost half the price and do the same thing. The Bluetooth is very difficult to connect and I have never successfully connected them. I do love the weights and the work outs. The videos in the app are not long enough or slow enough. The person in the videos moves to quick and the video is over before you can see what they did. Maybe on some of the workouts you can repeat the motion more than 1 time. I don't like when you play the video which doesn't have Sound it stops my music playing on my phone. I also don't like in the six week challenge when you go from one workout to another the app default send you back to week 1 work out 1. It would be great if you can fix it to hold my place. Overall I'm generally happy I just wish I hadn't spent an extra 300.00 on this nonsense blue tooth set.
Like the concept of the app seems to work fine with Google Fit but 1 glaring problem... Can't listen to my music while using the app... That pretty much puts an end to using the app while working out... I'll give it a 5 when music can be played
UPDATE: now that ive been using this for a few months can only say better things about it. The ability to create your own workouts by simply arranging the MANY options available is just great. ORIGINAL: Awesome. I was looking for an app that had videos right after i purchased these bowflex dumbells just for dumbells and couldn't find anything worth it. I didn't think to look for bowflex! Great. Now where are the forearm workouts??? :-)
I think it's a good app but It doesn't work on my tablet. Why is that?
Crazy for keeps freezing on burpees
Really helpful app.
Installed it, used once. wont use again. It doesnt trak heart rate, too quet to alert you that ex. is done and has a preset pace that is too fast. Get Wahoo or Bodyspace! Im on to p90x!
It's working again for 1090..thanks
This app is nearly unusable. I can't get past jumping jacks without it crashing. Makes doing the 6 week challenge a real... challenge. Now it won't even let me run custom workouts without connecting a Bluetooth weight device (I don't have that version). Constantly spams me to request Bluetooth access. As an experienced developer myself, I can tell you that untalented or inexperienced individuals are working on this. This should've been an easy job. UX deserves props though. Very intuitive interface.
VERY LIMITED and BUGGY. Try as I might I can't do 21s using this device. Since they require three different motions and the device appears to handle only a one-two stroke motion, it does not support a basic dumbbell exercise like 21s. I have yet to succeed in doing shoulder shrugs either with this device. The range of motion required to do one could be too small for sensor to pick up on. UPDATED: today the app won't even detect that the dumbbells are in the "ready" position when it is in "Just Lift" mode. I tried holding them and leaving them on the floor and the app says they are not being held without interfering motion ("hold still" indicator screen is displayed always.)
I just bought $1400 worth select rech weights and this is the free app they tell me I'm getting. What a joke. It is for some kind of dumbells with a sensor that I have never heard of or seen before. Why do you advertise a app that doesn't work with what I bought or at least have a mode for the products I purchased. This should be a really simple and informative to use app if it is configured for the regular 552 and 1090 dumbells.
I like them. Some room for growth would be the base. Very light weight plastic that already cracked on me. Other than that the select tech weight variation is smooth and well engineered. App seems great! Have you guys considered a social media ad giveaway? Could be great, i know id be up for it if concept was a clever one. Top of my head hike with dumbells somewhere and whom ever submits the best image of old ones or new ones gets a nautilus product? Cool mt shots, cityscape doing curls ect.
Can you guys give us something for the 1080 select tech weights for Android. Not everyone has or wants an iPhone. Thanks.
It gives one a starting point to begin strength training. It also gives variations of some of the exercises. Once you begin training you'll see other exercises you can do
Awsome
I have been using the app since January religiously every other day, completing 3 six week challenges. I was able to advance the workout manually until the 5/23/2016 update. Now it's almost useless unless I want to scroll forward to the next workout and the next. Had great results in the first 18 weeks, why not offer a manual option for the rest of us who have the 1090s and 552s?

Would like the option to enter weight and sets manually as I have an older version of the weights
So android users that purchased the 1090 selecttech are out of luck for apps to use??? Even my bowflex magazine says " in weight training form is everything use the new Bowflex free app with your Bowflex selecttech dumbbells. Pick your selecttech model and download your app" lol so buying the more expensive set gets you nothing??? Makes no sense! Come on bowflex make an app we can use for regular training for ANDROID! Cross platform people..
Lots of good exercises in this app. Provides good descriptions and video demonstrations of each. Even without the Bowflex dumbbells, this app has value.
Nice app recommend for anyone

The application does not have a way to track previous weight lifted, sets or repetitions, so you can keep detailed track of your progress.THIS would allow you to easily start your weight program without figuring out where u left off or writing it down for each exercise. This feature is a very, very basic feature and should have been included.Because it was not l give the application 3 stars.I also purchased 552 weights and now must look for another suitable application to use as a workout log. If this is corrected I can use 1 application. The plus is that it is not loaded with ads and easy to use. Will this feature ever be included?
