MediaMonkey Pro for Android
Trying to play any playlist causes FC. ======= Good but in last update Bluetooth remote stopped working. Remote still works in other media playing apps. MM equaliser is buggy, but all equalisers on Note 3 are buggy.
Invested in the pro version. Right off the bat I had an issue with my license key. Email support line 5 times. It's been over 2 weeks and still no update or answer from them. The product may be good not sure yet but support sucks. Don't download it or invest in it
I like the app except for an album art issue. I am completely baffled as to why it displays sometimes and not others. For example, the album art might display properly under albums but that same album art might not display under individual tracks. Not sure if it's a player issue or app issue. But it does display properly using different app on same player. Any suggestions?
I really love the WiFi sync option available with the purchased Pro upgrade, but if the media player can't remember where all the media is stored over the course of 1 day then it's useless. I don't want to run a battery-draining (and time-wasting) refresh of the library I just want the damn thing to know where it already put the music that it synced last night. Worked fine all morning, now I have an empty media player. Again. I just want to listen to some music. Why is this so hard?
Even with upgrading to the pro version, the software looses the wi fi connection to the audio renderer after two or three songs have played, or it simply stops playing the song mid file, for no apparent reason. Barely functional !
Samsung S6 Active, latest Android version. I like the app but it continues to drain battery when stopped. A "force stop" is one way to make it stop draining battery but shouldn't have to do that. It did this on previous versions of Android also, not just my current version.
Syncing music shouldn't be equatable to getting teeth pulled. After usb sync was continually failing, support told me to use wifi sync. Nuked my library and started over, spent 9 hours syncing fresh and now each additional sync brings around 2000 duplicates, and yet fails to sync metadata back to the server. Ridiculous waste of time.
I could not get Media Monkey to sync with my HTC One. Impossible to see how to select which music to sync, those selection boxes in Android sync settings didn't do anything. Have spent way too long to try to get something to work. I've given up, and have moved to double-twist, which worked right away.
Useless! =( The desktop version is so great & does everything I need it to. So when the mobile app came out, I purchased it just like the desktop version. Little did I know that it would be this useless. The app will not add any music to my library, no matter how many times I tell it to add, or search the library for updates. I've tried it with my music on my phone & on my SD card, & no difference though I did get it to see the music on my phone once, but it was gone the next time I loaded the app. As a media player it works just fine, but as a media storage warehouse & manager, it's completely useless. Update for developer. I'm actually using version 1.3.0.0684. & it's still not working. Sorry =(
Bought the Pro version after using and enjoying the free version. MM icon now completely disappeared from my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 on latest android OS) and no amount of reinstalling will get it back. Completely useless.
Disappointing! Song ratings don't appear from win vers. Can't sort by ratings. Can't build playlists in folder mode. Text too small for quick glance. (I don't care about album art..would be nice if I could use that space for larger text). Don't most media monkey users have large music libs? Meaning ...they want to build lists w more sophisticated and useable capabilities. It ain't here!
Having used mediamonkey on Windows for years, I really wanted to like the Android version, but it's just too flakey. My song library regularly empties and has to be resynched, and playlists I've created similarly go blank after a while. The interface periodically crashes during certain operations on the 'now playing' list, leaving it playing but unable to be managed. The lock screen controls occasionally stop working. When it works, it's fine and has some nice features. Just a shame it's not more stable.
Can u ad the funtionality to she what im listening to on twitter or facebook like " I'm no listening to .... by ...." and can we have the option of changing the album art under tags it is the pro version i mean. Bt nyc app and enjoying it.
This is a pretty big disappointment. I am a huge fan of MediaMonkey on my Windows computer. Bought a license years ago and it is fantastic. I just thought that at a minimum the Android version would get the basics right like play lists, artists, albums, etc. But it frankly is terrible and totally unreliable. I can sync from my computer just fine but when trying to use MM on the Android side it is just a complete fail. I guess I'll wait hoping it gets better somehow but in the mean time I will continue to use PowerAmp pro which runs circles around this buggy mess.
Amsolutely amazing and works extremely well with the desktop version. My only real issue is that it doesn't give you a list of updated/downloaded file after you have synced it. Whether over wifi or with a USB connection, it only tells you how many files were moved and changed. You also cannot select singular files, it doesn't show my actual songs, it only goes by folders. So I can select from Artists/Albums/Genres/Ratings, but I cannot select a singular file from any of these, in fact, they won't show.
Vastly improved! Having used Monkeymonkey for several years on desktop I immediately bought the Pro version for Android several months ago. I was so disappointed I uninstalled it. I thought I would give another go today and I see they have vastly improved the app in many areas! this is now my "Go To" music app for Android and PC! Awesome!
Can't get it to play anything on my phone although I follow the "Grant access" instructions screens. Loyal desktop user for years, but why no response to users' concerns in the Play Store? Why motivate them to look for a different app?
Can they make any harder to use. I'm really trying not to use profanity, but it's tough. It would be nice just to be able to use a media site THAT was easy to use like iTunes. But since I hate Apple, I'm stuck searching for an app that is simple to use. AND THIS AIN'T IT!
Been loyal for years, bought gold, but really getting fed up with sync problems. Just spent 12 hours uploading 115GB of music to my SD card via USB 3 times and still can't use it after more hours of trawling forums and trying to figure out what is going on. MM itself chooses to put the data under android data and yet cannot then find it there. About time to find new software.
Nothing but aggravation. This app works in Windows and it works on Android phone. But it fails miserably when you try to use the key function (for which I actually bought the Pro and Golden versions) - synching your Android device with your Windows PC. Every time you connect your phone to your PC you simply don't know what the results will be. A disgrace.
The app is mostly decent. The pc interface is pretty tricky to get used to. You can't directly copy playlists and the Android app doesn't allow you to share them at all. Fix this please.
The desktop version is so great & does everything I need it to. So when the mobile app came out, I purchased it just like the desktop version. Little did I know that it would be this useless. The app will not add any music to my library, no matter how many times I tell it to add, or search the library for updates. As a media player it works just fine, but as a media storage warehouse & manager, it's completely useless.
Not sure why it relies on magic to connect instead of allowing us to enter a server name. It's a coin toss whether it works or not. Would be five stars otherwise.
Can be the best in the business, but ugggghhh, after so many updates the issue with granting access to SD card and files are STILL there. Perpetual loop to nowhere. Utterly frustrating. Or do I just not understand it properly? PLEASE fix or post a tutorial how to grant access.
You have to click so many buttons just to get started, album art goes missing and playlists don't work well. I opened up jet audio and was ready right away. Not so with this player. I wish it was as easy as the desktop version.
Syncing is always a pain. I have to do it three different ways multiple times to get everything over. And the app has no repeat or shuffle unless you use the widget. Otherwise its better than anything else I've tried.
But for the love of god can we please have some theme options. *shudders* I seriously never thought I'd say that, but this app is seriously ugly and awkward to use - especially in a mount in a car.
Fantastic music player, I don't use it for video so no clue there. Love how you can watch dlna videos on WiFi, and search folders for music. Wish the audio book portion was more robust with compatibility but still good none the less. WiFi sync is awesome as well if your too lazy or forget to plug in phone.

Where can go online to get detailed information of how to fix playlist not showing up on an Android phone! (If someone responds please post a few solutions I can go read for myself here). Please don't say it will be alright. Have not used this since GS2 and even now with GS7 edge this app still has this same problem, and there is no way to completely remove it, apparently now. This would be an great app if you hard code something in it to never sync unless a few check boxes get tick. Ran outta comment area!
I love MediaMonkey on my PC, but the Android version (pro version that I paid for) keeps deleting my playlists during the "organizing" process - playlists that were put there by the PC version on MM! This is really annoying.
I do like this app but it's a little frustrating compared to the pc versions - lack of settings and options. Great customisable home screen. Cut out all the bull, just have 4 to 6 ways of navigating your music. Good clean interface. Neat, clinical black design - no frills, just neutral. The audio quality is very average compared to Winamp, VLC or even native music player. No depth, sounds mono. Can't wait for foobar on android!!
I buy it because it looks good and very pretty. The lyrics add-on is nice touch. But often buggy and keep stopping my Playlist sometines.. so came the Samsung native player on my s7 edge the sound quality will blast this little app away. Seriously there's no way to Match the quality of of Samsung player. Also there's no exit button.. unable to close app without going thru settings and force close it.
Have used MediaMonkey over 10 yrs, and while the mobile version is the only player I would use, still has issues/needs improvements: lock screen player hasn't been fixed even by latest beta build; for all songs in albums with different artists the album artist gets replaced with the artist in the last track; wifi sync in Android doesnt work; no sorting other than alphabetical (e.g. by year, by rating, etc); why a horizontal equalizer?; shuffle gets restarted if a track is played manually from the list.
Gold Member Request... A great media player has it all... Except the progress bar during a song has stopped working on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Android Lollipop. Please fix. In the meantime have to use an alternative on mobile. Thank you.
I have loved MediaMonkey ever since I discovered it but the app for Android has ISSUES, at least for me (and some others according to reviews). I am waiting for troubleshooting guidance regarding WiFi sync. Once WiFi sync is working again I will add a star. USB sync is also hit and miss but if WiFi sync gets fixed then I couldn't care less. Also, when you folks fix the track progress bar glitch I will add yet another star. MediaMonkey deserves a five-star app and it has one... it just seems to be broken in certain areas which are crucial to me.
Last time I synced my tablet because I had added 2 albums to my library MM deleted 15 thousand tracks and started adding them back, even though I had "confirm deletions" checked, which will take 2 days! This isn't the first time. Grrrrrrrr...
Media Monkey delivers where itunes and others fall short. Im running MM on Windows Server 2012 R2 as a service and streaming to my tv's and mobile devices without issues. MM integrates well with android and handles my 20k song library really well. It takes just a bit to get up to speed on syncing, library organization, and setting the options properly but its worth the effort if you are serious about your collection. Two thumbs up!!

I love the desktop version, and the Android app is working well for me so far, no bugs! However, I really wish I was able to show albums by the same artist sorted by YEAR instead of being meaninglessly alphabetized. The evolution of an artist's sound over time is important context to enjoying their music. The alphabetical order of the album titles is arbitrary. I'm surprised that chronological isn't the default sort option. I'm STUNNED that it is not an option at all. I'm an MM user for life, but I can't give it 5 stars without this option.
