Vaavud Wind Meter for Android
This is just a toy and if you don't give access to photos and other private data, you are not allowed to use at all even if you bought the anemometer attachment. Not useful as an instrument. Only a way for the authors to steal your data!
I had this on my iPhone's a few years ago and it worked for a week then quit altogether. I got a new windmeter device from Vavuud fighting it was a faulty unit and again the same thing, runs for a week then goes deaf or whatever. So now I've got a Samsung tablet and it appears to be working today. We"'ll see. It is tragic this potentially fantastic device is so buggy as the design of the red cupped windmeter and the Slph. is first rate. I'm keeping the faith guys. Hope the bug fixes allow it to work.
I have the selphir, worked great on my Samsung S5, purchased new phone (Samsung j7) hasn't worked since, even purchased an adapter that Vavuud recommended. Great idea, not so great performance.
I installed and reinstalled about 7 times to make sure all the warning are off and everything is set as the msg say, but still nothing when I click start. Galaxy S7. What else can I do?Sleipner
Useless
This is a great app for a compact easy to use anemometer. I have the Sleipnir and find it very reliable and consistent when taking readings. The wind direction is a useful bonus, not a feature on some anemometers. The Sleipnir itself is robust and easy to store. I like the social aspects of the app, like sharing readings and seeing other people's readings. The history is really useful too - I keep logs for UAV flying and it's easy to call up readings after a day's flying. Great anemometer and great app!
Doesn't work with galaxy s7.
Why do you need audio recording permissions??? I thought is is anemometer and not a voice recorder? And if I deny the app the right, I cannot use it??? Please fix immediatelly.
2 Years since I bought this device and it still doesn't work with my Kyocera k-701, one of the major robust smartphone. Probably developers think that at see you somehow can use non-waterproof device.
Best wind forecast app with many cool features out there. Both, the app and the wind meter-definitely a must have!
Anyone else get an error screen "Hmmmm...something's not right" when calibrating with Sleipnir on Galaxy Note 7?
What is the fox guys?
Can't use without internet connection
Like the new look with the latest release 1.0. 1 but still seems to still be a few bugs hopefully they get them fixed soon.i like this app a lot but you pay for the slepnir and then you have to constantly pay to use this app using up your data $$.Not a big fan of the Facebook thing just want to no what's going on my back yard
Used to be a working app -- then one day stopped. Can log in but get suck on a loading page from there. Emailed in and was told that the app worked on the Nexus 6P, but not the Nexus 6. There has been no attempt to fix since. Good to know I purchased / paid money for an anemometer from the company, only to NEVER be able to use it. They got me good....
Installed on a new phone but can't log in, it just says the email address is already in use! Also the app is useless if you have no data coverage which is highly likely in many of the sort of places you need to measure windspeed. App needsto be able to run stand alone with no network connection.
Want to use it on my deck. Cannot find a signal for the mostpart both inside or outside my house and I know exactly where my best signal strength is. Trying it with WiFi and with 4G on my Samsung It's also not loading properly sometimes. Trying it for the first time. Have a new awning on the deck .
The anemometer works great in my iPad and iPhone, but only works intermittently with my Nexus5x and gives the no mic message. When it does work for seconds at a time it'll display chopped up data so I'm not sure what's going on? Seems like a hardware to software bug / issue in the TRRS jack.
Meter is pulled out of phone(s) by more than a light breeze and does not transmit to app. Now app sign in is required it can't be used on the old emergency phone in the sailing box. Bad hardware and now you ruined the app. with sign in.
What a surprise after 1 year without usage, that app now requires login. Great when you are on the beach in roaming with hellish expensive data. And only one single bloody thing you want is what you Vaavud buy for - to measure the wind. You screw it. Blame. Return to core.
I have just bought the V2 but i cannot calibrate it and it is only working intermittently on my LG G5. I'm very disappointed!
Does not work on note4 at all just says "no signal"
Just updated my phone got samsung galaxy s7 edge does not work had the samsung galaxy s6 edge and was working need to fix or give me my money back
The app won't let me sign in. But why should I have to sign in? What happens if you're outside of reception and you want to measure the wind? You can't.
Seems to be working on my S7 Edge.
Does whatbit says it do
The app is better looking now, but can't get it to work still. Nexus 6 don't calibrate nor measure. Nexus 6P calibrating seems OK but measurement fails. It's been almost a year with this crap and still full of bugs. Shameful.
Like the new look with the latest release 1.0. 1 but still seems to still be a few bugs hopefully they get them fixed soon.i like this app a lot but you pay for the slepnir and then you have to constantly pay to use this app using up your data $$.Once they fix all the bugs going to be an good wind app.Not a big fan of the Facebook thing just want to no what's going on my back yard
Perfect for dinghy sailing and windsurfing ✌
Nexus 5 amazing - nexus 6P not so much. Credit to the development team at Vaavud, they have made some changes to the app so that it works on the Nexus 6P now and looks like they have made some really great changes to the app. The downside though is that it still won't calibrate the Slepnir sensor, it started to do it but failed and has now failed about 5 times. Not sure if it is the software or hardware on the 6P....
Instrument works great but has an issue with unit measure when sharing. I want to display MPH. I have set the measurement settings to MPH in the Settings menu and it all is fine right up until I want to share to Facebook. It then switches the unit measure to M/S. Can you please fix this glitch in an update? It is very frustrating to non metric users in the USA. I can post as soon as the measurement is taken. BUT if I want to post from history, it is displayed as MPH but when it is uploaded to Facebook is reverts to M/S. It is very frustrating.
Try to contact the support team an after 3 / 4 weeks got a replay and now don't even replay anymore my emails. No a good customer service.
App was busted for a couple weeks and is now fully working again and is actually improved.
App looks great and user friendly. The unit setting does not work. I tried it on my S5 and S5 mini. I change from m/s to knots and the app crashes. Useless to me if it cannot change. Hope there is a fix or even a work around. Really like this gadget. Help please, will rate 4/5 if it worked. 5/5 if the login was more user friendly as it does not ask me to type my password twice or neither sends me notification email.........so Vavuud dev team responded and fixed my problem with 24hrs. Great stuff guys!!
Like most people, I sail locations with no internet. It seems that without internet the app will not let you review any measurements made. It is now useless, but hey, at least it has social networking.
The app stopped working in the latest update on 6.0.1 software. I need the device for work and could not use it since monday. Very upset
Having not used this since last couple of software updates, I was unable to access the measurement page without first logging in, so unless I'm missing something, I guess I can't take measurements offline like I used to be able to do. That's not good for aviaton in remote areas with no internet connection. The FAQ still says you can use offline, but there are no specific instructions how to. Also can't find contact info to send email. Without offline use, this is primarily a social media toy.
Bought the device, downloaded the app. When I launch the app on my Nexus 5, it simply just stops, with a message saying that the app crashed.
App won't start, Nexus 5. No conceivable use, 45 quid down tubes!

Great idea at first but these guys are generations behind on which phones it works with. When I had it on my M7, it was fine. Now with the M9 and M10, neither of the two phones work with either of the Vaavud products I have and I just got an email trying to sell a new one for $500! No way Vaavud, not until you support the products you already sold me.
