About SmallTown: WiFi Social Network
SmallTown allows you to expand your LinkedIn network and create new connections in Wi-Fi zones. Create a custom profile or sign in using LinkedIn. Browse profiles of those around you, chat, exchange contact and create new LinkedIn connections.
Great for conferences, events, offices - anywhere there's a decent Wi-Fi network. Users can skip the business card collection step and directly discover others and connect on LinkedIn using SmallTown.
SmallTown shows users present in the current Wi-Fi network in the "Town Hall" screen. Users encountered over time are saved and presented in the "Town Folk" screen. To create a LinkedIn connection, first "Chat" with the user, then use "Contact" to exchange email addresses and then use the "LinkedIn Connect" function from their profile page.
SmallTown Chat happens over your current Wi-Fi network. No chat data is sent to the internet, so all Chat data is ephemeral. Chat does not use your email, phone number or any other IM id. So your contact information is protected.
SmallTown efficiently communicates over Wi-Fi broadcast, so please make sure your Wi-Fi network supports that.

SmallTown PROTECTS YOUR PRIVACY. SmallTown only uses your present Wi-Fi network. SmallTown does not use any permanent contact information (such as email, IM, phone number) for exchanging data. No data is ever sent to the internet or to the "cloud". There is no central database or website that stores YOUR DATA. All communication is directly among users, phone to phone. I love this thing! You seem to have thought it through and done a good job of implementing it. One thing I wonder: could you do a peer-to-peer version and cut out even the need for a router? Update: I still think it's five-star work - but please, give me the ability to turn it off. I am just not that social and neither am I always within a wifi hotspot.
